    DESCRIPTION
    Today we have Louis coming into the Cut & Grind barbershop to get his beard chopped down in preparation for summer. He's working with barber Sophie Sky. Louis has had his beard for about two years and it's a quite sizable beard. Before getting it trimmed it's approximately 3" long, or about a six month beard.
    Because Louis wants a pretty drastic trim, Sophie is planning to trim in stages and that way go too short. Her trimming techniques start off by using a clipper with a 6 guard and ends up going with a 5 guard based on the feedback from Louis. It's important to use the clipper in multiple directions to get an equal trim of the beard.
    Once the beard has been set down to the appropriate length, Sophie begins setting the edges with the detailers. It starts with a trim by the sidelines and around the neckline. She's going with a more natural line and keeping a pretty deep neckline. She is following the same strategy and techniques to the cheek line and working with the natural shape of Louis's cheeks.
    Instead of doing a hard line for the neckline, she's going with a natural taper of the neck. This style will give Louis a little bit lower maintenance requirement for the upkeep of his beard. After trimming the mustache, Louis has a squared off beard shape with a natural neckline.
    Trimming with clippers can cause some damage to the hairs, so it's important to treat the beard hairs right after the trim. The final touch is to apply some Temple Smoke Utility Balm to hydrate and condition the beard. The before and after is quite a difference as Louis has taken off about 2.5" worth of beard growth.
    ABOUT BEARDBRAND
    Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that is helping men keep on growing by providing education and tools for urban beardsmen to master their morning routine. We’ve found that confidence starts with self investment, and allows men to do great things for their families, co-workers, and community. We are working to break down the negative stereotypes that surround bearded men, and show the world it’s the man who matters, not the way he looks.

    If the client is happy then that's what matters, that's what he wanted but I would have just had it shaped up a little bit. Anytime I trimmed my beard that short I regretted it hahah.

      Maybe he was happy with the result. But if you've ever had and cut your glorious beard off, you know exactly what kind of regret he felt after. you can see it in his eye lmao

      setam1 A beard goal for some, may be a yeard (beard + year). As the name suggests, someone grows a beard for one year until you shave it off or maintain it at a particular length. Similarly, there are guys that might have set 2 yeard or 5 yeard goals.

    Nice work. Great tips. The after looks much better, well shaped, tidy. Although, i believe i would have cut a definite neck line instead of a fade. However it is what the client wants. She did a fantastic job! 🖒

    I prefer a natural beard and that's what she consistently delivers. It's not for everyone but I never want to appear "over groomed" and Sophie's talent is suited to my taste. Many want a sharp angular look with lines underneath and up top.

    7:54 I think all beards look their best when they don't trim the mustache up to the lip. The beard looks so much fuller and more balanced here than immediately after. Personally, I would just let it grow to the sides.

      Vinayak Singh Shaving does not increase hair growth nor does it cause hair to thicken nor does it trigger hair growth in places where it does not grow. Irrespective of whether it's done on the head, arms, legs, chest or face.
      My tip would be to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, and by the time you are between 25-35 years, you would tend to see that your beard grows out really well.
      Not saying that maintaining a healthy lifestyle guarantees a long healthy beard, as genetics plays a major part in it. If your family members have glorious beards, there are high chances you will too.

    hey I have questions while growing a yeard should I trim my beard if yes then what length would be perfect?

    • @joshcarter6297
      @joshcarter6297 7 років тому +1

      adil Siddiqui give it a minimum of 90 days without touching any hairs. Then you can define a beautiful neckline, cheekline (if desired) and give some shape to the under area. If you can go 180 days even better. That way you really get a nice stone to sculpt. The length is up to you and your face shape bro, whatever you like best is probably best!

    • @aadil14912
      @aadil14912 7 років тому

      Joshua Carter I did go 3 months without trim and then got neck trimmed up

    • @joshcarter6297
      @joshcarter6297 7 років тому

      adil Siddiqui well I suppose as far as lenght goes it's quite relative. The idea is always to grow the chin hairs down and everything under it needs to be as long or shorter depending on your yeard style. Think: a straight line from the bottom of the longest chin hairs back into the adams apple. If it gets longer down there it gets too messy. Follow me?
