I have an issue with my eyes . Every time I see your videos , my eyes seem to just get stuck on you. They don't blink and they don't look away. What should I do ? I hope you don't give me a heartbreaking prognosis !

Hello dr Fatima, I don’t think I got red eye due to illness, I got redness due to whitening drops over the years. I stopped them but the sclera is itchy and filled with oversized blood vessels. It’s chronically red. What would be the last method of treatment in your opinion. Many thanks 😊

Please see your eye specialist. Will need to examine your eyes to understand what’s going on. A lot of over the counter eye drops are available for allergies. But again, get your eyes examined first.

I have RA from which I realized in 2012, from 2015 i am having severe eye pain yearly once. Mostly it happens around august month. I need to diagnose it every year with doctor visit it goes away after troubling me for at least 2-3 weeks. Is there a permanent solution for this? Will this be serious in the future? Do I need to be more cautious?

@@johnmichael6566 hi this video is about scleritis which affects the eyes and it’s underlying cause could be an autoimmune disease if it’s recurrent . Is you’re having such symptoms in the eyes , I would recommend seeing your eye doctor and PCP/ rheumatologist

Hello I have scleritis, been having this since November and havent gone away I have rhuematoid arthritis I have been having RA since I was 26 been on and off medication for RA now i have been put on hymiroz medication because the retina specialist said thats what will help with my scleritis so far have done 8 injections pens and have not seen a difference with my scleritis it's still there they told me usually takes 3 months to kick in is there anything that you can advise me.

@@Sandi14. so scleritis affects the sclera and if you have recurrent scleritis , it warrants attention immediately as I have mentioned in the video . Please get help in the form of steroid eye drops or even IV steroids if condition doesn’t get better .
Get HLA markers checked again to pin point any other autoimmune disease . Immunomodulators is another treatment option .
I hope that helps . Early treatment is extremely important for scleritis . It’s painful and can cause permanent vision loss if treatment is delayed .
Hymitoz is adalimumab which is also used for RA , but if ur not showing improvement , it’s always good to go for other treatment options .

    Hi dr
I have been diagnosed with scleritis recurring since past 7 months ..i also had few episodes on n off in the past 5 year which subsided with a mild local steroid and one significant continuous episode in entire first trimester of pregnancy almost 3 yrs ago..but until before 7 months it was mangeable with nsaid and mild steroid ..but since these recent episodes nothing seems to help , i have even done an autoimmune profile of hla, ana,rf etc ..everything is negative other than pcna component of ana profile which is boderline positive. I also think there is a hormonal component to it as it is more flared up in pre menstural phase of my cycle and since it was also present in pregnancy…one of the doctors suggested to start mycophenolate but I’m skeptical since most of the markers r negative and i have no other symptoms what so ever…do u think ocp will help? Any other advice pleaseee
    I hope u reply

Hello . The treatment for scleritis is steroids , NSAIDS, oral antibiotics and anti viral .
Your internist should be able to adjust the dosage of steroids - topical and oral . Also get your eyes checked more frequently since prognosis needs to be monitored.

Hello Dr Fatima please advise me, I've had a inflammation 9 years ago which caused bad headache above eyes when I was 14 years old (was admitted and almost lost vision on one eye ) but prednisone showed improvements and got my vision back and then slowly tapering I was good (they said it was pseudo tumor).
Then in 2018 had again the same inflammation but dr knew history so started prednisone and got better in a month.
(Also I'll be honest I used to smoke weed and cig some times but completely stopped everything for a while now)
Then in 2019 same happened took prednisone but on tapering inflammation came back, this kept happening. Did MRI ( done like 8-10 MRIs in my life lol) it said its pscelritis
(Also my headache kept changing sides after some months )
Was taking Prednisone for too long so Dr advised immune suppressive mychophenolate but tbh it never helped much, so with ibuprofen I was able to stop prednisone recently. ( Eye sight is 20/20)
Now I have to take 400- 800 mg ibuprofen most days, should I started prednisone again ?
My doctor again said to do MRI again before meeting
as MRI over the past never showed anything in detail from 2019 just a small inflammation. (As I was on prednisone)
I'm sorry for long comment but if you could just suggest me something it'd be very helpful 🙏🙏

Hi . I would recommend a full dilated exam with repeat MRI with and without contrast . If it’s pseudotumor cerebri , then spinal tap and diamox is recommended.

Please consult with your local eye specialist and primary care physician for further evaluation. What’s the dosage of steroid drops ? Scleritis should be treated more aggressively with oral steroids and sometimes even IV steroids depending on severity of condition. This can be monitored by your hospitalist .
