You had a task you needed to complete, you didn't complete it, and now you're suffering the consequences. Showing them that making mistakes has no consequences and that they can just get away with such behaviour is awful parenting.

You need to raise kids to be independent and take care of themselves, babysitting them till they are adults isn't helpful. We'd usually get money for school lunch, but if we forgot the money, we wouldn't have what to eat, so you'd either save up or make sure you take the money in the morning. No parent is gonna drop what they are doing to come bring you money or lunch. That's on you, and it's only a few hours, you'll live. Next time, you won't forget. And this goes for anything you have to do, lunch is just an example. Saving your kid every time they make a mistake teaches them nothing. They'll grow up entitled and expecting everyone else but themselves to solve their issues.
