  • I think I have Ride Command and Apple Carplay working without glitches, error codes and weird screens. The video provides some fixes if you're having similar electronics issues with your late model Indian.

I had the same problem as Norm on my 2020 Indian Challenger. I followed his advice and went with the Apple CarPlay dongle. I tried two different brands in the course of 3 weeks. I got them to almost work perfect using Norm's advice. Not getting it perfect, I tried something else. I unpaired all the bluetooth devices from iPhone and Challenger. I replugged my USB-A male to female inside cubby hole and stuffed it full of bubble wrap, so the cords were in there tight and could not move around when riding. I paired my Packtalk Edge to my iPhone 15 Pro Max on channel 1. I did not use motorcycle pairing on Edge (rolling jog wheel rearward), for my motorcycle , instead I paired the edge to motorcycle using "Second Phone Pairing" by rolling jog wheel forward. Then plugging my USB-C cord into my iPhone that goes to the USB-A adapter on the bike. So pair the Edge to iPhone; Edge to Challenger and plug in USB-C cord to iPhone which I have on my handlebars. The only hiccup I have is when listening to music and I talk to Siri, there is a 15 second delay before music will play again. You can get the music back faster by going to the iPhone's home screen and then dragging from top to bottom on the right hand side of phone. This will open the Control Center of the iPhone. Click on the music player in right hand corner and it will show the symbol for CarPlay is in control. Touch the symbol and change the speaker priority it to your Packtalk Edge and your music will immediately start to play again. IF you can do it my way, great. You save some money not having to buy the CarPlay dongle. If you cannot get it to work, then you have to do what you can to get it to work. Packtalk Edge was a little finicky, but I think lots of that has to do with so many different settings within the iPhone can make it conflict. In fact, I was trying to get everything to work right and couldn't. This was after installing an iPhone software update. I read somewhere after installation you might have to delete all bluetooth device from phone and bike and reinstall. I did that, then it started working properly again. One nice thing (minor) with cord vs wireless dongle, is that with wired, when you skip to next song, it is almost immediately. While wireless CarPlay Dongle there is a 2-3 second delay.

      Glad your're having success.
Now I discovered I only need my Sena headset paired to my bike and everything else works through Carplay. Immediate connection and music through my speakers. I'm still loving the wireless dongle.

Thanks for the video i have 2022 darkhorse challenger and have had issues with carolay disconnecting periodically, I dont wear a full face helmet so I have to use a dongle to by pass the hands free. So what you are saying is only have the cena or dongle connected to bike then turn on phone without connecting to bike. And this will prevent disconnection by carplay.
How do you keep phone from running low on battery ? If not plugged in? Could i not just have dongle active, plug in phone and only have it connected bleutooth to dongle for it to work?
    Thanks again

I use this unit a.co/d/iI1mrJV for wireless carplay. I connect my phone to the Sena Bluetooth only and turn it on first. My phone is not connected to the bike, only to AutoSky via the wifi signal. No cable makes a difference and doesn't connect. I'd use an external phone charger battery if I go on a long trip. Hope this helps.

You can also use the cigarette lighter plug in your saddle bag to charge your phone.

My issue is, CarPlay works fine for me up until I try to use navigation. The music will play for a bit, then the music will just stop.

I use google maps with my and play music from my phone and it's rock solid. Are you using a wireless adapter? Sometimes it's the cable connection .

@@NormKohn I’m using a Sena 50s and I’m using a apple fire wire for the plug. Music never cuts out when I’m not using CarPlay. Maybe I need to revert to the November update.

@@DJGENOTYPE Sorry to hear, I used to have difficulty with that too. Now I don't have my phone paired to the bike and only use AutoSky wireless adapter and carplay and music are solid.
