I feel exactly the same way about what pants to wear on travel days. I NEVER want my pants to touch the floor of a public restroom, especially in the airplane.
I’ve bought lots of Eddie Bauer Departure pants at Costco for $8-$16 dollars. They are the best! I have them in black, navy, slate blue and sage green.
😊I also have a bunch of Sketchers Go Walk pants which I bought at Costco for $9-$19. They fit and wear well with no sign of wear in 4 years. I love the pockets for cell phone, keys, etc.
I love the Eddie Bauer pants for summer, since I run pretty hot. I lost a little weight, and needed a smaller size. Usually I wait until EB has a 50% off sale, which happens pretty often. But I looked on eBay, and there were lots of them for sale. So once you know your size, it's a great option to get them even cheaper!
I would include dresses and jackets in that too! The more pockets the better, not even for travel. I love having pockets for hanky, earbuds, keys, lipgloss, phone etc etc. Just makes everyday life easier
I own Duluth NOGA pants and love them. However, the BEST Duluth pant for travel is the NOGA Namastash Slim Leg pants. It's the same stretchy fabric as the regular NOGA but has SIX pockets and is just perfect for any type of travel. Comfortable and stretchy but still stylish enough to wear anywhere. Worth every penny at full price but Duluth often runs sales as well.
My thighs are pretty hefty....I mean, healthy, lol.....and they fit me comfortably. I'm 5'8" and 205 lbs and I'm somehow able to wear a L in the 31" length. I might try an XL sometime just to see how they fit, but as of now I'm a L in the NOGA line and I'm not gonna complain. I wear my Namastash to my kid's footballs games and have no need for a bag/purse because I can comfortably tuck my small CC wallet into one thigh pocket and my phone in the other. No need to fuss with a purse that needs to be searched. I also do a lot of road trips and can often get away with not using a bag during stops since these pants carry my necessities, no problem. Oh, and the hip pockets are zippered. I genuinely can't recommend them highly enough.
I wear the original NOGA pants for travel and love them. Thanks for the tip on the slim leg version. Mine need to be replaced and when I went to the website I was confused to see so many options now.
I don't think I have ever made a comment on a UA-cam video but I purchased the Duluth pants based on your recommendation and I just have to tell you that they are the best pair of pants I've ever purchased. I am so thankful that you made this video because I have really been looking for a pair of travel pants that would be comfortable but still look good. I appreciate this so very much and I'm so thankful to have them for an upcoming trip!!
Wise choice re Spanx. I bought a pair off their website and returned. I travel a lot....totally Impractical without pockets, and frankly, didnt care for the fit. You did a great job with this review. A+
For the Canadian audience, I recommend the refined jogger from Giant Tiger (I think the brand is Lily Morgan?). They have a few different patterns but essentially the same cut and fabric. They look dressy, but they feel like sweat pants. They have pockets, too! They're also made of synthetic material so if you need to wash them in a hotel sink, they dry up fairly fast -- and pretty unwrinkled! Also, they're usually only $20-25 a pair (and that's in CANADIAN!!!). I've been wearing them on a few flights, because if I had to check my carry-on and was limited to my in-flight outfit and spare outfit in my personal item bag for a short time, these pants are comfy and versatile enough to wear to dinner, or go for a hike, or even sleep in.
I’m only 5 feet “tall,” so sometimes it’s challenging to find pants that fit well if they have a fitted cuff around the ankle. I appreciate this review, so thanks so much! Luckily, I sew, so I can hem some of the pants I purchase. I’m going to try out the Duluth Trading pants, there is a store about 40 minutes away. In all honesty, I have a special place in my heart for Duluth Trading. I used to do their website and emails from 2000-2005. (Only a couple years ago, lol.)
My perfect travel pants would be in a breathable fabric or blend, such as cotton, silk, cashmere, merino wool or even viscose. Definitely tapered at the ankle so they don’t drag on the floor. Pockets a definite plus. Still looking… 😊
I only wear tapered or joggers. People can’t seem to get bodily fluids into the toilet in public restrooms. I saw a lady with long pants that were touching the wet floor in the restroom. Gross!
