FYI: I have tried this same method with embroidery floss. It works, but the end result is much narrower than with the braiding chord. To achieve a similar look with floss I would recommend doubling or even tripling each string. The pattern stays the same, but each string is now thicker.
It’s 2021, I’m 31 and I’m in need of nostalgia and inspiration. Thank you for this :). I used to make hemp anklets and necklaces all the time as a teen.
Thank you I really wanted to know how to make them with two colors because I only knew with one and it felt so confusing but after watching your video I did one and it turned out really good!❤
I used the regular friendship bracelet string and it worked. Or thread. Whatever you wanna call it. Also, just saying a good way to explain if someone gets lost at the end, while working on the bracelet I realized that my boarder color (which in the video is pink) is always going to make the "P shape". Then the inside color (blue) is always going to be the one to loop under. If that makes sense. You did a AWESOME job on the video! Just quit doubting yourself so much.(:
Okay...I've watched several adults' confusing ass macrame tuts lol....YOURS is BY FAR the best! You are super cute in your instruction too haha. Good job, doll 😘 ✌ 🌼
Thank Thank Thank you so so very much! I have tried and tried to understand how to make these but I am a visual learner and never could figure it out 😭 My boyfriend read one thing on Pinterest and made me a perfect bracelet 1st time 😐 He wanted one in return and months of trying still could not pull it off! He is going to be surprised 😊😊😊 Thanks to you😊😊😊
TINA Nina That is so wonderful to hear! This video is embarrassingly old, haha, but I’m glad that people are still able to learn from it. Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words. :)
Very nice video. Will try this. My problem is one side of my cord always gets shorter than the other, even when I start knotting at the same length. I go slow and pull cord evenly. Please help.
Great video. It was really nice, I was looking for this video for quite a while now and I finally found it! A lot of talking though. I think less talking would have made it perfect. 😊
I am not even lieing, this is seriously THEE best how-to video on youtube that I have ever seen!! Your bracelets are so beautiful Omg I can't wait to try them.. awesome job girl!!
Lynn Martin The easiest and quickest way is just tying the strings together in a knot :) depending on the material it also common in macrame to burn the ends and make more neat ties
I just have a question, can u tell me is there a reason that there has to be 2 cords in the middle instead of one? I always use one so I'm just curious what it's for. Thank you!
Hemp would be very good. Like I showed in the video, I got whatever "braiding cords" is; I just found it at Wal-Mart. But you can use hemp for these kind of bracelets.
David Lovvorn As long as the hole is big enough for both base strings to fit through, then yes! I've actually never tried using beads for this type of bracelet, so it's possible that it could slightly alter the look of the pattern. But it is definitely doable.
I actually don't have a video on that at all, and I'm more of a "visual" teacher, ha ha. So I can make a video on that if you'd like me to? I've actually considered it a few times!
Kinda hard to describe without any visuals but you would want to tape your new string to the clipboard (and tape back your short string if it makes it easier to work with too) and then be a bit careful while continuing the bracelet (it should kind of “lock in” after a few knots), then go back to your loose ends when you’re done and tie them off in the back and cut them. It’s not the most clean but it gets the job done.
Closing it, you can just use the ends and tie them around your wrist - simple as that. And what I like to do is, while I'm making my bracelet, take it off my clipboard and measure it ON my wrist to see how long it should be.
No matter what I do the knots wont stay at the top. As soon as I go to make the next "four" the knot starts falling towards the middle. I'm using embroidery floss so that's quite possibly the problem
The PfoneGuy Embroidery floss is a little more finicky with this pattern. Use super light tension when you start making the knot, then pull tighter when you complete it so that it doesn’t get pulled down. You could also push the knots up too when it starts to “sag” like that.
You will twirl it around your wrist 5 times, cut it, and then take another strand of that same color and match it to the first one then cut that. So both of those pieces should be quite long, but they are separate.
You can just take all the strings and tie them into a knot. (If I would’ve known this video would be as popular as it is I would’ve done a much better job at filming it haha.)
It doesn't matter whether the blue is on the left and pink on right or vice versa because this layout of strings (two of same colour on one side and the other two of a different colour on the other side) makes a reversible bracelet. one one side it will be blue in middle and on the other side it will be pink in the middle.
Elena Nicole You can take all the strings together and tie them into a knot (on both ends) and then you can make the bracelet adjustable if you’d like - which I’m sure there are a lot of video tutorials on!
FYI: I have tried this same method with embroidery floss. It works, but the end result is much narrower than with the braiding chord. To achieve a similar look with floss I would recommend doubling or even tripling each string. The pattern stays the same, but each string is now thicker.
Yeah, I have used embroidery floss also and I would always double the string.
Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you!!
100th like!
It’s 2021, I’m 31 and I’m in need of nostalgia and inspiration. Thank you for this :). I used to make hemp anklets and necklaces all the time as a teen.
