This show really has a white liberal problem, in how certain things are handled. The squad calls out police brutality and corruption but they still engage in it, 'Amaro's 180' has him go to a shoot-out buzzed and shooting and paralyzing an innocent bystander, then the Squad interferes with the investigation by delaying the doctor's from checking Amaro's blood-alcohol level (even Cragen who is an alcoholic that promotes personal responsibility) and only letting doctors who know them check him. And the episode frames Amaro as more of a victim than the black kid he shot. Amaro and his daughter get harassed by people who vandalize his property and people call him a bigot, but he gives this tearful Mea Culpa so the audience can see he's not racist and they don't have to question their biases at all. Fin arrests a guy possibly without a warrant in Honduras, and leaves the guy in a hot van for hours, and it's even worse because now he's 2nd in command as Sergeant, he should've known better but he doesn't because the plot has to happen. And 'Guardians and Gladiators', the George Floyd episode is only better in that it doesn't try to cry for cops who shoot innocent people. The guy representing Floyd is an upstanding citizen who is just the victim of a Karen (she's even called a Karen by the show) and he's wrongfully arrested but thankfully he lives, he then sues the city and wants to implement anti-bias training, which nobody really gives a challenge, there's no question of money for poorer areas, or really anything. The worst part of this story line is that Liv doesn't really have to question herself, every black character defends her, there's this one lady who speaks to Liv about the bias training and provides the title quote via the analogy that good cops (Guardians) care for everybody, and the bad 'Old Guard' cops (Gladiators) just want to fight everybody. Fin and Garland talk and Garland asks if he thinks Liv has any biases and Fin (the lighter-skinned black guy from the Projects) is like 'Her only bias is towards the victims' granted he's known her the longest and could be wanting to defend her. The only times non-white people question them they're either criminals, siding with criminals or immediately switch sides. One of the worst examples being in 'Chasing Demons' Cassidy is back an arrested a non-white, I think South Asian doctor for molesting children, but over the course of the episode his trials reveals he called the guy a 'monkey' and a 'monster', I mean the monster part justified but the hell. And Cassidy's 'All I misspoke, and I didn't mean it like that.' At one point the pedophile doctor's attorney questions him for the murder of her client and he goes 'You're the one who made it about race.' Never do they have to question themselves.

Honestly I kinda wish they had anybody but Wentworth Miller for the biracial LGBT person, just because look at Miller, it's impossible to to know he's biracial just from looking at him and yet the episode while it does call out racism it doesn't really address colorism and the advantages given to lighter-skinned POC over darker-skinned POC. (And I'm saying this as a white guy, I have no understanding of these issues beyond maybe statistics, Tee Noir, Khadija Mbowe and black wahala have some good videos on this.)
