  • Hey there ya'll, this little adventure had its ups and downs 😂 Please make sure to like, subscribe, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
    I had the best time exploring and tarp camping on a beautiful island, featuring a sunset dinner and an owl sighting 😍 but then things took a bit of a turn the next day... but hey all's well that ends well, right?
    ‼️ Also please keep in mind that what I'm doing here is not necessarily wise or safe and that you should definitely take precautions if you plan on adventuring with an inflatable boat (examples: I am a good swimmer and make an effort not to stray too far from solid ground for me to be uncomfortable swimming back if necessary. My boat has 3 separate inflatable sections, so even if one is damaged/hooked I'd still be able to row back to safety, and lastly I would advise you to get a buoyancy aid!)

    Great adventure camping! Also good call on watching the weather and crossing when its safe. Nice name for your boat, that cracked me up. 😅 I call my kayak the S.S. Stay safe on your adventures, good luck fishing and have a great week!

    Despite the conditions you still looked like you had a good time. I have been windbound with my canoe on some of my trips and it can be stressful, on that diggy the wind would be really tough. Good on you trying the tarp camping. It definitely takes some getting used to but it can be fun, especially when the bugs are gone. I did my first tarp camping trip two years ago and it was a good trip, I enjoyed filming it. Anyways thanks for sharing the video, nice work.

    • @inaroams
      @inaroams  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your sweet comment! Yea wind in a canoe is already not great... but in a boat made out of air & with no keel... the struggle is unreal 😂 A tarp is nice for a short trip where you can't bring much, but I doubt I'd ever opt for it for long trips tbh! Thanks for watching 😊

  • @danielcargill8019

    I was lucky enough to grow up on a river, so water saftey was paramount in my house. If you are not trying to get to a specific destination for an out and back, some of the best advice I received for paddling was to start the trip by paddling upstream (or into the wind on a lake or when it is stronger than the current). This way you don't have to fight those external forces and get stranded/too exhausted to make it back. Plus this will allow your lure to time to sink if you are trolling against the wind.

    • @inaroams
      @inaroams  Рік тому +1

      That’s solid advice for flowing waters such as streams and rivers, won’t help on a lake where the current depends on wind direction sadly… just have to check the report and hope for the best 😅 thanks for watching!

    I'm new here and new to your channel. I saw/heard of the weather getting you down and thought of my own feelings in that circumstance. As a solo camper in remote areas I absolutely love it if the storms roll in. The wildness and the beauty of it all really stirs my soul.

    • @inaroams

      If I’m just solo camping I feel the exact same way! But being stuck on an island with a rubber boat was a bit different, especially since I was planning on fishing :(

    • @BillSaltbush

      Ha ha ha! @@inaroams I understand what you mean. Fishing is fun too. I contain myself to flyfishing - I'm a tragic. 😃 😃
      The fine and artful nuances of that style fits very well with my enjoyment of the isolation, the beauty and wildness of our remote wildernesses.
      Go well, Ina, go well.

    Beautiful views as always. Since you can swim from the island to shore, which is why you said that you don't need a floatation device, you could have just tied one end of a rope to the boat, the other end to yourself, and then swam back to shore while towing the boat behind you.
    Personally, I think that a floatation device not only make you safer when in choppy waters but, if you have to swim for a distance, will allow you to take breaks when tired as you will float instead of sinking. But that's just me and what do I know, I have owned boats, canoes & kayaks but have only been going out on the water for about twice as long as you have been alive, so I am sure that I have a lot left to learn...

    • @inaroams
      @inaroams  Рік тому +4

      Thanks! Well if the waves are too big for the boat they aren't great to swim in either😅, plus then i'd have to swim from the inner island to the island closer to land and then from there to the mainland... from there I would have to carry all my gear and the boat back to the car without a backpack, my car was about a 2 hour hike through dense forest away from where i would have reached the shore ... so nope that was not a good option 😂 (aside from that the distance between the islands is something I would swim in an emergency, this was not an emergency and swimming that far for no good reason while dragging a boat would be an unnecessary risk). I maybe younger but I do have experiences with canoes and kayaks too, you do what you are comfortable with 🤍
