Davion is 100%right. After this fight All might should have paid alot more attention to bakugou especially knowing happens later
Davion, i'm about to explain 'Deku' and 'Kacchan' to you, as well as their names in general.
in japanese culture, you call people by their last name. that's why we call Izuku Midoriya "Midoriya" and not his first name, Izuku. his nickname 'Deku' comes from a way of reading the japanese letters that comprise his name. it's a pun that doesn't work in the romanji. the word Deku means “useless” or “good-for-nothing". Essentially, Bakugo made that nickname for Deku to dunk on him. However, "deku" sounds similar to another Japanese word "dekiru", which means “can do". Uraraka misinterpreted his nickname 'Deku' as being a short version of 'Dekiru'. Since that day, Midoriya took back his nickname as a positive thing, his Deku isn't useless, it's a sign of his resolve.
Bakugo is similar, first name Katsuki, last name Bakugo, naturally, as he's a japanese kid in japan, people call him by his last name, Bakugo. Bakugo's nickname, Kacchan, is much simpler. Chan is a honorific (like how Mr, Ms, Dr are english honorifics) which by you'd call someone. Chan is an affectionate honorific which essentially kinda means 'Little'. Not exactly but honorifics work differently in japanese. Most frequently 'Chan' used for girls and small children, close friends, or lovers. so, Deku viewed him and Bakugo as close friends, so he combined the 'Ka' from Katsuki, his first name, with 'Chan', the honorific you'd use for a close friend.

This episode is just pure emotion because Deku and Bakugo just can't work things out. Bakugo is so obsessed with not running away that he's neglecting strategy. But Deku is so focused on All Might being his idol that the only thing on his mind is to run away. He's not even considering fighting as an option. And the moment either party closes themselves off to a potential other idea, failure is on the horizon. So them both finally deciding to work together hits so much harder. Bakugo was willing to hurt himself just so Deku could have a chance at victory, and Deku was willing to compromise the victory he would've had just to help Bakugo. Their friendship is a little rocky but I loved the way they came together in this episode. The "Origin" episodes are always a blast.
Now, onward to the villains...

See the name thing.. Bakugo is his last name. In Japan people go by their last name often. Especially in a school setting like that. Katsuki is his first name. Kaachan is Deku's childhood nickname for him. Same as Kaachan calling him Deku, even though that name was a little bit of bullying. Deku's last name is Midoriya and his first name is Izuku.
About the thing you said about Deku's downfall, the fans and even Shigaraki said that Deku has a "hero syndrome", just like All Might, cause they feel like they have to do everything by themselves, save everyone, must stay strong all the time and bury their feelings deep down, just like heroes we see in most comics, but that's not the true. With Bakugou, Endeavor, Aizawa, we see a bunch of types of heroes and none of them are perfect, but they try within what's possible for them.
Also, in my opinion, Bakugou is one of the most complex characters I've ever seen in anime, cause everything about him has a reason and it's so complicated! Why he looks up to All Might, why he has such a temper, why he just can't tolerate Izuku, why he has such morals, EVERYTHING has a reason and it's gonna be shown in the anime in some way. On the surface, Bakugou doesn't have a bad childhood, what hunts him is literally the day he fell in a lake, but everything around him affected him in some way and it's so interesting! Also his character development is reeeeeeally slow, he's still getting some development in the manga just so you guys can have a better idea, so please have some patience with my boy wdfjwkjdf
Also is so incredible how everything you guys mentioned that you would like to see is gonna be shown in some way or another in the show, maybe not in the most precise way you would like, but yeah. Horikoshi (the author) really is amazing. Just keep in mind that everything that is said and done by the characters now, even the little things, are gonna be brought up again in the future and some even have consequences, so it's so interesting to see it getting build up! Loving the reactions!
Deku’s issue is that he was giving up too soon; if this was an actual villain, would he just run away? All Might and Endeavor wouldn’t do that. That changed in this test of course. Deku isn’t the perfect successor, I’ll put Mirio above Deku as a character; give him OFA and he’ll be a dangerous enemy for the villains (yes I know the secrets but don’t spoil them for Davion)
Well Deku’s first priority isn’t fighting. His is saving. If he doesn’t think fighting is necessary he won’t do it. Against Stain his first instinct was to run with Iida but when he realized that wasn’t an option, he stood his ground and fought because that was the only way. If he has to fight someone to save someone else he will, like he does here. That’s always true. And it’s not an issue to run necessarily. They made running a viable option because sometimes you need to retreat or get help from another hero. Iida had to run away to get help when the League of Villains first showed up and that was the right choice. Deku was right here. They had to run away from All Might and Bakugo eventually agreed. He didn’t give up, he recognized there was more than 1 solution for passing and chose the correct option. The only problem he had here was seeing All Might as an unstoppable god and that made his plan to get to that solution unviable
@@pj_spirit Nah, I gotta disagree with that.
How it goes is that an irritated Bakugo wants to fight All Might because he was aware of his weakness, his time limit. This is a bit of info the anime omitted. Bakugo suspected All Might couldn't fight for long & wanted to wear him down & beat him. Bakugo's impatient has locked him into that extreme. Deku can only think about running without thinking how to accomplish that because his admiration for All Might has locked him in that extreme.
The answer to this is a compromise between those two extremes. This is something All Might stated. They both have the ability to get this done, but first, they need to overcome their individual hiccups. There was a reason Recovery Girl highlighted both of them.
Bakugo was the first one to overcome his personal hiccup once he slowed down & recognised what he actually values: winning. Not his annoyance at Deku. This was thanks to Deku pulling him aside & reminding him who he is. Bakugo came up with the compromise & it worked.
Then Deku overcame his personal hiccup after seeing Bakugo in trouble, & charges at All Might to help him. Gradually freeing himself from All Might's power over him. It wasn't about whether Deku could stand up for himself or not, it was about him slowly moving away from All Might.
And the best part about it is, they actually managed to wear down All Might's time limit & escaped. Something Bakugo & Deku wanted respectively, & couldn't achieve without the other.
@@1999bazz I realize Deku’s admiration for All Might is one of his hurdles, Gran Torino tells him as such and that leads to Full Cowling, Recovery Girl says it here and it still holds him back in his development going forward. That’s a work in progress for a good chunk of the series and it made his plan here unviable. He just didn’t want to engage at all. Not engaging was optimal but at the same time impossible. He needed to confront his admiration and deification of All Might here and that was when he agreed on their stall tactic. He was forced to engage when he thought doing so guaranteed their loss, thus maki another step forward to looking properly at All Might. But going back for Bakugo here was more of what we already saw with Stain and at the USJ or even fighting Todoroki up to this point. Deku naturally pushes past anything in his way to act if it means saving someone, even if they don’t ask. Before or after this, even when he thinks saving someone means surmounting impossible odds, he’ll try it. He didn’t have to go back for Bakugo. He shouldn’t have if we’re being honest. He should’ve kept running as he was nearly out but his hero complex kicked back in to do the unreasonable thing in order to save someone no matter what.
@@pj_spirit I agree for the most part, but the reason I bring up Deku going back for Bakugo was because there was a similar situation earlier in the fight where All Might held Bakugo down, & Deku was about to turn & run before All Might cut him off.
Him turning back at the end after hearing everything Bakugo said while All Might held him down was his moment of growth. All Might was surprised Deku came back because he was about to turn & cut him off again, expecting him to run like last time. I'm not talking about his instinct to help. There were two scenes where All Might held down Bakugo, & in the first one Deku was about to run while in the second he turned back & charged at All Might.
