Wrong......light my fire was Robby's song.... everyone knows the Doors for that masterpiece.....and he wrote the most popular songs like love her madley, love me two times etc. They were all unique and excellent !
@@pleun315 sure, other members wrote the hits, but you can't deny Ray's organ was something else. Ray was the one who took over when Jim couldn't do anything. Ray stood up for the Doors in a financial way and kept them all from being broke. Without Ray ever having brought up the idea of a band to Jim, none of them would've ever thought of the Doors (though you could say there would be no Doors without Ray, Jim, John, and Robby)
@@PichuHasStems Agree. Ray tasked Robby with coming up with some songs, and Krieger went home and came up with Light My Fire. Robby might not have thought he ever had it in him if not for Manzarek. In 1987, I listened to a radio interview with the Manzarek, Densmore, and Krieger on the 20th anniversary of the release of Light My Fire. It was clear that Ray was the leader and driving force of the band, articulate, intelligent and always interesting.
I was 14 when I heard Break On Through for the first time. I was hooked on The Doors. Ray’s contribution to the band’s success cannot be over estimated.
RAY WAS A FRIEND TO ME HE PLAYED WITH MY GROUP AND RECORDED AN UNRELEASED RECORDFOR MY BAND AND PLAYED ON IT TOO I SAW THE DOORS MANY TIMES BACK IN THE 60s HERE IN LOS ANGELES, CA RAY WAS A COOL CAT TO ALL CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042 USA
I saw the Doors' Boston 1970 gig and in the 90s shook Ray's hand at a trade show. We actually chatted for 5 minutes, he was coolest of the cool. Miss him always!
When the Doors performed live, Ray Manzareks organ was just one small keyboard with electric bass, he played the bass with one hand and the the organ keyboards with the other hand, and yet it sounded sooo good, he was a very talented great keyboard player, he was a an important part of what of what made the doors one great bands of rock.
Ray always seemed to be the most level headed, chill and smart of the 4 but Jim died too young at 27 so we’ll never know the man he might’ve become. He was definitely already growing tired of the stupid rockstar lifestyle before his death by all accounts. Rays work on the keyboard/organ gave The Doors that distinct edge that made them sound like no other band ever. I’m surprised more bands haven’t followed suit.
Hopefully he had access to pain medicine. Most likely not.. Lol bad time to get painful cancer with all the new restrictions from rhe CDC. No Fentinyl back then too. What a horrible way to go 😔
Even though Jim stood out far more than the rest of his band mates, I believe Ray was the glue that held them all together
I agree 100%!

@@PichuHasStems the 4 together were almost divine, we even talk about them today. Each one had their unique gift and co created with that.

Ray Manzarek's keyboard work is probably the most creative and recognized in the history of Rock music
Yep, he was unique and brilliant ❤❤
Isn’t it the organ?