Thank YOU for watching, that is so sweet!! I am in my 20s and am still totally in love with making bracelets. I probably will be for a long time! 😊
Thank you so much for this video. I enjoyed watching it. Your description on how to do it was understandable specially for us visual learners.
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the troubleshooting tip about how to tell which knot you ended with. Thx! 😁💕
I appreciate you sharing this video. And I will refer to it often I'm sure.
I made this bracelet with rainbow cord for the sides, and black in the middle. I really like how it turned out. Thank you so much for teaching me how.
Brilliant video extremely useful (especially the part about getting lost on which string) thank you so much
That was an excellent tutorial. Thanks so much for taking the time to share. I really like your choice of colours, particularly the blue and pink.
I never find bracelets as good as this
thank you!!! this video was the easiest to understand :)
Thank you! I am a visual learner and all the other videos didn't help at all that made perfect sense
Thank you I really wanted to know how to make them with two colors because I only knew with one and it felt so confusing but after watching your video I did one and it turned out really good!❤
Really helpful. i made around 27 bracelets for my friends and family.
FOR FREE?!
thanks so much i have tried and didnt see to get a hang of it until now thanks again so clear and visual
Great video. Thanks for sharing this! 💖😍

Your explanation was amazing. Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Okay...I've watched several adults' confusing ass macrame tuts lol....YOURS is BY FAR the best! You are super cute in your instruction too haha. Good job, doll 😘 ✌ 🌼
Why are you calling a random indiviual doll? That's creepy
A superb idea and it is very easy
THANKS SO MUCH! I have been looking for a vid for weeks on this!!!
Instead of a clipboard and tape, you can use a dry erase board and clamps!! Works as well!!!
This is an easy fun bracelet to make for oldsters like me. Thanks
Thank you sooo much I would have never been able to do it if you won't have shown me!!!! :) thanks again!
You did a great job, plus explained a lot of questions I had
Spunkygma happy Thank you for your feedback!
I loved the "you know what I'm saying? I guess you can´t answer me..." hahaha
Ha ha, I try to add a little bit of fun to my videos every once in a while. :)

Mariana Baca
Mariana Baca .i love you
" I'd bring them out but I don't know where they are at the moment." Why does this have to describe my life perfectly?
Thank Thank Thank you so so very much! I have tried and tried to understand how to make these but I am a visual learner and never could figure it out 😭 My boyfriend read one thing on Pinterest and made me a perfect bracelet 1st time 😐 He wanted one in return and months of trying still could not pull it off! loved the video but how do you finish the bracelet?
I love this bracelet.. it's mindblowing designs
Thank you so much this helped me so much! 👍
Great video loved it SO much!!!Thanks for the help!!!! :)
VERY helpful! You did a great job showing and explaining. Thank you!
"It's called Braiding cords, I don't know what it's called" well I guess no one will ever know
How about never posting your comments again. Obviously, the girl done a kick ass job. You watched it.
STEPHANIE EDWARDS this comment was 2yrs ago chill 😭
The cords r thread it's just thread
It looks good
Awesome tutorial!
At first I thought it was very hard to do but thanks for this video
Thanks for your videos. Very clear and precise!
Very nice video. Will try this. My problem is one side of my cord always gets shorter than the other, even when I start knotting at the same length. I go slow and pull cord evenly. Please help.
These are so cool! Thanks for sharing :)
Great video. It was really nice, I was looking for this video for quite a while now and I finally found it! A lot of talking though. I think less talking would have made it perfect. 😊
Raiyah Babinsky Even 7 years later I still have problems with talking too much. 😅 Thank you!
Can you use hemp for this bracelet? Nice design; good video to follow.
yeah it works
this helped a lot thanks
i am wondering how you finish the bracelet, do you use all four at the end of cut two of them off? i know how to the adjustable part
Hey i know how come to my channel and I will teach you i figured it out today
Yes...HOW DO YOU FINISH THE BRACELET!!!!!!
Great video! Thank you
How do you close them? The ending?
Laura Cruz, I wish I knew too.
The Smithies you tie it in knot or you you can burn the edges
Great tutorial! Easy to follow, thank you.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL
I am not even lieing, this is seriously THEE best how-to video on youtube that I have ever seen!! Your bracelets are so beautiful Omg I can't wait to try them.. awesome job girl!!
Thank you this tutorial! (:
Nice explaining how to make it 👍🏾 but you didn’t say how you secure the ends of the bracelet
Lynn Martin The easiest and quickest way is just tying the strings together in a knot :) depending on the material it also common in macrame to burn the ends and make more neat ties
Thank you!
You’re not so good at explaining but you’re amazing at doing it
i like it how you explain what to do
I love this video!
How do you join the two ends when u wear it? Can u show us or something?
Sorry for the wait on a reply. If you are still interested, I can make a video on it to make it more clear instead of typing it out here.
its okay. and yeah, can you please make a video? :)) thanks!
