  • The golf swing just got so much easier for you in this really simple golf tip. This golf tip and FEEL completely changed my golf swing for the better. At a time when my golf swing was really struggling, I took a golf lesson that turned it all around. I went from hitting annoying, weak fades, to hitting powerful push draws just like the pros. It FEELS SO WEIRD to do this in your golf swing at first, but the contact FEELS SO GOOD. Trust me, it's a game changer.

    I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

      Sorry, @JoneSwings - I thought I replied but apparently it didn't stick so I'll try again....
      1. There's some helpful dialog on club fitting in a couple of different threads in the online school's Members' Forum. Just type the word "fit" into the Forum's search bar. (If you've not already joined the Forum - which is included in your membership - it only takes a minute or two to enroll. Just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I monitor the forum regularly and am a frequent participant in the discussions, including assisting with swing-related inquiries. I really think you’ll enjoy it!)
      2. The net is a DIY job. It is approximately 7’ tall and 8’ wide, with the main structure being 1-1/2" PVC. We used this video as a starting point - ua-cam.com/video/-p11qs4E2T0/v-deo.html - and then made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. We did not use PVC cement as this allows us to easily disassemble it if necessary. The net we used differs from the screening material in the video. Ours was purchased through Amazon - “NETTEXX Golf Cage Impact Net 10ft X 10ft” - as were these bungees for attaching the net to the frame - “Kotap BB-6B Ball Bungee Cords with Elastic String for Canopy, Tarp, Straps, Tent, Poles and Wires, 6-Inch (25-Count), Black”. (If using a net like we did you probably won’t need the screw hooks that are mentioned in the video - the bungees should suffice.)
      Also, I have a Real Feel 3x5 Country Club Elite® Golf Mat. You can visit them here - www.RealFeelGolfMats.com. Just signed up for your 1 year membership. Hell, I owe you more than that for the extreme value you’ve afforded me with your You Tube vids alone. My 20 year golf journey is really getting good, finally with your guidance. I trust no one but Tom as he’s the only instructor that has given me solid repeatable mechanics in a very simple to learn approach. All the wasted time and money I’ve spent with other instructors and You Tube instructors who really have no business teaching is a major face palm moment for me right now. I fully endorse this guy. His free vids have taken me to low 80’s from not being able to break 90 until 5 months ago. I firmly believe I will break 80 very soon once I start his program, I am very excited and relieved to finally have an instructor I can trust. Choosing a golf instructor is one of life’s greatest stressors, way more so than choosing a doctor, for me anyway, lol.

      @TigerMarine62 2 роки тому +4

      Just as you say, I was consistently in the 100's, dropped to the 90's after watching Tom and now in the high 80's. I just need to work on my short game. If I could chip and pitch I'd be golden, my putting is great.

    • @WyattScott
      @WyattScott 2 роки тому +5

      @@TigerMarine62 chipping was lost on me for 20 years until 5 months ago. Weight on forward foot, just take it back like you are putting and have a good tempo and always follow thru. My chipping is the best part of my game right now. I've at least got that piece of the puzzle solved, lol.

I had a year off golf during the pandemic and lost a club length also was having trouble finding the center of the fairway when I recently started back up a few months ago.The past two months the only thing I could improve was my putting. Ive enjoyed a lot of your videos but will stick with single plane, but still find benefit in watching you. I took this tip to the course yesterday. My buddies were amazed! In the first 6 holes I was one over with 3 lip outs. Shot a 77. (Im 72) Thanks!

    I really enjoy your video lessons since you entertain us as well as instructing us. Most YT golf videos are probably as entertaining as watching grass grow. Most instructors' 8 minute videos are 7 minutes of empty talk and, maybe, 1 minute of actual instruction and, by the time that starts, I'm half asleep and unable to discern what the point is. You, on the other hand, make it impossible to get sleepy as you get to the point quickly and entertainingly. Plus, what you show us WORKS! Right now, my driving is straight and long but I can't seem to hit an iron to save my soul: either chunks 6 inches behind the ball or thin hits that would leave a big smile on the ball if the balls still had balata covers as they had many moons ago. I plan to implement this technique the next time I can get out. You give me hope when all seems lost and for that, I thank you!

