    Spent 5 hours lining up the bolts. Put the bushing piece in first with the bracket part of the arm barely on. Put your bolt in the bushing first. Tighten just enough so it catches the top threads. Then put the ball joint by the wheel in. Tilt the brake rotors back and forth till the joint can slip in. Then put the bolts in for the bracket piece. Bushing, ball joint, bracket. Then tighten all. Would've saved us 4 and a half hours.

      About to tackle this job this weekend, did you have issues lining up both the single bolt and the dual bolts in the back? Also, was there any issues installing the ball joint knuckle? Did you tighten the three bolts first then install the ball joint?

      @@enigmaone7055 @Enigma One Yes, we had problems with lining up the bolts. Do the single bolt first. We used a long screw driver to line up the holes before putting the bolt in. Don't tighten it all the way. Just enough to reach the top threads. Then do the ball joint and then the dual bolts in back (again lined up with the help of a long screw driver). It was very difficult for us when trying it in any other order. Don't tighten any of the bolts until they're all in. It's hard to work with if you do.

      I came to the comments to warn of this exactly. Rearward bushing needs to be put in first or you are going to go mad trying to get it in.
      Also, it helps to know that once it's all on there, do NOT tighten your bolts all the way tight. get them snugged up good, then get the wheels back on and get the car back on the ground. THEN tighten your control arm bolts the rest of the way. Otherwise the bushings will be constantly twisted while the car is in a resting position.

    Appreciate the insight! So glad not having to drop the subframe like the older models seem to need

    Good video! Just did right side on a 2018. I had to remove wheel well cover, sway bar link and tie rod for easier removal/installation. I didn’t struggle because of that I installed/leveled the 21mm first then other 2 18mm ball joint last. It was easier for me like this because I have no lift!

    Thanks for sharing this video. I hear the squeaking noise when I turn the wheel or while driving. I thought it was the struts as well as the control arms.

    Thanks for the video. I have a clunking sound coming from the driver's side of my 2013. I replaced the struts and sway bar links about 10k ago so I think it might be this same problem you are fixing here. I will take a look at the control arm, do you have any advice in diagnosing control arm/ball joint issues on these fusions?

    • @ARDG89
      @ARDG89 3 роки тому +1

      Yeah I had the same sound to so replaced my struts and still making the sound lol just bought a control arm set myself, can't wait to get rid of the sound.

      I have the same noise from all 4 corners of my Fusion. I just replaced all the struts and sway bar links. I'm thinking I'm going to have to replace all the control arms. Sucks I can't just replace the bushings.

      What to do if the ball joint is stuck in the knuckle? I’ve spent two full days, maybe 18 hours trying to get it free, it won’t budge at all.

    You don’t need to compress the spring right after jacking up the front end on a hybrid, right? I’ve read other cars you do but just want to make sure I’m not missing something before I tackle this.

    This video is very misleading…not an easy job. It takes hours to line the bolts up. A part that was completely skipped in this video.
