The actress who plays Sadie is a really lovely and kind person in real life. She was friends with my ex boyfriend. Just adding this in the comments because I know some people tend to dislike certain actors/actresses due to their character’s personality. I feel like most people can separate the actress from the character, but I know there’s a portion of people who can’t.

LISTEN I was an AVID watcher of this show and Sadie and the portrayal of her, the criticism of her body etc threw my 12 year old chubby self into an intense and long battle with anorexia. Not just this show I’m sure but this was a huge part of it.

The level my love for this show was at WHEN IT WAS AIRING is matched only by my love for Jersey Shore. This should be essential viewing, this was euphoria before euphoria, a cultural reset. The stickers on Jenna's laptop, her writing a blog anonymously, her getting all this male attention, Sadie (queencard swipe), Lissa and Sadie being bible thumpers. This show was the tea, the golden age of MTV shows.

My mom actually showed me this series before it came out bc I was in 8th grade and she thought it would be relatable. We watched the first episode together and it was mortifying bc I didn't understand most of what was going on and my mother kept insinuating that this was how teens are and this was how me & my peers acted
my "best friend" in high school (I used quotes because in hindsight she was a bully) introduced this show to me when it first came out and I loved it. It was so underrated but the writing was really good. Every so often I rewatch the show and it gives me a sense of nostalgia. I do skip over some episodes in season 3 because the Colin phase is enraging and Jenna is the worst in those episodes
I better get every season dissection of awkward. I’d love to hear your take on them splitting season 3 into A/B

Wheenver you finish this series, i'd love to hear you talk about Faking it. The show came out around the same time as this show, so the 'comedic choices' are similar but i honestly think that the it was such a solid show and was really ahead of time when it comes to representation of the LGBTQIA+ community despite some of its more brash humor. I loved this show when i was entering my teen years so im glad you are covering it. I'm actually a newer subscriber, I found you through your ANTM video, but I love how you talk and express your thoughts and opinions

faking it was the first time I had ever heard or learned what being intersex was. the way it was used in she show also felt really tasteful and worked to humanize her (I forgot her name) and I've yet to come across another plot point that features intersexuality since

I felt like it was such a unique plot to have this mean girl who is openly a bully but secretly was intersex and yet I've never seen a show with representation like that again. Mind you, rewatching that show is like opening a 2000's-2010s tome capsule between the humor and fashion. This show came out when I was like 15 or 16 and I remember loving it like it was one of my fave shows. Seeing it all recapped like this is so crazy LOL what a mess this was. It's sti so vastly entertaining and I can see why I loved it back then, but damn this shit was nuts. Surprisingly, writing wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It tied everything up pretty well for the most part with a good set up for a season 2 (that I never watched if it even came out lol)

My grandparents that I lived with HATED mtv and definitely didn’t want me watching the channel. I remember new episodes of teen wolf were ALWAYS airing at my bed time so I would have to record it or take that chance of my grandparents catching me and actually watch it live.