    I just started the online program 1 week ago, been teaching myself stack and tilt for a month now with Tom’s video, today I shot 83 (39 on the back, where I normally struggle) I haven’t played for 3 weeks, prior 2 games were 92-94. I find more fairways, more green in regulation, pick-up 15-20 yards on my irons, 60 on my drive. Golf is good , life is good.

    I went to the range and tried out the Saguto for the first time after watching 4 videos. The results are immediate! I hit about 200 balls today, it took me 10 swings to get it and then proceeded to start hitting consistent bombs and short feel shots, when I did hit a bad one (maybe 10-11 out of 190) I just walked around, addressed the ball and had 3 thoughts, Hogan arms, tilt to the left and follow through. I LOVE this Saguto swing!!!

    Tom without knowing this is roughly how I swung the clubs for years but thought I needed to be back down the line and up, drop into a slot etc as per most teaching wisdom. Ended up playing golf swing , and struggle with heavy hits, weak crappy shots etc as do many friends. Your teaching this makes me feel good that hitting the ball solid when playing doesn't require to be a contortionist and massive amounts of pre shot swing thoughts. I find wisdom with the video on how to take divots past the ball actually lets the club be delivered as efficient and stress free as it can be done for golfers. Thanks

      So you knew all along that you didn't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast to execute a good golf swing, Larry, yet for all those years you tried to pretend that you were Nadia Comaneci???
      Yes - sadly many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings of "conventional" instruction - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into- and torquing against- a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, but unfortunately such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream, because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant.......😂
      By the way, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards achieving consistently crispy, compressed ball striking bliss, please consider the SagutoGolf online school. I went through most of the bag but wasn't until the last dozen or so where I hit every shot string straight. Awesome, David - I'm very glad to know that this performed well for you, and I'm thrilled to know that you are enrolling in the online school!!
      By the way, here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start:
      1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this.
      2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing!
      2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down.
      3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf
      4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it!
      I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level!
      Thanks!

    I've always struggled with topping the ball and being hugely inconsistent. This is an AMAZING help!! It feels like I'm really connecting, and the ball just rockets off the face. It creates more of a sweeping motion (hands start lower and end lower) and I've been thrilled with the results. Can't wait to get out and play rather than just hit some practice balls in my back yard. I'm sending practice wiffle balls over the roof of my 2 story house with this!

    I have been lifting and shifting since I was 12 and I am 52. Slice so bad I stopped using driver last few years since I can hit my irons OK. My divot was so outside to in and I could slice a ball then pull it way left on the next shot. I follow everything on youtube swing related. I stumbled on this 2-3 weeks ago. I was shooting mid 90s and would get in the high 80s about once per season. I am just starting stack and tilt and first round 95 but about a half dozen super compressed irons dead straight. 2nd round last week and 83 no pulls, no mis-hits or flubs. Today 43 on front and 37 on back for an 80. Using the driver today with consistency and irons straight as could be. I am still not all the way comfortable with this swing yet. When I am a few months in I can't wait to see how well I am scoring. I use to prefer hitting out of first cut as opposed to fairway because my steep out to in swing was hard to pick a tight lie with a wedge. Today I hit a KFC style wedge from 70 yards with dead aim 2 hops and straight in the cup. I literally never do that. I love your videos! Thanks!

      I always tell my students and online school members, "let your ball striking be your guide!"
      I'm happy to have confirmed what you already knew. For further affirmation, here's a quote from PGA Tour player Dean Wilson in the Stack and Tilt book: _"...It actually felt like I was swinging my left arm around my beltine! They (Mike Bennett & Andy Plummer) would take a picture of this position, then show it to me, and I couldn't believe it: it was in perfect position. My feel was way off, but their geometry wasn't. It felt foreign at first, but my ball striking told me I was on the right track."_

    Hey Tom, did this exact thing and implemented it today. I was pureeing my irons and hitting greens. This works as advertised! Driver.........well, lets not get into that right now.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 роки тому +2

      Nice work, Anthony!! The driver takes a little while to catch up, but it will happen. It’s really the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. (In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: ua-cam.com/video/7fmtzyH3rsA/v-deo.html. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: ua-cam.com/video/SLjwU_1Cc7o/v-deo.html )
      If you do a search on this channel you'll see some content on the driver and fairway woods. Throw the butt end of the club at the ball it will force your hips to come around hold your wrists dont let them flip and the ball will be crushed, you can basically do your set up pick the club up near your shoulder and throw the butt end at the ball and hit the ball flush. (with practice) But you have to do the Stack N Tilt swing. I just did everything Tom said ran outside tried it and was like wtf this guy is a genius and the way he teaches is like nobody else you learn sometimes and retain it because of the way it was presented funny theatrics and spot on information.