Hey Christi! Right there with you on icky bathrooms. Here's my easy and cheap travel hack to turn any pair of pants temporarily into joggers - put a couple of velcro strips in your pocket and wrap them around your pants leg at the ankle or calf before you sit down. Take the strips off after you wash your hands and before you leave the restroom. Discreet and easy. :) Very helpful video, as always! Thank you for making these and greetings from upper left USA. :)
@@GenxGypsy1968 any time! Feel free to share in an upcoming travel hacks video. Your videos are 🔥🔥🔥. I appreciate you and have learned a lot from you. ❤️
@@GenxGypsy1968lol. Was visiting family last Christmas and all have cats. I ended up living in some PU leggings I brought cos the cat hair just slipped off
I just returned from Scotland and travelled with the women’s Ultra stretch quick dry light weight ankle pants by Little Donkey Andy. They have four pockets in front (two with zippers and the other two are really deep). The ultra stretch makes them super comfortable and the fabric sheds dirt and water. I was able to wear them for up to four days without washing.
The one important detail you left out is fibre content. They were all polyester, one nylon, except for the Noga which are cotton with 10% spandex. Some of us can’t stand wearing synthetics. Phone in back pocket = pickpocket magnet. Don’t use back pockets. Don’t need back pockets.
Yes - I was wondering about fibre I am trying to find a pant with more cotton and a little of the other stretch fabrics but almost all the newer “travel “ pants are synthetic blends which they say are moisture wicking so 🤷♀️
I wear Reitman’s Athletic yoga wear Hyba black pants for travel wear. Many styles and weights to suit seasons. Wait for sales in store or on line. Great deals year round.
My favorite travel pants and Athleta’s Brooklyn pant/jogger. You can also get the lined variety for the colder months. I also have a pair of wool joggers from Athleta that are 13 years old and still great.
I was hoping for that info, as well. Although, given that these are for travel, almost everyone goes for synthetic fabrics and the few of these that I have looked up were all polyester/spandex. My skin does not like synthetic fabrics and I am on the hunt for cotton or cotton blend pants for travel.
@@Woman_of_a_Certain_Age The Duluth Trading Company has NoGa Naturale pants. 90% cotton/10 % spandex. They have pockets and are super comfortable. They are on sale for $29.75 right now. They had a sale in Nov BOGO FREE.
I just want to thank you so much for this video. I have tried countless "travel pants/joggers" and have sent 99% of them back. They are either too flimsy, too thick, show every lump or bump, picked up every piece of lint or cost $100+. The CZY Athletic High Waisted Joggers are the first ones that have checked every box for me! Not too thin, not to thick, resilient and look good on my body type. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have recently bought both the Athleta Brooklyn and the Endless pants. The Brooklyn is very silky and comfortable. They are a little longer on me as I am a 4P 5’1”, they go everywhere casual for me and I have been wearing them pretty much every day around home as a casual pant. I don’t know if I would buy they again as they have the same problem that some other Athleta joggers have, and that is that the front pockets don’t lay flat, but sag a little. After I purchased the Brooklyns, I discovered the Athleta Endless, and these are game changer. I just wore them for a week in NYC and they took me from train ride to dinner to theatre. They feel great, pack great, look polished. Zipped front pockets lie flat. I find them true to size and best yet, Athleta shortened them for me for free. So far my favorite but I haven’t had them long enough to know how long they will last for the money. I am a Duluth fan and will def. Give those a try. Love your channel!
Thank you!! I agree, I think the Endless is a fantastic, all around pant, especially for those places that are a little less casual like NYC and most European cities.
I have had the CRZ golf pant for about 3 years and they held up well. Wear them to work often. I am 5' 0" and the length just barely works. My favorite travel pant option is the LL Bean vista slim leg pant. Has front zippered pockets, back patch pockets, ripstop stretch fabric that is light enough for warmer weather. The Vista collection also has jogger, cargo, and crop styles.
Love, love my Athleta pants! Always check Thred Up, I have gotten several pairs for less than $30 with the tags still attached. Thanks for the reviews!!🥰
Hey! I have both of those Athleta pants and I love them! I would also recommend all the merino wool pants. I have a few - really amazing for travel. I know they are more expensive but IMO worth it. On my recent trip to Italy I brought a pair of merino wool pants and a pair of jeans and I was totally well dressed (you have to dress better in Italy than in a lot of other places!)
