Wow what a change!! I remember as a young girl going shopping with my friends at 14yrs old & older. The streets was super clean & there were no venders in the street selling any goods. I especially miss Alexzander's. There were great stores to eat. There was Jans ice cream parlor. The paradise theater was a clean & wonderful to go to. They use to have concerts in Poe Park. Great memories!!!
It’s still clean.

I remember all of this I grew up there until 2000 where I then I moved around Yankee Stadium… I always loved Fordham Rd and Poe park. Memories…..

What a gross place. Glad I’ll never, ever, ever go there. Sad to see no one speaking English in part of New York.
@@TheMonkeyNeuron All Americans should know both English & Spanish honestly. It is America after all 🤷🏾♂️
@@ViraL_FootprinT.ex.eYeah it is America, the place where over 90% of the country spoke English until recently. People that were born here shouldn't have to learn a new language just to accommodate people that were too lazy and/or ignorant to integrate into the society. Saying that people in the US should know Spanish is just as ignorant as saying that people in South America should know English.

Oh my goodness this took me back. I can’t believe that Gyro shop is still there. It wasn’t Marshalls when I was growing up. It was Alexander’s. I’m now living in Florida but it’s nothing like the boogie down. I missed the diversity of people. I used to have to take the bus to Fordham Road to shop for clothes growing up.this definitely took me back. Thanks for sharing.😊

Look at all the illegals? Bronx is not a community for hispanics or africans. Quite disturbing it has come to this.
Nothing has really changed in 50 years except the addition of the street vendors. And of course, no more E.J. Korvettes later to become Alexanders and store names. 50 years ago every hydrant would be open on the side roads with hundreds of kids running under the water to beat the city summer heat. Thx for the memories.
Thank you so much for this! It's exactly what I was looking for.
There’s a beautiful vibe that resonates from this walking the Fordham Rd neighborhood of the Bronx. From the street sellers, the foods, the diverse cultures, the energy you see a city that isn’t Manhattan but is just as cool. Thanks Sifat.
Don't forget the bullets flying
it has the vibe of a garbage dumpster

I used to live in Fordham Road. Had few good memories of this area. I live in Flagler Beach, Florida. I love it here. Don’t get me wrong. I miss some stuff of NYC.
How do you go from NYC to FL? I lived half my life in Florida and I just couldn't get used to it. The closest I've come to being happy is when I lived just outside of Tampa. Downtown St. Pete was amazing and felt like a city I could live in. But it's all a replica of the city I prefer.
I will say I do miss driving by the beach with the windows down. Can't do that in NYC.
Good morning Sifat and all - I can't stay too long as I am working but just wanted to take a quick stroll with you all. Enjoy your day!
Definitely got the vibes Fordham on a good summer day 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nice video, wonderful walking tour in New York
So sad that people think this is beautiful - beautiful memories growing up with family & friends, but nothing has changed. It's still dirty. I'm still here, and this makes me sad everyday.
Right it's so crime ridden and dirty
See, I could never live IN the city but you're surrounded by beauty outside of it. Crime in new york will always be terrible, one thing I'll always hate. But as someone who moved at 16 to Texas (And lived in Maine) . Let me tell you that NY is the best state ever. I would SO MUCH rather be at home in Yonkers/Bronx than this drought-ridden yellow-grass hellhole
yeah, America the superpower
I laugh they think it’s beautiful the most crime ridden Borough behind NYC only because NYC is larger. Hahaha 🤣 funny
Remember now Federal is bogus! Only the State is Legitimate.
So many people hate on New York but I love the liveliness and people walking around. It gives it a great atmosphere.
It's jealousy. You haven't made it unless you have haters. People hate the fact that NYC is the center of the world so they try to take it down a notch. Doesn't work.
@@alexs1640 Exactly!
@Sardwacko what else would you call it when someone purposefully seeks something out just to trash it? NYC remains on your mind like a tumor. Nothing else to call it but jealousy

Thank you Sifat. I grew up in the Riverdale area and we went to Fordam road a lot. I watched with my mom. I was trying to push you to go down just a little bit further so I could look through the gates of Fordam University. I used to love passing by as a kid.

@@TheNYCWalkingShow we will be watching. Thank you so much. It was a great walk down memory lane. Crazy to see how much has changed as well. Marshall’s used to be Alexander’s dept store and there were not all those street vendors back then.

I tell you this is such a nice video. I grew up in the Bronx in the '60s and the '70s and I can remember the Alexander's. I can also remember the Navy and Marine Corps and Air Force recruiting stations. The crazy Eddie's I remember the the movie theater that was on Fordham road. I see the McDonald's is still there. It's been there forever. I remember when it first opened back in the '70s. I'm now happily retired and I'm living in the state of Georgia at the age of 61
I remember kingsbridge road the D train. I had a cousin that lived in the Polo grounds and I used to take the D train to Fordham road and then I would walk down and catch a 55 bus to White plains and gun Hill road and then go to co-op City
I think we are close in age because I also remember my mother dragging me to Alexander. I hated going shopping but loved walking down Fordham Rd. There was a famous Jahn's ice cream place.

And Gorman frankfurters!!!!
I went to Alexander’s as a kid too then it changed to Caldor’s … and we were to taken to the Discovery Zone on Valentine Ave.

24:41-As a Torontonian (citizen of Toronto) I'll _never_ get over the amazed and surprised feeling of seeing a Canadian bank in the United States, NYC in particular (for those that don't know, the 'TD' in TD Bank stands for Toronto Dominion; here in Canada, it's known as TD Canada Trust dute to it merging with a bank called Canada Trust, and it's a big institution here, with three sets of buildings (the original 'Black Tower' TD headquarters, and the TD Canada Trust Tower, which used to be only the Canada Trust Tower.)

As a Georgia Boy I completely agree they can have that I prefer the country all day everyday
You have to drive everywhere even to get napkins. I used to do this and only had to pay carfare one time once a week. Even walked the Bridge to Dykman.
Since I was a kid, I have wanted to move to New York. I used to beg my aunt to take me to Brooklyn during summer break. Years later, I married my wife from the Bronx, and I pleaded with her to start a life together in New York. However, she said that she is not doing the cold anymore. The winter in Georgia is nothing compared to the winter in New York. and the schools do not shut down for a snowstorm.

Good job 👏 you have a nice camera. Makes it look somehow less gritty than in person, lol. I used to walk some of this area in high school when switching buses in the mid-late 1990s. I do not miss it. NYC feels like it's going back to the bad days. I remember a crackhead chasing my friend up the block closer to Jerome Ave. 😂😂😂😂😂 he probably deserved it, but still. So crowded and dirty, and where did all these street vendors come from? Literally no room for them. The stories and pictures of what a wonderful and safe neighborhood this was back in the 1950s always make me sad to see it like this. The Bronx was once a very green, clean, wonderful place that many people moved to for a quality life. Now, it seems everyone wants to escape. Well, escape NY in general 😂.
I haven't been there so long! It still looks the same the last time I went there!
I played a game called ,spot the white person, and I lost.
Nothing beats NY diversity...They just need more trees and plant life in the neighborhoods, otherwise it's all just concrete and asphalt...
Spoken like someone who's never been to NYC.
It's actually one of greenest city on earth.