    Lol - just seen this video, Tom. I was definitely swinging too flat, now I’m hitting how you demonstrated at start - with my hands far too high and butt of club pointing at my right toe at top of backswing, so no depth whatsoever. We’ve had very icy week here in London, so Golf Courses closed until weekend where I am, But, I’ve done a few swings indoors without breaking anything 😁 and seems to keep me more centred and I can get much better coil, hence depth. Looking forward to giving it a go over the range next week - cheers Tom 👍

      @SagutoGolf  4 місяці тому

      LOL! I'm very glad to know that this lesson video resonated with you, Ken, and I hope it performs well when you bring it outdoors!
      The swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not "flat" and definitely not a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. The feeling of "straight back" can easily pull the golfer off of that preestablished geometry right from the start, and from there precise compensatory actions are necessary if there is any hope of returning the clubface to the ball on the proper path time after time.
      If interested here is a more recent episode pertaining to this same topic: ua-cam.com/video/AB7NGjHrRvg/v-deo.html
      Indeed, we create depth in this swing, and that enables us to fully engage the shoulders and harness the power of swinging on a circle through a seemingly effortless force known as "angular momentum".
      Thanks for your message and stay warm!!

      I think this is where the word chop came from. Hack resulted from people who hack away at the ball when stuck in one of those sand pits. Do they ever use quick sand in one of those pits. Now that would make the game more interesting, and more funner to watch.

    I have to tell you that just yesterday I was breaking a student out of the, ( what I call ) the 'Little to No Shoulder Turn' golf swing. I told her that steering the club in front of her left leg & lifting it is poison. By turning her shoulders the correct way, I told her she would feel like her hands are behind her but in reality they'd be parallel to the right side of her right leg. When she managed to execute this turn, she immediately saw an incremental improvement with her distance as well as accuracy, and I'll be sure to have her look at this vid the very next time we get together. Thx for helping struggling golfers who just don't want to look inept or idiotic when playing with others, because that's all they're really looking to achieve when it comes down to it.

    Tom, your lessons are so succinct and amazingly easy to follow. For this shot though, from 6:42 to 6:46 when you're "making up for the last one", it looks like your backswing is under the stick but your foreswing goes up and over it when it comes down on the ball; but you still make a sick strike. Is that intentional for a reason I didn't catch in this vid or another? Can you show more in-depth slo-mo versions of these swing paths?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 роки тому

      I'm glad you are enjoying my instruction content, Michael!
      Yes - nice catch! To the keener eyes such as yours this has to be understood as a bit of a "do as I say, not as I do" thing. My miss tends to be too much in-to-out, thus imparting too much draw spin on the ball. This is why I personally execute the drill with a downswing plane slightly above the backswing. If I shallowed it anymore in this drill you would be introduced to "The Janitor" - my big sweeping overdraw. Take away the stick and my two planes tend to match each other. For the vast majority of amateurs, however, they would do well to perform this drill exactly as I described it - swinging under the stick in both directions to combat the independent lifting of the arms in the backswing and the steep chop in the downswing.
      Cheers!

      Sounds good, Shane! You may disregard my previous reply in a separate thread suggesting you do the same.
      Just a little bit of preliminary advice as you get started in the school:
      1) It is crucial to take sufficient time to master the fundamental components of the first couple of chapters! I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when a student jumps ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating himself/herself to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Please have a look at this introductory video if you have not already done so: saguto.golf/courses/1166020/lectures/30347767.
      2) One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the Golf Swing Simplified course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements.
      2a) The recently released "Get Out and Go Play" quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied in #2 you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one.
      4) Finally, please migrate over to the new “Office Hours” forum - which is included in your online school membership - and begin engaging with other golfers in the SagutoGolf community. I monitor the forum regularly and am a frequent participant in the discussions, including assisting with swing-related inquiries. I really think you’ll enjoy it!
      *_I look forward to hearing from you regularly in the Forum_* and to assisting you in building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level!
