- With the release of Renfield, Nicolas Cage finally steps into the role of an actual Vampire; Dracula no less. But thirty-five years ago, Nic Cage played Peter Loew, a New York yuppie who thought he was becoming a vampire, and turned him into one of his most iconic performances. Vampire’s Kiss has found a second life on the internet thanks to some iconic Nicolas Cage memes. But here’s the thing, Vampire’s Kiss not only gave birth to the Nic Cage meme, it proved to Cage that his absurd performances were part of his charm and led to roles that generated tons of funny memes, like “Not the bees” from Wicker Man and his recent Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal meme from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
In this video, we’re not going to look at just one Nicolas Cage meme, but all of the best memes. So, try not to laugh, because this video deep dive into the origin of Vampire’s Kiss best scenes, the Vampire’s Kiss Alphabet freakout. Using a Nicolas Cage interview or two we explore the origin of how he designed the performance and how he channeled his father to generate this iconic Nicolas cage meme.
In another Nicolas Cage interview, he talks about how he uses independent cinema “almost like a laboratory” and tries to apply it to big blockbusters. He straight up links Vampire’s Kiss to Face/Off. So, without Vampire’s Kiss there would be no Face Off beginning scene or any of the numerous FaceOff memes.
Still, some of the “Nicolas Cage best scenes” come from movies he did in the 2000’s like The Wicker Man, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, and Mom and Dad.
If you haven’t noticed some of Nicolas Cage’s most dank memes are generally the spawn of classic Nicolas Cage freakouts, which is why the Nicolas Cage freakout in Mandy is one of his best.
This video is more than just a Nicolas Cage meme compilation, it seeks to explore and give context to some of the best performances of Nic Cage, that also turned out to have second lives as classic memes on the internet.

I think Face/Off is an amazing display of both Nick Cage and Travolta's acting abilities, because they completely act like each other. It's incredible to witness.
Truly. That movie really showed me what they both could achieve
When Werner says that Nic "really _went_ for it", is the widest I've ever seen him open his eyes. Nic is a miracle worker.
The unbearable weight of massive talent is such a fun watch for all you cage lovers
‘All you’ you mean . Singular cage lover, if even.
Nic Cage is at his Cagiest when he's let out of his Cage. An Uncaged Cage is the best Cage.
did anybody else notice JIM CAREY acting alongside him in these clips of Peggy Sue Got Married? the craziest acting duo of all time!!
The journey of The Cage is legendary. Excellent look back, and the actor, he is today
Also Spider-Man: Noir. Seriously deserves his own film
Extra note: Cage & Bruce Campbell in a film together. Has that ever happened?
Because if not. Why? It would be epic
Bruce: That'd be Groovy.
Cage: Ya don't say?
I did know about his impressionist approach...not so much the path it took in the movies but I think everyone knows it broke out in Vampire's Kiss. I never heard of this Peggy Sue movie but I really want to see it now.
Vampires Kiss is a great movie, one of my favorites, and what really makes it work is how the other actors meet Cages energy and how their reactions to him give his character form. He's great in the movie but it wouldn't work if it was just that.
Literally just watched this last night after Renfield and now you're feeding me this good???? Bless up CineFix
Recently watched army of one and he’s perfect for that role. Another wild character brought to life by Cage.
When Mandy came out the NYT did a great profile on him & he goes into his cultivated acting style (esp with kabuki theatre), and you realize there IS method to his madness.
also I read that he just been through a divorce before shooting that film so he had real emotions to draw from as well
do you guys have link to the profile? seems fascinating
So funny you dropped this today. Earlier this week I worked a Wicker man meme into a corporate all-staff memo in my company & got nothing but positive replies from the entertained people that caught it.
This is so well researched. I love that you cut together the references with the example scene.
Please do similar The birth of Sam Raimi Spider Man meme machine. Why early 2000s Spiderman movies are still memed to death whereas modern movies are hardly memed for couple of month before they are forgotten.
Came here to remind the creators about The Walking Dead: Whats the difference? Series. Hope it gets continued
I can't believe I've never realized that was Nic Cage in Birdy. I saw that when it came out, didn't really get into it (too young) and never revisited it. Which is weird, because when I saw Matt Modine in Gross Anatomy, my thought was "Oh, the Birdy guy."
I think the question is can Nicholas Cage be subtle?
