This is the Grimsby town deep sea trawler which the 1970 version was called kandahar.the two arch shaped items are where the trawle gear was hung from .this held the otterboards and net. As a young lad a worked on Grimsby docks where hundreds of the trawlers were moored .the Ross fleet were all named after big cats. Nothing is left of it now .I had the model as a kid and somewhere in our house it still lurks lol .good memories .
Looks great. Can’t help but imagining the many stories behind the presented scene. How the characters got there, where they’re headed, what happened to the ship and its crew, etc
Great build. I think adding those backpackers really makes it a visually interesting piece. Too bad you had all those issues with the matt clear, but glad it was resolved despite the remaining mystery.
I've never used either Vallejo or any of the Mr. Products varnishes, but I have seen a lot of videos. One dude had trouble with Mr. Super Clear coming out glossy. It was because his can was too cold. Warming the paint returned it to proper flatness.
I like the way that turned out 👍👍 If you mix a bit of clay kitty litter into your grout it helps with the texture a lot. Back when I did a lot of dios I used a mix of 1 part litter and 3 parts Celluclay
G'day again from the West, job well done Mate, reminds me of one I did many a year ago, I scratched built a Nile River Gun Boat which had caught on some rocks and abandoned, cheers looking forward to your next endeavour!
I was just speculating. I don't know why things behave the way they do 😂 I'll do things the same way twice and get 2 different results because one time I did it during the winter and the next during summer humidity. Keep up the good work. You inspire me to get out and try new things with my leather work.
I think you should have used AK INTERACTIVE corrosion texture that would have given it a more realistic corroded look on the rusty spots of the trawler itself.🙂
If two cans have the same effect even after using other varnishes, then ask Vallejo as it may be a reaction either to ubdercured paint. I rather use the Vallejo polyurethane matt varnish applied with the airbrush or the Mig lucky flat varnish.
@@ScaleModelGeek I think you did great for your first time doing a ship. You should try another diorama that involves another post apocalyptic shipwreck in the future. 😁😄👍
"I´m the Scale Model Geek!" 🤔 No, our are the ✋🤚 hands of the Scale Model Geek 😂 Sorry, but I coudn´t avoid this lazy joke 🤣 Great job again. Looking so realistic that I just waited the teeny weeny figures to move (!) along the ship´s side. Looking forward to enjoy your next video.
I bet you didn't know; But, the actual ship that this model is based on [ The Ross Tiger ] is currently part of The Fishing Heritage Centre (Museum), Grimsby, England 😂
@@ScaleModelGeek sent you Gmail images scalemodelgeek of my Diorama and some images of an idea suggestion in case you were interested from the history channel fictional documentary film after people showing a post apocalyptic shipwreck of USS Missouri left abandoned forgotten rusting and half sunk in pearl harbor.
@@ScaleModelGeek question scalemodelgeek was the revell trawler kit that bad? Cause when I got it I thought it was perfect for my kind of work. @@ScaleModelGeek next Idea for a post apocalyptic idea for you should be a battleship involving a 1/720 scale USS Missouri badly rusted and half sunk with plant growth on it's decks with figurines exploring her. What do you say.
Th hole on the bow of the ship was it because it hit a rock in the past or something else that gave it a hole an oncoming headon collision? Just my guess.
Was wondering anyone know of a boat or ship in 1/72nd scale that is abit larger then this ship for a diarama that im making need some ideas that do t cost all that much?? And was wondering are these types of paints water proof?

Kind of reminds me of the scene from the awesome Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind...Turned out great though.
I actually forgot about that scene. Great movie and thanks for watching.

That's the great thing about building a diorama. Everyone is allowed to have their own stories.
Really awesome!!! Love the open story feel of this diorama 😊
Thanks
Well done! Even despite the issues with the matte varnish - hope you get an answer from Vallejo.
The paint issue did my head in. Thanks for watching
I really love your concept. Great work on all of it!
Thanks
Great build. I think adding those backpackers really makes it a visually interesting piece. Too bad you had all those issues with the matt clear, but glad it was resolved despite the remaining mystery.

I will need to try that. Thanks for watching
Another great build! Those rattle can primers are a mystery.
Yeah, no one seems to be able to come up with a solution.
Really well done. My daughter and I love watching your videos, thanks for making them!
Awesome... family viewing. Thanks for watching. Both of you. 😁
Looks Great 👏

I do use kitty litter in some builds but I think the 'pebbles' would have been a bit big for this diorama. Thanks for watching

Really like that diorama. Strange that the paint did what it did, and I cannot offer up any idea why it did what it did.
Everyone in the modeling club that I'm in also said it was a mystery. Thanks for watching
I think the hairspray caused the varnish to gloss. I've run into the same thing with liquids containing alcohol and dyeing leather.
I've done the very same steps before and never had an issue. Thanks for watching

IT IS TRUE IN THE REAL WORLD. THE ARAL SEA WAS A INNER SEA IN THE FORMER USSR. BUT NOWADAYS, IT IS DRY OUT TO BECOME A DESERT
That was one of the inspirations for the diorama. Thanks for watching.
That was immediately my thought, too. Those photos are beautifully haunting.
I think you should have used AK INTERACTIVE corrosion texture that would have given it a more realistic corroded look on the rusty spots of the trawler itself.🙂
Nice work, well done!

Cool!🤗

Looks like craggy Island and Father Ted.....🤭
Nice!

The Savanah nuclear ship would have been good for this diorama.
I just bought what was available at the time as well the most appropriate scale. Thanks for watching

Wonder if the hair spray affected the gloss varnish.
I've used exactly the same painting techniques on previous dioramas with great success. That did my head in
Beautiful work! Were your figures printed with a resin printer? Very nice detail for so small a scale!
Yes
Really cool. 👍
Thanks
Try HD matt varnish from VMS. The best and the most effective matt coat ever!
Thanks for the tip. I'll see if it's available in my local hobby store
Cool looking Ship. I thought the Little people were divers and that's why you painted them black.😂
