Although his sickness was gone. So I feel that Rubiel was not forced to compete, hence he played victim without being one and it backfired, so he had to go back on his own words. Not good to be honest.

I just coached my daughter in a track meet and the situation was not desirable. I encouraged her very strongly that since we have come all this way, that she should just do it. I did not force her, and she wasn't thrilled, and she didn't perform her best, but she was thrilled that she did it after the fact. The quote to me, seems like it could also reflect a situation exactly like that. It's still too ambiguous to suggest he was forced. Also, with how immature he has seen to present himself in a number of situations, maybe it takes some adults in the room to convince him to Buck up and just do something. But that doesn't mean there's bad blood.
This is a tragedy for any athlete.