What brand of merino pants do you have? I'm just starting to dip my toe into the merino wool world, LOL. So far I have a hoodie, t-shirt and base layer set, but would love to add more versatile pieces 😊
@@GenxGypsy1968 I have the Ellie pants from woolx and I have the flare navy pants from (I think) Wool &. I’ve bought stuff from all the major merino companies and they are all amazing. I also have a merino wool dress from lily silk which I took as my only dress to a conference last winter and I managed not to spill anything on it and wore it three times with different accessories and nobody knew (besides me).
I really like LuLu Lemon’s mid rise, wide leg Swift pants. They are light weight and have two front zipped pockets. I think they’re best for Spring, Summer and Fall.
I love the Go Walk. I just repurchased 2 new pair after losing weight. They are my go to pant for dinner and dress up or down depending on the top. Wash well, don’t lose their shape, don’t fade. I don’t use back pockets so that’s a “don’t care”. I like the side pockets but almost never use them. For travel, everything is in my cross body.
Great video! Thank you for all the comments to help us choose what may work best for us. I may have missed it in the video but for the Athlete Endless did you also go with the regular length to have it be a little longer?
I bought three pair of pants in preparation for a trip abroad, which was cancelled. I purchased all of them from Nordstrom. The first two were synthetic-one lined, 1 unlined. They are not uncomfortable and I can wear them nearly year around. But neither really impressed me as great for wearing over many hours. The pair that really showed up best long-term was a pair of black linen trousers from NYMJ (that looks weird-did I spell it right?). They are cut sort of like jeans but the legs are comfortably looser. If you wear them for travel you will have to bring a small travel iron or steamer. They are comfortable in all seasons. No longer listed where I got them, several different styles are available on the manufacturer’s website. IMHO-I would NOT carry a cellphone in a pants pocket. Better in purse, not on your body.
I really like Eddie Bauer brand. I have the ankle version of the departure pants. I also really like the Guide Pro pants for outdoors traveling. They were perfect in Iceland and Norway. Eddie Bauer has 50% off about 3 times per year, and good clearances. That’s the time to buy (if you don’t have Costco). Kohls also carries some Eddie Bauer and you can use Kohls cash. Nice review video.
About five months into the grow out process, I did go in and have some of the color stripped and then she put in a toner. I did that again about six months later, and after that I just let it grow out. The last time I colored it dark was July 2022... I've saved sooooo much money 😂
Thank you for this video!!! I was shocked to not find any Anatomie or ExOfficio travel pants! I guess in a way I'm not because they are super expensive. I always wonder how those two brands hold up to others since I have always heard rave reviews on them.
I’m with your mom, I love the CRZ golf pants. Perfect length for us short gals and lots of colors. I just order two more pair. Thanks for all your suggestions!
Love the Athleta Pants! They do have sales and 20% off quite often, so it's worth waiting for a discount. All of my Athlete pants have help up really well, some I've had for over 5 years. Great video, I will look into the Eddie Bauer ones. I bought some jeans from their outlet store this weekend at a great discount and they fit really well.
I love the Athleta Endless Pants to pack for Europe. So easy to dress up or down, & very comfy. I have them in three colors. But for what to wear on travel days, my favorite is Lou & Grey Luvstretch Joggers from Loft.
Most of these kind of fabrics don’t work for pair shaped people with bigger thighs and cellulite (like me). Too stretchy and/or thin or noisy fabric. Bummer! But they all seem very nice and I appreciate your thoroughness.
Really interesting- I will seek out the Eddie B pant. Hard to find some of these in Canada one thing I tend to watch for is the cotton- polestar (and all the polyester derivatives) and Lycra combinations. For long flights I pefer more cotton but with stretch and this combination is very difficult to find. Would like to know more about that…. I really only wear yoga pants around home
Christi, Although I'm a baby boomer, please dont hold that against me - I have the spirit of a GenXer! and I really need help on some comfortable walking shoes. I need something that won't cramp my toes, comfortable to tour/walk a city and easily packable. Would love to see a video on traveling shoes! Love your videos.
I have a pair of $80 pull on dress pants. Light weight, stretchy, silky feel, never wrinkles, pills or snags, roomy in the waist and hips, could accommodate a base layer underneath if needed. They aren't yoga pants, they're dress pants that look good, yet I could sleep in them comfortably. The only negative is there's no pockets at all. 😢 I bought them at a Canadian store called Laura.
