First time I heard this is burned into my brain. In college. Got in my car to go somewhere and turned on the radio. The solo played here at 1:43 was exactly where the song was when I started listening. Immediately I said, "I've never heard THIS before, but it's got to be a new Beatles song!" No other group ever sounded like that, before or since. Your cover is great. Thank you for taking me back in time for a few moments. When you get older, you'll understand how important that can be.
Greetings friend! How could I pay you to teach me.. i'm from the North of Chile and this was what i was looking for.. I'm interested but i don't know how to send you the money from here. A hug.
Perfect chord voicing with the capo on third, tele sounds spot on,wonder if George played rhythm as well as lead on the Abbey road session.ie on his Rosewood Telecaster. Les Paul was perfection.nice feel to the solo, well done.
Egad. I could never get the chord voicing right, never thought of capo on the 3rd fret. That’s why George was the guy who stole the whole show on Abbey Road with just 2 songs (this and Here Comes The Sun), and I’m not.
Yeah if memory serves he originally played it in A so, likely just stuck the capo on 3rd rather than working out the guitar arrangement from scratch in C.
How come you don't have more subs? With such a good quality of these covers you deserve them more than most folks on the internet. Great work, keep it up.
I wish I could play a little guitar so that I could understand your musicians' parlance. As a Beatles' fan I can only say that you did a great job for every cover❤
also recently found out that george used a capo on the rhythm for the track through isolated audios, such a surprise after playing it on open chords for years. it shows the skill, as well as the love and care george had for the songs he wrote! this cover is amazing, will probably learn the lead guitar through your video haha
Oh man, u even hit the “likely a mistake” extra note in the solo. People think I’m nuts for keeping that in lol. Great job on all these covers. Consistently some of the most accurate beatles covers I’ve come across. As someone who has the same guitar part mastering ocd, whether it’s The Beatles, Pearl Jam or Pantera (in my case ) lol, It’s clear you take pride in getting the notes, positions and all the right tones on all the tracks/overdubs on each song. 👍🏼
Interesting. I always thought George played both guitar parts on Lucy, but after hearing this, I am also convinced he used the Rosewood Tele for the rhythm part!
Your song workouts seem to always be spot on Sam. You are very good at hearing the nuances in order to know where on the neck a part is played. Thanks. I'm subscribed. I've always played this in open position. Never crossed my mind that Harrison wrote this, capo'd on 3rd fret. I'll have to go through this closely to see if I can figure out what his reasoning was for playing it in this position.
Fantastically done! 👏 I appreciated the chimney tele feel to the rhythm part. I thought there was a low mixed acoustic too but I now realize it’s all the tele
Illuminating is the idea that the accompanying guitar was played with the capo. It actually sounds very similar to the record. Bravo for the details, very nice cover.
Incredible work man. I’m such a fan of all your videos. Do you think Lennon really played the piano part or they just wanted to credit him to something on the track?
@@sampopkinWow I’d never heard the outtakes before, I had no idea. I knew he helped George finish the song so that makes a lot more sense. Keep up the great work man
Sam, do you think Paul put Black tape wound flats on his Rickenbacker 4001 for this song? (same strings that came stock on Hofners in the 60's.) Many 60's bass players used Black tape wound flats on their basses back then. They thumped. They did not sustain.
@@sampopkin Yea, I think your right but the black tape wound strings are something you actually see from the audience. I see them on his Rick in the picture of the isolated track on "Something." I never saw that before. I know how a Rick 4001 bass sounds and to shut the sound down to a thump, it would take the black tape wound strings. We have pictures and isolated tracks now that we didn't have at all before. There was no internet when I first heard this song. LOL. Now I can see pictures of that bass with black strings on it and hear just the bass track. It's a 60's thump. Amazing! When the Beatles were asked what kind of strings they use, they didn't know or care. The Rick 4001 does not come stock with the black tape wound strings. Somebody had to put them on it. Did Paul? We'll never know I guess.
