about that first gear (i ride an urban gs). no.1 pro tip i got from old-boxer-riders in the german nineT-forum, was to put the gear in in one steady motion. meaning: to pull the clutch and, as soon as you pulled the lever, to kick-in the gear. that way the teeth of the gearbox are less likely to get stuck. works almost always. no..2 pro tip was to disengage the gear when you are already standing still (so try not to roll towards the red light in neutral, but wait until you stopped). dont know if that's really helpful, but i know that no1 works. ;)
Try double-clutching. In other words, if you are having trouble getting into first gear, leave it in neutral, let the clutch out and pull it back in, then try first again. Should snick right into first with no problem. Works every time on my two R9Ts.
yeah. every air-cooled-boxer-rider knows the feel :D another great way to avoid it in the first place is to pull the clutch and kick the gear in in one motion. meaning: leave out the commemoration-second in between pulling the clutch and putting in the gear ;)
Thanks for the vid! I've bought an R9T Pure in October. Had it modified quite a bit - special fairing, seat conversation etc ... I'm loving it. BTW - what make was the exhaust pipe? It sounds even nicer than stock, although the stock pipe is pretty good!
Knowing what you know and feel today, and if you had to choose ...the Racer or the Pure? There`s a used pure locally with 800 miles on it, or ...I can get a brand new pure. Value your opinion dude, so please let me/us know? Thanks and cheers!!
Hey Jake! Depends on what you use it for. If it’s going to be primarily a street bike, I would definitely get the Pure because of the upright riding position. The riding position on the Racer may get old fast on the street & city riding. If you’re going to see more track days I would get the Racer! Let me me know what you end up getting! Good luck & ride safe.
You can get it here www.retrobikegear.com/torc-beverly-hills-leather-gloves-red/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAg4jSBRCsARIsAB9ooatBZf7blbKclReznSdrnqOQItbqaZFBSES0lgqgUlCuO3pEVdTDmYoaArgWEALw_wcB
If the racer is comfortable for you, you my friend have a high pain tolerance.... congrats! After you ride for most of a day please let us know if you still feel the same way or were you glad to get back to your regular bike. My money would be the racer is a fling, flings are always a mistake.
The Racer riding position is not bad if your tall...The only problem I had was my wrist will go numb, after I installed Rizoma Spy R mirrors the numbness subsided. The bar ends on the Racer are made out of plastic, BMW need to add counterweight to the bar ends.
I have a 1974 BMW R75/6 and its my absolute dream bike. I cant wait to get this thing one day once I'm out of school! Love your vids man :)
Those are sweet bikes! Thanks for watching

It's always a challenge to testride bikes! But that's how we find the best bike. Merry Christmas! :-)
Agreed! Merry Christmas John 🙂
That damn 1st gear! Mine does it as well. So frustrating.

Yeah I've gotta get into the habit of releasing the clutch slowly and rocking with these gear boxes.

What fairing did you end up getting?
Which one is good for high winds ?

Nice r9t

I was looking for this comment, thanks
Go ahead and trade, you want to !
Tempting indeed!
Great looking bike....Get a back pack mate and lose the saddle bags .
It's my buddies bike, I don't use saddle bags on mine. I prefer a backpack as well.

Possibly...it was my buddies bike. It's def super fun during short runs! Thanks for watching.
sidestand - Buddies bike then that is great especially if he doesn't mind switching bikes ever once in awhile. Good luck and keep riding.