I really wish I knew how I end it please let me know super soon!! Bye loved your tutorial!!
The Smithies The easiest method for this material is to just gather all your strings together and tie them in a knot!
I just have a question, can u tell me is there a reason that there has to be 2 cords in the middle instead of one? I always use one so I'm just curious what it's for. Thank you!
I think it really just adds thickness to the bracelet more than anything. 🙂
Hemp would be very good.
Like I showed in the video, I got whatever "braiding cords" is; I just found it at Wal-Mart. But you can use hemp for these kind of bracelets.
So happy u did this slow thanks for the help
Nice! I will do the same on my youtube
Thse are very pretty. Great tutorial!
Can you toss a couple beads on the middle strings and tie around them?
David Lovvorn As long as the hole is big enough for both base strings to fit through, then yes! I've actually never tried using beads for this type of bracelet, so it's possible that it could slightly alter the look of the pattern. But it is definitely doable.
Guys the materials are cotton braiding cord you can find it at Walmart or Joanna's
I've been doing hemp for about a month, and decided I need to learn how to do something else with it. haha. How do I thread the beads?
I actually don't have a video on that at all, and I'm more of a "visual" teacher, ha ha. So I can make a video on that if you'd like me to? I've actually considered it a few times!
I found out how to do it, thanks though! :)
very nice n easy.
Can u use normal thread instead (like for friendship bracelets)?
Helena Gozali The bracelet will look just a bit different but you definitely can!
You should explain how to knot off at the end.....
SELMA ZOLOTAS You can gather up all of your strings and tie them in a knot and then do whatever kind of ends you want to them.
Does the middle stings need to be shorter?
I ran out of string in my bracelet super short what do I do?
Kinda hard to describe without any visuals but you would want to tape your new string to the clipboard (and tape back your short string if it makes it easier to work with too) and then be a bit careful while continuing the bracelet (it should kind of “lock in” after a few knots), then go back to your loose ends when you’re done and tie them off in the back and cut them. It’s not the most clean but it gets the job done.
How do u close it and also how many loops do u make if your rest is tiny?
Closing it, you can just use the ends and tie them around your wrist - simple as that. And what I like to do is, while I'm making my bracelet, take it off my clipboard and measure it ON my wrist to see how long it should be.
Thank you :) it worked
How do u finish off the bracelet tho.
How is the end of bracelet??
Good job
How do you make the slip knote
No matter what I do the knots wont stay at the top. As soon as I go to make the next "four" the knot starts falling towards the middle. I'm using embroidery floss so that's quite possibly the problem
The PfoneGuy Embroidery floss is a little more finicky with this pattern. Use super light tension when you start making the knot, then pull tighter when you complete it so that it doesn’t get pulled down. You could also push the knots up too when it starts to “sag” like that.
Please tell me why mine is twisting? Is this a normal occurrence or am I doing something wrong.
Carla Allen Are you knotting too tight?
This is really useful, thank you for this!
lyraface No problem! This video is embarrassingly old but I'm glad there are people still learning from it. :)
this is so cool
88countrygorls88 what kind of string is that?? Please tell me
how to end bracelet
I want to thank you so much I understand the square not really well now thank you so much
lizzy gesualdo
Tie a knot then braid the rest until it fits your wrist. Then tie a knot again. Or just watch simpleDIY's tutorial
Do we have to cut it into two pieces or do the we have to cut it into 5 Twirls around your risk
You will twirl it around your wrist 5 times, cut it, and then take another strand of that same color and match it to the first one then cut that. So both of those pieces should be quite long, but they are separate.
Thank you 👍❤️
You are very good for video
Γιωργος Τεραστιος ένας Έλληνας 😂😂
OMG THANK UUUUUU
Thanks. Makes sense to me.
Do u have 4 strings or 2 strings?
4 individual strings, 2 different colors
can't we use anything else instead of this
Thank you!! :D I really wanted to make one of these and thanks to you I could!
Except I dont have the right thread
thanks for sharing !!!
Doesn't show how to end the bracelet or connect the 2 ends together
You can just take all the strings and tie them into a knot. (If I would’ve known this video would be as popular as it is I would’ve done a much better job at filming it haha.)
What kind of string did you use?
It doesn't matter whether the blue is on the left and pink on right or vice versa because this layout of strings (two of same colour on one side and the other two of a different colour on the other side) makes a reversible bracelet. one one side it will be blue in middle and on the other side it will be pink in the middle.
I think that you the not need 2 strings on the midlle, one is enough, but not shure
you can do it with one but it would not turn exactly like this
Will normal thread work?
Is it waterproof
Luv it
how do you tie it off ??
Elena Nicole You can take all the strings together and tie them into a knot (on both ends) and then you can make the bracelet adjustable if you’d like - which I’m sure there are a lot of video tutorials on!
how do you make it
Whick knot it is ?
How do I end the bracelet
Osmara Lara, I need to know too
The Smithies just tie the ends together
