I have two of the M48s. They were reserved arsenal 'battle packs' that came with bayonet, sling, cleaning kit, ammo pouches, etc. Never issued, fired once every decade or so for recertification back into reserve. One is my shooter and the other, as received, still in cosmoline, all matching S#. You hit that jackpot with a matching bayonet. Big 5 were selling the packs back in the late 90s, early 2000s for around $169.00.
Just picked up an near new condition M48 at a gun show last week. Price wasn’t that bad. I got it for less than $700. K98s were quite a bit more, over $1K. Hopefully I’ll get to try it on the range next week.
Good luck finding one in excellent condition, Yugoslavien M 48 is absolutely overall one of the best military Mauser made outside Germany. How i know that ? Back home in Yugoslavia i was driving German engineer's in town by name Kragujevac where M 48 is made and they told me that rifle all together with other Mauser models is the best quality made anywhere in the World!
Yeah the thing in Canada (2023) is I could shop around and find a few M48 or M48A on forum or GunPost, but only few of them being true "unissued" and "mint" conditioned. Most of them are either sportized or have a less nice stock. All the good guns are in the US. Now with that recent US export ban, Canada is not seeing much big of a supply now. Price are going crazy as I see it.
If you're willing to wait, you WILL find a M48 in the $400 range, especially online. Not to mention, you can find other 8mm mausers online too. Which is how I got my Czechs postwar K98k.
just a heads up, it’s mauser. there’s no h in it. mao (like the chinese dynasty)-zer.

The prices on these have went sky high now for even crappy mixmasters. Atlantic Firearms was selling junk versions recently for big bucks.
Yes. The answer is yes 🙂 Nice video. Just found your channel, new sub.
Awesome! Thank you!
Wait, you live in Wichita?
