Yes, you can pay by cash. However, the bus driver doesn't give change, hence exact change is recommended. From Airport, it should be around RM2.70 to RM3

@@sourityadas6041 cash only, exact change. The driver will not give you change. You can buy a top up card for penang buses from the Komtar bus terminal once you arrive, if you are using a lot of buses to get around Penang
Whats the best way to get to the other side of the bridge.? Bukit Pertajam?
You can use the ferry to cross to Butterworth. Then from there, there should be bus services. You can use google map to search the timetable
