Proud to say I've platinumed this game and completed Iron Mode. Took me about 70 hours. 😸 Hardest part for me was the giant worms in the sewer which took at least 20+ tries.
I’ve 100% completed the base game about a dozen times, obviously getting every single achievement as well. Then the 2 expansions came out and my save data became corrupted and kept self-deleting. Despite this annoying glitch, Exodus is a phenomenal game and I highly recommend it as a must-play for the post-apocalypse genre. I’d go so far as to say it’s even better than Fallout 4.

Beating ranger hardcore is a hard challenge, but i think the forest child achievement is 100x harder. The criteria is so strict with 0 indication of if you failed or not until you reach the point where the achievement is awarded. The final village where you have to do a stealth section in the fucking boat is terrible, you cant knock out the lever guard or the guards that overlook the exit so its a literal gamble if they decide youre spotted in the boat and you have to reset if you so much as hear a music queuue or yell.
I did Ranger Hardcore, mininum, on my first run, after many deaths, trial and error, having to come up with new strategies, learn from my mistakes, adapting, learning new mechanics and features, sneaking, whilst doing good deeds and killing as little humans as possible, I did it! My Perseverance payed off! Also the funny part is that Harcdcore IS the intended way to play the game, that's the TRUE Metro experience, so you're fully immersed, and imo I love having to check every bit to see my supplies and ammo hud
The music choice from the ape section, to the end of the game, was absolutely comical. I was genuinely "lmaoing" throughout the whole thing. Nice work!
i always catch myself saying "damn this guy has no gamesense or aim", then i remind myself he's playing on console for most of these achievements, and that i do not have the patience and mental fortitude to try over and over like he does. Which is a sign of a true gamer (insanity). It's so comedic to watch you fail at the silly stuff, or say something just at the perfect time, and yet go back and try again still with a smile on your face. It's crazy, love every second of your videos
PC vs console is honestly a preference. I prefer console to be honest. Being bad at aiming is just something people struggle with, 100% a skill issue. Comfortability and practice is what it boils down to. If me and you had a 1v1 with you on controller and me on keyboard, we would both be out of our comfort zone and perform badly.
Fun fact: they are two human torches in marvel, the first ww2 was an android named Jim Hammond and second is obviously Johnny storm of the fantastic four. The reason why Johnny chose his hero name was out of respect for the original one.
I am one of the very few to actually get, all I'm going to say is that it was absolutely fun, I love metro games so I had a blast with playing on ranger hardcore
Beside the fact that you are incredible sympathic and stay happy even after the 100th annoying death: There tons of brilliant things in your videos, for example the donkey kong music when the gorillas come and lots more :D
I love this saga so much that I remember that Metro Exodus was the first game I pre-bought, and I never get tired of playing it over and over again until I have it 100% even with the DLCs. The only thing I hated about this game was the loading times, being a newly released game, minimum 1 minute loading time if you died and at least 3 minutes every time you continue your game (on xbox one) 💀
I did this on all the games on Xbox it took a month of constant trying oddly enough it wasn't the combat that was the hardest part but going through areas with the gas mask because I always ran out of filters
@@shinreed5927 the games are great I almost quit in the second game because of that giant bear fight I had because the radiation would kill me with only 15 seconds of filter left and I couldn't kill the bear in time but they're an amazing trilogy
Tip for future playthroughs, equipping then unequipping the mask for a brief moment will refill the choke meter, you can turn ten seconds into a lot of tine that way
As usual, lovely to see Mr Snam of Wiches suff… I mean… entertain us with trying to unlock extremely hard achievements (also, RIP the dude’s glass legs at the beginning)
I remember playing the slav jank of 2033 and absolutely loved every ounce of it. From the score to the fighting stealth and the Ai actually being competent
Honestly though, I feel like metro has some of the most punishing stealth in a shooter. Even on easy, you can get spotted super fast, and enemies will even ignore your distractions if you have alerted them, but they don’t know your location.
Was literally replaying this game the other day. I forgot how frustrating the “bridge” section could be! (Was also trying the no-kill approach as well)
I didn’t think it was that bad honestly I’m on my second play through on the tug boat section I got lucky and after knocking out a few they all surrendered and the other part you can just walk by 90% of the enemies because the game always makes a stealth way for every encounter it’s just finding it which isn’t that hard considering it only give you the choice between walking straight in or around it
Awesome video man, this game has been in my backlog for so long and seeing this makes me really want to push it to the top of the queue. Keep up the great work!
I always heard good things about this game, and this sounds and looks like a hard yet really fun challenge, always happy to see you doing these things! PS: I heard 'Interplanetary Spark' from Yakuza 0 being used, that is a very rad song, y'all should check it out.
