It is not so easy to find contemporary information about Africa here. I don't see much about it in our own main stream media, when I do, the media often try to serve a certain narrative. I have become more interested in history over the past month and realized there is hardly anything concerning my African heritage that doesnt have anything to do with slavery. I was surprised to find that there is hardly any information concerning Africa that is positive and speaks of Africa on it's own not just as a place that was "Discovered." When I did my ancestry dna estimate I found that I am 24% Benin/Togo. Summary the common of how Haitians are descendants from this part of Africa and I've always felt close to Caribbean culture. But the moment I got my results back I saw no Caribbee and islands lit on the map

Useful info. I am from a former Antillean French colony. My ancestry DNA profile indicates that my ancestors came from the Benin/Togo region. I have started to research/learn more about the region. I did not previously know that Benin official language is French, but it made total sense to me.

Great facts, I'm not sure if some of the viewers notice the spinning and dancing that was going on in the video, but Benin is also said to be the origin of Voodoun or Voodoo. I believe every year they have the Voodoun festival and this is one country that has a high population of people practicing their indigenous religious beliefs rather than the mainstream religions.
