This really is the secret to Morgan's distinct style. He often sounds like he messing up or "losing it", but it's always in time. He knows where to land every time.
Totally impressed.. and with his vintage boomy drums and cymbals
This is a brilliant idea. Can't wait to try this
Morgan Agren is one of the greats. Has his own voice on the instrument. Stunning drum kit to!
kit is verrrrry beautiful 😍❤️
A beast on the drums, but most importantly, a great musician, with his own original voice. An inspiration
Oh man, I've been following Morgan for decades! Every time I see / hear him here in the US, life gets a little better. Thanks!
I love how Morgan explains his drumming. I'm not even a drummer but I can understand what he's doing and what his thought process is, no matter how complicated it is.
Very inspiring. Haven't hear such a good vintage Bonham/Baker sound for a long time.
Ive been doing this type of solos because of him, ever since I heard Special Defects back in 2000s
Still my all time favorite album.
A Swedish legend. Awesome drumming.
I love everything about this video! Grate exercise from one of the greatest: Morgan Ågren. Notice he wasn’t out of breath after that last exercise! Beautiful drum kit! Morgan makes them sing. Love that dark snare to the left. Time to make these multi talented musicians the stars and role-models they deserve! The kids deserve positive role-models! Not “Big Brother”!
Great exercise but man those drums sound great...really open. Love it
Riktigt nice Morgan, grymt sound i burkarna.
That drumkit is badass! My first drumkit that I bought in 1982 for $200 and still have, was a late 60's Slingerland blue satin-flame.
Awesome!
Impressed!
Great lesson! Thanks for posting this.
Great control and concepts very nice ideas
What a sound ...!!

Fabtastic! Drums sound amazing too.

Jättebra Morgan!
Super Supreme sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa fantastic drumming and the kit sounds beautiful too - big thumb up here...
Just an amazing musician, human and the rumor has it he's a drummer! 😉 Truly great!!!!
Thank you Morgan, that was great. You really do some great vocalization(?) too! Reminds me of Ravi Shankar. And you are clearly a graduate of the Jack Black inward singing course!
And this is only his drumming , listen to his cd's with his blind partner in positive music crime , Mats Oberg : Thanks for Flying with Us or Trends and Other Diseases , top creativity
and his work live with orchestra ... Tak for Sweden
I set here in amazement. A good friend told me about this and I Love it. You are Awesome and the tuning on the Kit is Great !!!! Thanks for this lesson and it will be a while but a great challenge....
Whatever you guys did on the shutter ... its kinda mesmerizing
Such a great example of rules based improv sounding amazing!
His makes those drums sounds so good!

Very interesting coordination challenge. Sixteenth notes creatively speaking through all limbs. My, my.

@@ArtOfDrumming no worries, the effort into these videos is awesome! Great content!!
wow. this i need to work! would help me with timing!!!!
Morgan: that's the 16th notes training for you today!
Me:(curling and crying like a baby at the corner of my room)
Amazing drummer....
but golly, how good do those drums sound? That is my kind of drum sound!! Whenever I (tried) to get this sound, engineers hated it, but I loved it.
I love that he's using one mic for two toms. Reminds me of recording on a 8 track. These drums sound awesome though!
Thats the gretsch tone you're hearing if I had to guess, its extremely distinct once you can recognize it
@@Killenmachine05 you could easily be fooled
@@morbidmanmusic is there a reason youre trying to insult me? do I know you?
I know him because of the band Kaipa. 🙃
@morganagren, excuse if I'm wrong, but I'm counting 4 bars until you hit the crash on the down beat, not 8 bars.
Love your playing!!
16ths
Exactly. Yes he's playing 16th notes. He hits the crash on the 1 on every 4 bars.
Just 45 comments? This deserves more, but the title doesn't give a hint what's inside, change that! "16 th note flow-exercise" might be helpfull. Good branding leads to more views.
Vacker blå färg på trummorna. Härligt torrt och distinkt ljud i pukorna.
Gear breakdown ?
I think he played with Frank Zappa!
Hello, what brand of drums are you playing and what is the finish on them?
Hey Vincent
Morgan is playing Gretsch drums and the finish is called aqua satin flame 👍🏻
@@ArtOfDrumming thank you! I think that finish it no longer available??
Hey awesome playing! correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a 4 bar exercise?
Yep. 4 bars, not 8. Each bar is counted 1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a, repeat that three more times, crash at start of another four bars, crash, etc.
Whipped Cream Sundae
He is like Einstein who teaching astrophysics
Wao 💪🏻 he used only 2 rudiments, single and double?
all rudiments are essentially just singles and doubles
15 fps?
You sound like the late Ginger Baker with that exercise...
Three bass drums. Is one tuned lower than the other?
The three bass drums are 24“, 22“ and 18“. While the 18“ and 24“ drums have a closed reso head and are tuned quite open, the 22“ drum has a port hole and Morgan used some muffling inside the drum. All three sound great but give him a great variety of sounds to choose from. Sometimes he also places his foot on two pedals at the same time and plays two bass drums simultaneously, combining the attack of the 22“ with the open tone of the 24“ kick drum for example.👍🏻
Yes his concept its not about metal drumming, its about having diferent sounds, like a very open jazz bass drum, or a fat r y b bass drum, or even having the bonham “mamut walking bass drum “, he is very known for the fredrick thing by almost everybody, but his vibe is not that , he is al about crazy avantgard drumming and a lot of melodic range
People keep mentioning the likes of John Bonham and Ginger Baker, but in my opinion, the greatest drummer that ever lived was Dinky Flange. Now there was a drummer ! Sadly, Dinky died in a freak accident whilst vacuum cleaning back in August of 1979.
Yes, he was awesome.
Its 4 bars!
Did he change the subdivision in the end to 32nd notes?
Almost same phrase in beginning of each 8 bar section.
Maybe he did it to make the concept clear for everybody, or Maybe thats what he heard.
I`m almost there....NOT
C’est une démonstration mais pas une leçon !
Lol, he's a free spirit but a lousy teacher. He seems to believe that humanity is a drum machine but I love him anyways.
He’s definitely giving us the benefit of the doubt lol
Awesome !