"We NEED to use stealth for this part chat!" Snam: Rarely if ever uses the pitchblack nights When i played this beauty of a game, i HAD to have every thing in the night to prevent this xD Only time i was in the day was after i did a mission, and only to collect new items. Though, the worst part was just how much they'd shoot through things :' They could use a b-stard gun, and shoot me through boulders, metal walls, while my late game weapons could only go through thin surfaces :') For blind monke level, i recommend using decoy cans and just S P R I N T I N G when you see your goal, since the previous monkes seem to reset when you go through certain areas :D
For anybody wanting to do full dive. When you’d expect a QTE to happen just set your interactions to HOLD, and hold down melee and your interaction keys. Full dive can be frustrating, at times especially when you arnt sure how to interact with things. However even in spite of it, Metro full dive is one of the most immersive games of all time. Well worth it in the end.
Im not what one might call a gamer but I do enjoy playing games I remember struggling maybe even more than you in my playthrough on reader, hell I didn't even finish last light because I got stuck *ON READER* mad respect for your commitment to the challenge. Great video, keep it up!
I heard they were making another metro game, and I'm hoping it's a free-roam type of game with taking the Aurora to different places, especially back to the metro in Moscow, and building your community at Lake Baikal where Metro Exodus ended. Then a DLC about Sam in America finding his old man...
Snam, you really could've ramped up the difficulty by playing Ranger Hardcore on Iron Mode to get that achievement as well. Every time you died, you would have to restart the current level from the beginning, no checkpoints. I died in some stupid ways getting this achievement (though to be fair, I didn't attempt it in Ranger Hardcore). My favorite being when the game would ignore that I was pressing buttons during the QTE events.
I've always loved the Metro series and had quite a bit of fun getting all of the achievements in them. Worst thing I did to myself though was when trying to get the Shadow Ranger achievement in Last Light. I neglected to notice that it allows you to kill humans if forced to. By not noticing that I had an awful time trying to survive through some segments without killing anyone. I've heard mixed things about whether you actually can kill during certain segments but regardless of that those segments suck to try getting through.
@Snamwiches Checking the guides on TA a lot of people say killing people in those segments voids the achievement. But apparently some dev stuff mentions it's allowed so no idea what's up with it. I can't remember what difficulty I played on so that may have made things harder than they needed to be.
Great job completing this. Although, you could have made your job much easier, if you didn't go for the camps during the day. Could have easily completed below 100 deaths, if you used night time to your advantage. And the fact that resting in a bed always saves the game. Def could have shaved off at least 10 deaths. Maybe 20. What was funny is you thought they were being inconsistent in seeing you or not. No, they were not. It's just that, according to the game's standard, it wasn't technically daytime yet. The best example is 30:36. As you can see on the watch it's 5:11 AM. In the game, day time starts at 6:00 AM. So it was still night time, and thus, you are invisible if you are not standing in an area lit by a lamp.
I got this achievement when I first played this game I didnt even know it was rare lol. Its really not difficult even without the button prompts, if you've played an fps before you can work out x is interact. The only hard part is before you actually leave the metro everything else isn't much harder than most hard difficulties in games. I've only played this difficulty but the realism is so much fun I can't imagine it being fun on the easier difficulties
Ranger hardcore is by far the best way to experience the metro games, I have replayed the series about 3 times and still don't know what the hud looks like.
I’m one of the few who has gotten every achievement in every Metro game. It’s one of my favorite franchises. When I saw the title for the video, I didn’t expect this to be Ranger Hardcore Mode. Not because it’s difficult, but because it’s my default difficulty after one or two initial play-throughs. No, I thought this was going to be Ranger Hardcore with *Iron* mode on. Meaning whenever you die, you restart the entire region. Along with all of the other shown handicaps. You’re next video should be doing exactly that. That way I can see you struggle even more and get another video of my favorite game series. xD
Finally decided to try this game, sadly I have a weird coltrol where buttons get hold or pressed magically from time to time, i resorted to cheats to not go insane. The PC port isnt the best and many scenarios are bit overscripted. But the rest of the game is fine and keeps me hooked so far :)
I feel your pain my man, I just beat the game on ranger hardcore yesterday, and I also went for the full strength achievement, so I had to have all three guys coming with me, and I also did the forest child achievement in that playthrough, going through the taiga level without attacking any human, not even knocking them out, and don't get seen by anyone. Those three together was so extremely hard. So I totally get your pain. Although I was fortunate and did it on pc over the xbox app, so I had mouse and keyboard.
