I'm an American who started playing soc.....er futbol about 20 years ago. Came across the EPL one day on cable and was immediately hooked. Loved the passion of the fans, the rivalries, and the intensity of the game. Seemed like a real sport compared to the over-commercialized junk that sports had become in the U.S.
Sadly I can't watch EPL anymore. It's become the same mediocre crap as everything else that's marketed to the "prawn sandwich brigade".

Roy Keane was fined hundreds of thousands in his career but he didn't care about the money he just wanted his team to be top rank all the time. And to be fair they were under him as captain.
This was when football was at it's absolute peak.Contact was actually allowed,tough characters ruled and the entertainment was unsanitised.
Keane and Vieira were the last 'Guvnors' of the game before football went soft and stopped what we used to know as tackling.

Such an underrated footballer.his passing seemed easy but when u watch fred and mctominay, it's on a different level. He was never hurried and he always passed it forward. Could also slow down or speed a game up. Truly special player.

I saw Vieira shrinking in front of the Keane onslaught and as Graham Poll called it all to order and the teams went out I said, "Nobody has kicked a ball yet but United are well on the way to winning this game". One of the best MU ever had in the squad and we really don’t give him enough credit for it. He was tough and fearless and a great inspiration for his teammates. While everyone else (Spain, Germany, Brazil to name a few) were out there teaching their youngest technique and skills, the English were always picking the most physical to progress in the clubs! Keane was and is intriguing. A great engine, but it was his mindset that made up for any shortcomings in his game. Surely the duty of any captain is getting the best out of his team and this is where Keane excelled.
Don't think he had any shortcomings at his peak. He could head the ball really well. He could easily play fifty, sixty yard passes if required but it was the forte of the likes of scholes and Beckham so he usually gave it to them but he was an incredibly good footballer apart from an incredible defensive player. I think his actual ability is often overlooked because he was considered a hard man.
