  • Judge Clifton Newman originally rejected the prosecutor’s bid to show the jury Alex Murdaugh’s apparent confession to a Sept. 2021 roadside shooting murder-suicide plot after objections from the disgraced lawyer’s defense on Tuesday. The judge reversed his ruling after Murdaugh’s lawyer opened the door for the confession to be entered into evidence while cross-examining an investigator.

This is the comment i came for....the figures put forward works out to a habit of more than $14,000 per day....if he took 100 pills per day (arguably lethal and definitely inhibiting one's ability to function), that would still be $140 per pill - ridiculous! The defense needs to debunk this; it will show further dishonesty and eliminate his ability to use impairment as a means of reducing culpability.

Even if his tolerance required 10 oxycontin 80mg or morphine 100mg tablets a day and even if he was paying $200 each for the pills, it would still only total $14,000 a week and not to mention he would go into respiratory failure and die without question because tha is not a tolerance that a human could build up to without certain death. Furthermore, if you've got that kind of money, you would buy pills by the whole script, as in he whole bottle, for which you would get them for a much better price. Even the best opiates are still averaging around $1.00 per milligram on the streets, in low level purchases of 1 to 20 pills at a time. No way he would be paying that rate in bulk. Period. And if he was using synthetic man/underground lab made opiates, they'd be a lot cheaper than that!