10:49 you cut it at one of the funniest physical comedy bits in the whole movie!
Really loved this. I wish I knew more about his working with Lynch. Seeing that flash of a scene snd thinking back to some of the interesting choices in that movie....
I was a little surprised when I saw this movie had a blu-ray release, although wasn't surprised that it was in a bargain bin. After I purchased it for around $5 and watched it, was quite pleased at how well it's held up.
Dude, he’s one of a kind. No one’s like him.
Nick Cage is incredibly versatile. His role in Gone In 60 Seconds wasn't over the top but it has my favorite Cage quote "You take 80 from 2 hunderet and we make a deal! Aright!" Classic manic energy just creeping in.
Sheesh, learn a foreign language properly before using it.
Good lord....
Nouveau Shaman of acting.
There is, and will always be, only one Niiiiic fucking Cage.
Wow I just watched it last night and loved it
Have you guys done a "best detective movies"?
We've been having a fun time thinking about the detective archetypes, and realized that things like the "tortured genius" and the "underestimated expert" have a million examples on TV but far fewer good movies. Sherlock & Ms. Marple come instantly to mind, but for great movies using those, we really had to dig. Other archetypes like "overestimated doofus" and "gumshoe" seem to work much more easily on film.
Seems like a fun video idea...
Vampire's Kiss ends up being so bad it's good
You should do Planet of the Apes book and Movie what’s the difference video
This video should be 3 hours long
my favorite comedy film!
Raising Arizona and Wild At Heart are his two best movies
It's not like I have anything better to do in my spare time
Nicolas Cage is a master of acting
11:20 - 11:25 Nicholas Cage is more The Terminator than Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger
Abed needs to see this...
I'm a cat. I'm a sexy cat.
Cage would've made a great Joker!
Honorable mention: Bangkok Dangerous
one of the greatest actors of our generation
Loved Bad Lieutenant.
Don’t tell me I am the only person who remembers this channel as the Homemade Trailer channel😂😂😂
II thought it was pretty clear by now, but if not, I'll keep asking for this list until I get it
4:20 is that Jim Carrey!
Please bring back Walking Dead What’s the difference series 🥺
So oops!
No Clint , no video
I am entertained watching his movies since Face/Off but one thing I really hate in some of his recent movies was the shaky-cam...this style always gives me headaches and I could hardly focus on his "Cagey" antics.
You don't say?
Please make a list of the top 10 "bigger than life" characters in movies. Characters like Tyler Durden in fight club, kambei Shimada in seven samurai, and Harry Lime in the third man. All amazing characters that deserve their own list.
Hahahahahaha
The Walking Dead season 4 what’s the difference video please 🙏
I like the year 2026 because will be an interesed year obviously
So you are making correct arguments about the methods used by Cage and yet mention by passing that the film was "not great". Why? What reason is there besides the assumed truth that expressionistic acting is not high art.
The film is great. Great Cinematography, Great symbolism, great Performances all around, great satirical commentary. You brought no arguments against its greatness because there are not a lot to be found.
TOOO LATE TOOO LATE
People who still criticize a Cage performance for being "too unrealistic" have completely missed the point. And people who claim that "Cage must be insane IRL" are equally clueless.
Nic may have the genetics of a a nepo baby, but he's more than proved his chops. He's definitely his own performer.
“Threading a needle between humor and comedy”? Wut? I think it was a mistake on the script but also totally accurate for a Nic Cage performance
And i don't like bad movies obviously
And sorry for ruin the year 2026
completly disagree....he is an ok actor....
this channel is falling so hard. once a great source of learning filmmaking online, but now it's just occasional gems that pop up once in a while
What? I hear this a lot in the comments, but it seems like every video it's someone calling that video a gem that reminds them of the old ones...which ones in particular are failing? Which ones are any different than the old videos?
Cringing every time I hear meme
I dont like this narrator at all.
He doesn’t like you either
"one of his most iconic performances."? Behave yourselves. That film was long forgotten until the meme came along. It tanked at the box office and got middling reviews at best. Stop trying to make out it's some hidden gem because a goofy face got turned into a meme over a decade ago.
It's the opposite of "iconic" - not that that word means anything anymore. It can get put in a sack with "cursed" "Wholesome" "under-rated" "goat", that whole "iceberg" thing and tier lists and be dumped in the ocean.