Love your video. Great job on the detail given on each pant. I love your wrap shirt you are wearing in the video. What size are you wearing? I’m considering ordering the large. I am usually a medium but sometimes a large if it’s a snug fit. Great job!
Great video. I always look forward to your videos. I too bought the sketcher go walk pants and while I like them for around the house they aren’t great for travel especially since they are long and can drag on the bathroom floor. I’m gonna check out your recommendations. Thank you..

I'm just dipping my toe into merino wool. I'll have to look into merino wool travel pants that aren't leggings. I had a pair of Kuhl pants years ago that I loved! 😊
No, I've done a couple of "how I do my 5 minute travel make up" videos, but I'm not too much of a make up girlie! Mostly I use tinted sunscreen as my foundation, waterproof mascara, lip liner and whatever lipstick I'm liking at the moment 😂
Quince has an almost exact dupe for the Athleta Brookly pant that I was close to ordering, but because the Eddie Bauer was so similar I didn't order them. I do love me some Quince.. the addiction is real, LOL! 😂
You need short not petite. For example. 10short is the same proportions as a regular 10 but shorter. 10 petite changes not only length but proportion. I do great in short sizes but petites are off. Good luck finding Short in a variety of sizes. It’s not easy! I’m about an inch and a half shorter than you due to age related shrinkage. I started at 5’3” more leg than torso. My proportions never changed but I lost height.
I’ve been hiking, traveling, and hollering about Duluth for years and years. You have to try the Dry on the Fly line too. I have them in pants and shorts.
I have a very short waist, and it is so hard for me to find pants that fit correctly. I have those Eddie Bauer travel pants. They are my go-to pants because of the fit and breathability. I agree they are not suited for winter travel.
I've been struggling lately to find a lightweight pant that is available in long length (I'm one of your tall ladies). Recently moved from Ohio to Florida and it's fake fall here (shorts in the morning are way too cold, but by noon you are sweating). Jeans are just too heavy. I think the Eddie Bauer Departure pants may solve my issues 🤞
The Eddie Bauer is a perfect weight for Florida Fall 😊. If you don't find a size there that works, if you can get the Athleta Brooklyn on sale, they do have a huge size range!

IMHO-I would NOT carry a cellphone in a pants pocket. Better in purse, not on your body.
This video was amazing, learned a lot.
Fantastic video, really appreciate your effort!
Great tips, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this video, very enlightening!
Very well done, appreciate this video!
Thanks for sharing this, learned a lot.
Love all your comparison videos! Always save me so much time!! Going to try some of tgese for sure!
This was super helpful, thanks!
Amazing content as always!
OMG Your hair looks fantastic! I saw a year old video prior to this.
Did you grow it out or did you have color done in the salon for the transition?
About five months into the grow out process, I did go in and have some of the color stripped and then she put in a toner. I did that again about six months later, and after that I just let it grow out. The last time I colored it dark was July 2022... I've saved sooooo much money 😂
Incredibly helpful and timely! I am looking for a couple of travel pants right now and really appreciate your suggestions! 🫶🏼
You're very welcome, glad it was helpful 😊❤️
This was very informative, appreciate it.
Great job, this video was very useful!
Fantastic explanation, thank you!
Also good are the Lands End Starfish pants.
Thank you for this video!!! I was shocked to not find any Anatomie or ExOfficio travel pants! I guess in a way I'm not because they are super expensive. I always wonder how those two brands hold up to others since I have always heard rave reviews on them.
Thanks for sharing ☺️. Athleta is on sale right now 😁.
I’m with your mom, I love the CRZ golf pants. Perfect length for us short gals and lots of colors. I just order two more pair. Thanks for all your suggestions!
Thanks for the video! Duluth pants are on sale now for $29.75 (12/18/24)
Thank you! This was so well done.
Thank you for the great content!
Well it works! You look great!
Aww, thank you!! 😊
Ohh, I've never heard of those joggers! Putting them on my list to check out, thank you for sharing 😊
Most of these kind of fabrics don’t work for pair shaped people with bigger thighs and cellulite (like me). Too stretchy and/or thin or noisy fabric. Bummer! But they all seem very nice and I appreciate your thoroughness.