I laughed at 11:32 when he tries to sneak from behind and there's no entrance so he goes "ok plan B, let's go back inside" not knowing there was a ladder on that corner that leads directly to the thing he needs to touch to open the gate lol
I played it in ranger hardcore but on epic games and not on steam so no achievement for me, still was so fun learning the game new and smashing the button as soon as I got engaged by an enemy, I still got the good end. If I have to guess I probably died more than 300 times in total. I can give you the advice to do it and get the masochist feeling of it. I did a series, where I played the metro saga all on ranger hardcore. The funny thing about it is, that in the first of them I played half of it while not knowing that I can recharge my lamp, so very dark Metro with me shting my pants, when I hear something move, arachnophobia didnt help with the spiders and no light.
THIS is how you do difficulties for story games... not your typical "just raise up some arbitrary numbers" bs. The AI gets smarter, your whole playstyle changes, no HUD, more immersion, and so on.
hey if you want another hard metro archievement. Shadow Ranger from the original version of Last light. beat the game without killing anyone... and for extra challenge do it on ranger hardcore too.
Now this is fun! Ranger Hardcore is da wae. Did Ranger Hardcore in same playthrough as pacifist run (no killing humans, unless its bandits or mandatory combat sections). Full dive I think was added later, so yet to try that. PS: I guess it's just a recurring mechanics, that I remember from previous games and in Exodus it probably wasn't mentioned or explained... But big monkeys (aka the Librarians) do not attack you if you stare at them and eventually would run off if you stare long enough. Only issue is if you look away for a moment - it's back to checkpoint.
@0:46 yuuuup I died multiple times from fall damage like that LMAO I found that to be more dangerous than the enemies when going for this achievement! I 100%ed the achievement list on both Xbox and PC for Exodus along with all other Metro and Redux games for the 360/ XB1/PC haha great series
The metro series is one of my all time favorites. To do Hardcore modes tho I always ran through a few times on normal and once you memorize button mappings and even sound cues when you select an item or equipment it helps
@@Snamwiches for your case I totally understand haha I was more so pointing out the lengths I had to go through to even have a chance at doing a complete run. Also, any chance you'd tackle the 300 challenge tower from Mortal Kombat (9)?

Ngl, idk about most of the games you play. But dammit if you’re not entertaining and hilarious to watch, so I still watch all your vids. Keep it up man!
I just did it and i don't understand what was so hardcore in it? Ranger Hardcore can be speedrun and done in 2 hours, Main quests are not that hard, You just ignore everything and run, i didn't kill any spider in bunker area, just rushed through it, cuz that was most problematic level, and for others i learnt everything i need to do already from last playthrough and just run to the goal, i think i killed like 20 enemies in whole ranger hardcore ( ignoring canibals ). Just go and try it, Keep running and ignore everything, u ll see how joke it is
for me the hardest part of ranger hardcore was the first section, getting to the train, and taking control of it. after that i snipe and sneak, and shoot a lot of armour spiders.

I always found ranger hardcore a fun challenge. Did it in both the previous games when i was a teenager and just felt it was fun
Playing on this difficulty felt immersive because it was the reality of what the radiation did to Artyoms Knees
i love how this game's hardest diff is just realism
Oce again proving that life is the hardest game.
I like how he said he could kill bandits and proceded to try to knock out all the bandits
The Metro series is one of my favorites. You should go for the Iron Mode achievement on Ranger Hardcore difficulty.
0:43 ah yes, classic famous last words.
Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room fill with rats. The rats make crazy
😂 many classic one liners and general remarks while playing as well.
The fact that the bear fight is just as hard in any other difficulty other than story mode 😂
I did this on pc, i then attempted the dlc after taking a month break, forgot the controls and just havent looked back. those qtes are BRUTAL
I did this on all the games on Xbox it took a month of constant trying oddly enough it wasn't the combat that was the hardest part but going through areas with the gas mask because I always ran out of filters
@cyberklashnikov3062 I feel that pain brother, the mines in the dlc made me just end it. I love the game tho
@@shinreed5927 the games are great I almost quit in the second game because of that giant bear fight I had because the radiation would kill me with only 15 seconds of filter left and I couldn't kill the bear in time but they're an amazing trilogy
Tip for future playthroughs, equipping then unequipping the mask for a brief moment will refill the choke meter, you can turn ten seconds into a lot of tine that way
@Furionic696 tyty I'm planning on 100% at some point in the future and will make use of this
As usual, lovely to see Mr Snam of Wiches suff… I mean… entertain us with trying to unlock extremely hard achievements (also, RIP the dude’s glass legs at the beginning)
(Was also trying the no-kill approach as well)
I didn’t think it was that bad honestly I’m on my second play through on the tug boat section I got lucky and after knocking out a few they all surrendered and the other part you can just walk by 90% of the enemies because the game always makes a stealth way for every encounter it’s just finding it which isn’t that hard considering it only give you the choice between walking straight in or around it
I can verify. That this is a classic Snamwiches video. Filled with goofy gooberness. What a top man love this guy.
