OK so this is a long one. It was requested that I do a longer plant chores video so you could play this in the background of doing your own plant chores 🥰 let me know if you dig it! A lot of it is in real time vs sped up :)

I’m not doing plant chores, but I have a few quiet moments to watch while my toddler is playing with her papa! Your videos are very soothing and chill, which is great. 👌🏼♥️😅
“When I was in college I rented a room, there was cactus plant on the window ledge. I watered this plant for around 4 years. One day I thought why isn’t it growing. So I checked & found out. It was a plastic one 😂😂
I fell in love with bird of paradise because of it's bloom and bought it. A friend visited me after couple of months and told me ths bloom is plastic. Didn't recognize it on my own before. No idea why they put fake flowers into pots :D
You being paranoid about the water dripping into that outlet wasn't weird. I was thinking the EXACT same thing until you said something. You're just being cautious 😌👌🏾
I’m treating my plants from a thrips infestation while listening to this ! My Thai, Florida ghost, brandtianum, micans and manjula all have thrips damage :// y’all wish me luck lmao
I’m really enjoying your plant chores videos, I’ve been binging them this week 😆 They fit nicely with with 2021 goal of caring for the plants I have and getting them as healthy as possible, rather than buying more! (I’ve done a no buy January and I’m carrying on now!!). Grateful to you 💚
I started watching this then I said....wait I have to repot tomorrow and it’s 45 minutes I’ll just save it for tomorrow. I loveee your necklace it’s soo pretty!!! Where did you get it from??
@@wildfern I have a calathea musaica who is the most gorgeous goddess and prays at night! She looks super cool and you should def look them up! (Network plant)
Your brasil cuttings are sooo beautiful! Can't wait to see you pot them up when it's time. Thank you so much, that was a wonderful 45 min treat!!! I envy how you can just use that nice Canadian tap water on your plants. I've been boiling water and letting it cool (I know I can let it sit out too).
@@MultiVentriloquist it's not an across the board Canadian thing, it depends entirely on the municipality where you live. My grandma lives a few provinces over and they have horrible tap water.
@@heatherdegreeff1092 I get it, sometimes it’s a matter of plumbing system in the building I guess. Was just wondering what’s the situation like at Fern’s:)
That brasil is so beautiful 😍😍😍 one of my favorites. I'm trying to bring mine back from the brink of death because I brought it to my office for a while and it was very unhappy, but I'm so tempted to just get a new big one too.
Your planty chores vids are the absolute best. Today, I potted up three separate propagations of pothos, vining philo, and small siltepecana pieces. I also took the sticky labels from a few candle jars to reuse for plants. Feel so accomplished! Now I'm gonna go back and re-watch but this time I'll pay attention!
Have a try at using plastic window mesh to line the bottom of pots. You can easily buy a roll of it. They’re easy to cut to size for different pot sizes, it’s washable/reusable, and best of all, it won’t mold since it’s made to withstand moisture.
You "made me" get a Ph. Silver Sword a while back. Got a rather small plant from Ebay that took 1 month to be shipped to me. For Like 35 USD. Loved it so much so today I took a Uber to a plantshop faaaaar away and got a 17cm pot Silver Sword with Huuuge leafs - for the same price as the Ebay. :D Thank you, for your inspiring videos. :D
Commenting as I go! I love your p. Brasil. I had one, that looking back I think had thrips right from the start and I just didn't know the signs. It never stood a chance 😕. I have a beautiful new massive regular heart leaf philodendron, and that's good enough for me for now!
i recommend coffeefilterpaper for the bottom of the pot. I use one layer, so just one part of the filter. It works quite well and it doesn't cause mold probs. You might have to make a small hole, because sometimes the flow isn't well enough without doing so, but you will see. I put it in, let water drain through, put the plant in, water again.. and then i use my nails to poke through very carefully to check the water can come out :D the seramis and sometimes perlite i use, stays in anyway. It will work with soil as well i guess.
I don't usually use my moisture meter for them because they're not at a high risk of being overwatered. If the pot is light and doesn't feel moist, I will water them. I wouldn't let them get lower than a 2 or 3 if I had to pick a number :)
I was so scared when you were taking it out of the terra-cotta. I had a feeling the roots were sticking! I’ve been told not to use terracotta on my Hoyas! Curious to know your take on this!
I've heard this said before, about anthuriums too! Luckily Hoya generally don't need to be repotted often and I think some root damage is okay, they will recover.
Watching this while repotting a few plants :) ALSO you’re not being paranoid about the outlet thing. I had an outlet catch on fire (not water related) but it was so scary! Luckily I was home and there was no damage other than to the outlet itself. But yeah you’re not overreacting! You’re just being safe! 😎
Ok I immediately thought of you when I found these - they're pots on amazon that are SUPER cute (cylindrical, have a drainage hole and a tray) and are plastic but come in terra cotta color! I know that terra cotta and plastic are pretty much the only 2 pots that you use, and you love the look of terra cotta, so I thought those would be perfect for plants that might need a plastic pot while still having the ~aesthetic~ of good old TC. I ordered a bunch for myself in white and terra cotta. Had a field day repotting some of my dudes in those while playing this vid in the background!
The best solution I have found for covering the drain hole in pots is to use a piece of paper coffee filter. It eventually breaks down over time, but by then the plant/roots/soil has had time to settle in and establish a bit, and soil falling out is much less of an issue.
Hey was just watching and saw your t shirt hack. I did the same but switched to coffee filters it seems to be the best lol awesome vids ! Thanks for being you!
Wow! The stripes are gorgeous! So many pretty variegations! When I take propagations I leave the new leaves on because they will continue to grow. Is it better for root growth to chop them off? I also pre water the plant to soften the roots before I repot. Watering them before makes the roots softer and easier to manage. :) I love long planty chore videos! 👏🏼😘
Super helpful video! I was just wondering on how to combine a small hoya compacta to a larger one and I’m wondering when the right time is since they don’t like to be repotted too much. That’s such a beautiful plant

Also! As a drainage hole cover, I use a fiber mesh tape for drywall repairs. They’re usually sold in rolls and are relatively cheap. They’re also sticky on one side which makes it easy to fill soil in without having to hold it down. Hope this helps!