Actually I found the Duluth fabric very forgiving and same with the Athleta Endless pant. Might be worth trying out! 😊
Just took 4 pair Duluth NoGA to Europe this fall…perfect for air travel. I agree they are too heavy for warm weather.
She has one with some good wide shoe options.
@@ohkay2090 Thank you - I will search for that. Appreciate your response.
I always pull the string out. I never use them.
I have several pair of the CRZ Yoga pants, they are an almost perfect dupe for the Lululemon On the Fly pant that I love.
I bought them at a Canadian store called Laura.
Love your video. Great job on the detail given on each pant. I love your wrap shirt you are wearing in the video. What size are you wearing? I’m considering ordering the large. I am usually a medium but sometimes a large if it’s a snug fit. Great job!
Thank you!! I am wearing a medium, but it is a snug(ish) fit 😊
Great video. I always look forward to your videos. I too bought the sketcher go walk pants and while I like them for around the house they aren’t great for travel especially since they are long and can drag on the bathroom floor. I’m gonna check out your recommendations. Thank you..
bravo and thanks!! I am going to Montreal in November and Italy in early April. This is a very good video for a 5'10" girl. Thanks for including me.
You're welcome!! And I hope some of these options work well for you... Both trips sound fabulous!! 😊
my pick: Women's Sightscape Horizon Convertible Roll-Up Pants - Pockets, can roll up for warmer weather, & for me, most importantly, come in Tall.
I'm so happy to see you are OK after the hurricanes.😅
Thank you!! Our area of North Carolina has actually been spared any storms so far this year, but I'm so sad for the western part of the state. Hoping to go help out up there in a couple of week.
@GenxGypsy1968 I sent my prayers and MOST Of All, I sent money for them. We need to stick together and help one another any way we can. Prayers a great, but not enough. You are so great that you can go and give yourself. I wish I could. So grateful for you and your GenX Gypsies. I am a Bumbling Baby Boomer. 1963, so I on the cusp. 😄😁
Great information video! Thanks for this.
Excellent video really loved all the emojis 😊 all your videos are very precise. You have suck a kind demeanor love it. You must have done a lot of research into this and all your videos. ❤️💕❤️
Thank you for your sweet comment 💖. I do try to make sure everyone is going to get some sort of value from the videos 😊
I love Kuhl. Just got another pair. I’m also looking into merino wool?
I'm just dipping my toe into merino wool. I'll have to look into merino wool travel pants that aren't leggings. I had a pair of Kuhl pants years ago that I loved! 😊
Love this!! Also… have you done any travel make up reviews ?
No, I've done a couple of "how I do my 5 minute travel make up" videos, but I'm not too much of a make up girlie! Mostly I use tinted sunscreen as my foundation, waterproof mascara, lip liner and whatever lipstick I'm liking at the moment 😂
Quince. Check the Quince ones
Quince has an almost exact dupe for the Athleta Brookly pant that I was close to ordering, but because the Eddie Bauer was so similar I didn't order them. I do love me some Quince.. the addiction is real, LOL! 😂
Thank you for the video and thorough details. Side note: your hair looks amazing 😍
Aww, thank you 😊
Great video!
Athleta Endless and the other style are $79 and $69 respectively.
I tuck my strings in too, or I have been known to cut them off.
Do the Duluth NoGA pants dry quickly if you have to wash them by hand do you know? Looking at. trip to Scotland in May.
Because the Duluth pants are mostly cotton, I think they would take longer to air dry than some of the other pants, unfortunately :(.
I went to Ireland and Scotland in June 2023 and in Scotland (mainly Edinburgh) I froze the whole time. Be prepared
I agree that I have a lot more luck when short is an option over petite. 😊
I’ve been hiking, traveling, and hollering about Duluth for years and years. You have to try the Dry on the Fly line too. I have them in pants and shorts.
Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely check them out, probably a great choice for my Puerto Rico trip in the spring 😊
I’m short waisted, too.
I have a very short waist, and it is so hard for me to find pants that fit correctly.
I have those Eddie Bauer travel pants. They are my go-to pants because of the fit and breathability. I agree they are not suited for winter travel.
thankj you
I've been struggling lately to find a lightweight pant that is available in long length (I'm one of your tall ladies).