Those spider creatures scared the crap out of me when I first played the game, plus the way you have to crank up your flashlight
Awesome video man, this game has been in my backlog for so long and seeing this makes me really want to push it to the top of the queue. Keep up the great work!
You won't regret it, it's top tier
I always heard good things about this game, and this sounds and looks like a hard yet really fun challenge, always happy to see you doing these things!
PS: I heard 'Interplanetary Spark' from Yakuza 0 being used, that is a very rad song, y'all should check it out.
The entire Yakuza 0 soundtrack bangs honestly
"We NEED to use stealth for this part chat!"
Snam: Rarely if ever uses the pitchblack nights
When i played this beauty of a game, i HAD to have every thing in the night to prevent this xD
Only time i was in the day was after i did a mission, and only to collect new items. Though, the worst part was just how much they'd shoot through things :'
They could use a b-stard gun, and shoot me through boulders, metal walls, while my late game weapons could only go through thin surfaces :')
For blind monke level, i recommend using decoy cans and just S P R I N T I N G when you see your goal, since the previous monkes seem to reset when you go through certain areas :D
When you learn the map of the Metro games, they games become very easy on any difficulty using stealth. (my favorite series of all time)
I like this game so much i manage to get every achievement on steam even on the DLC
I love the Metro games so much, and now I can watch Snammy hurt himself playing it!
An actual Metro video? In 2023? Christmas must have come early
Its that great energy during loss that makes this channel SO FREAKING GOOD. keep those good vibes compadre
Metro as a series is one of my favourites to date. Really enjoyed watching
Did it twice. Even went in for a naughty little iron mode, all modifiers ranger hard-core playthrough. Please kill me.
I have the platinum, it wasn't to hard honestly, definitely one of the more easy platinum's I've got, and I did the last bit of it in iron mode.
that F had me rolling 😂 "what button was i suppose to press!!"
Snam using hollowknight music at 34:30 🤟🥹
Also hella congratulations man 😄
I absolutely love that Snam is getting more and more attention, especially with the sponsors. You are such an awesome creator. Love your stuff.
Im not what one might call a gamer but I do enjoy playing games
I remember struggling maybe even more than you in my playthrough on reader, hell I didn't even finish last light because I got stuck *ON READER*
mad respect for your commitment to the challenge. Great video, keep it up!
As someone that has 100%'d every single Metro game, I respect the effort and enjoyed this video.
Yeah, always sucks when the guidelines are in a grey area. Congrats on getting it done though!
That way I can see you struggle even more and get another video of my favorite game series. xD
Maybe haha, I hadn’t played the game in years before doing this so it might’ve been too much to chew at the time
Fun fact, this difficulty was my first run of Exodus ever, and I didn't even know about molotovs until the ending fight at the Hydro-Electric Dam
Finally decided to try this game, sadly I have a weird coltrol where buttons get hold or pressed magically from time to time, i resorted to cheats to not go insane. The PC port isnt the best and many scenarios are bit overscripted. But the rest of the game is fine and keeps me hooked so far :)
I love this game so much. Finished it multiple times. For me the only way to play any Metro game is on Ranger difficulty.
Ranger hardcore- survival was the real metro experience in the first two games
Everytime I Re-Up on Weed there’s always a new snam video up. It’s like a birthday every time
I played it in ranger hardcore but on epic games and not on steam so no achievement for me, still was so fun learning the game new and smashing the button as soon as I got engaged by an enemy, I still got the good end.
The spider level gave me so much anxiety I had to have my roommate finish it lol
I love waking up to a new Snam video. Now I can go to work and survive another day.
Bruh. I got this achievement, too and DIDN'T KNOW YOU CAN SKIP THE BEAR BATTLE! Honestly pretty satisfying though....
The metro series is one of my all time favorites. To do Hardcore modes tho I always ran through a few times on normal and once you memorize button mappings and even sound cues when you select an item or equipment it helps
Absolutely, I just didn’t have time so I went in to hardcore semi blind and this was the result haha
@@Snamwiches for your case I totally understand haha I was more so pointing out the lengths I had to go through to even have a chance at doing a complete run. Also, any chance you'd tackle the 300 challenge tower from Mortal Kombat (9)?
Thanks for the effort. I really enjoy these videos and loved seeing you struggle and succeed through this great game. Looking forward to your next „project“ :D
This one was really hard. Not as bad as permanent death mode even on the easiest difficulty
I am still stunned to this day that Snam only has 200k subs at the moment he needs to hit a million now XD
Love this game. 10 achievements left. Ranger Hardcore + Iron Mode is gonna be an experience.
IT'S FINALLY HERE. LOVE YOU, SNAM!
