very useful video well presented and explained ..one thing though i wonder about that shaft ...a crack test may have been wise or x ray as it is clear the gears took some real forces ..
Great video! My gearbox appears to be loosing oil, but it is not leaking. Have you heard of oil going through the rear seal of the engine and out the exhaust?
Nice video except I didn’t see the use of any assembly lube on the shaft gears, or even the seal. Also your plug safety wire rotation placement is a little off. There are also specs on safety wire twists per inch per regulations. An improper install could lead to stress, breakage, and responsibility of a fatal incident. Certified or otherwise, correct procedures save lives anything less is just not acceptable. “YOU CAN’T PULL OVER TO THE CURB”.
People need to make more vodeos like this with the smaller rotax engines
Thanks for watching I enjoyed making the video
how is the gap between the case halves filled on the O ring sealing/mating surface?
I don't know why he's using a B box on a 582 swinging a a large prop like that. No wonder it was shredded. Need a C or E box.

Hi Phil, your right, maybe I should have just replaced the shaft, but at the time it visually looked OK
Thanks for watching
Years later still a great video. What about the top weep hole? What is the value of that?
That's the one you use if the gearbox is mounted in the opposite orientation, i.e. engine upside down.
@@tomrc4328 thanks.
