"Burn em out" was the one that tested my patience & endurance on Veteran. Very long map and every grenade known to man is on that map with zero good cover.
The thing is, Burn em out is a actually a very small map. It's actually the shortest mission in the whole game in terms of ground covered and time spent fighting, assuming you don't die. But its level design coupled with Veteran difficulty is such a bullshit combination that it artificially extends that mission to ridiculous levels. On Regular you can finish it in less than 5 minutes and that's without even speedrunning it, just sprinting around with the flamethrower
What’s really worth thinking about is that within the next 5-10 years there won’t be anyone left who lived through it. My Grandpaw is 93 and he was 14 when it ended.

in the level at around 27:45 the reason the AI is toned down is because youre fighting the last of the japanese reserves aka soldiers that should not really be soldiers in the first place; you can tell this by the fact that some of the japanese soldiers are wearing glasses (poor vision being something that they usually didnt allow until they became more desperate for manpower) as well as obese people or people with disabilities that impair their ability to effectively fight. just thought i'd share :D
27:49 You’re actually kinda on point. CoD WAW tried to portray towards the end of the war, the Axis started conscripting the disabled (or people that weren’t previously considered ‘fit’ to serve in the military) due to low man power. So them either being badly trained or having bad vision (you can see the soldiers starting to have glasses) is actually in the game. Just so we are clear. I loved this game before it was considered good. I still remember the time when everyone said that WaW was the worst CoD game there was - who’s laughing now.
Just FYI, I used to study coding for FPS game and work with some of them. The way player's hit box work in an older game like this one is when you crouch the code will simply reduce the size of your hit box and you will reduce back to smallest hit box when crawling on the ground. Basically player think they play as human but the code seen them as a literal box moving around. Developer usually balance this by just reduce your movement speed along with the hit box size. Well, I know that it actually work like that in real life too (Not all but most of it work). The lower your position is the less likely you will get shot.

I have to be honest. Your positivity and attitude is what brought me here and even though I've been watching you for maybe 2-3 days, I'm watching everything you post and I'm having a blast! Keep at it, Mr. Positive ❤️
I remember Veteran for this being awful and I feel like I'm suffering PTSD flashbacks to grenade spam watching this. I also remember Veteran in CoD2 being just as awful and bringing me to tears from frustration. On the very last level after hours of having a miserable time going through the level the game screwed me over horribly. One objective was you blow up a tank and then all I had to do was just walk to the end with my squadmates. Unfortunately I had blown the tank up on a section of road that had two metal fences on either side of it. That caused my dipshit squatmates to be unable to pathfind around the tank and reach the ending point. I was furious at this and the idea of having to redo the entire level so it caused me to cry in frustration which just pissed me off even more. I don't know how I did it but I managed to get those assholes passed the tank and I was able to finish the game and never have to deal with it again.
"Can we go up this way?"...."Of course we can...". Fucking hilarious. And that moment was the real calm before the storm. Great content, bud. Brings me back to my "completionist" days.
Besides the grenades, something that I don't often see mentioned about this game's difficulty are the godless Type-99 gunners in the Pacific missions. The flinch inflicted by that gun is insane, to the point where if you take one bullet at full health, you're still probably dead because you flinch so badly that you can't see, aim, or move and just eat the rest of the magazine and die. In my opinion, in _Burn 'em Out_ specifically, they are just as bad as the grenades. The FG42 and MG42 guys in the European missions would be just as bad, but they're much rarer. Edit: I think the dude that kept instantly killing Snam from around the corner with inhuman reflexes in _Relentless_ had a Type-99.
"Burn 'em out" reminds me of the "Takedown" in the original modern warfare 2...Militia members constantly spawning around every corner and being on roof tops...pain...just pain.
@@tomkapa I don't know but in "Takedown" nothing makes that easier. I mean the shotty is great but doesn't have a magazine so it takes to damn long to reload.

"Oh well for the wii, I heard you have to beat the game on the highest difficulty" So. I started. My journey to beat the game on the highest difficulty, on the wii. It was a nightmare. The last mission gave me rage I still feel echo through the sands of time. There was no zombie mode on the wii. The internet, was wrong.

i completed on veteran when this game came out - decided many years later to show it to my son. i never made it past the first level on veteran - was not going to suffer through that again
A bit of future advice: the more impossible challenges you do the more difficult a challenge needs to be to entertain you, so be careful with the challenges.
Not true imo. I've done tons of ridiculously punishing trophies but I still get entertained playing super easy stuff too. It's refreshing to just enjoy an easy game sometimes without pulling your hair out.
I remember playing through this with a buddy a few years back, and every once in a while I think of the words "Press G or Middle mouse to throw back" and I smile a bit
I stopped this challenge when I got the infinitely spawning grenades on the final American mission. They'd hit the ground and immediately explode. Took it as a sign that the gods didn't want me to beat it lol
CoD 2 was the veteran that bested me. Limited ammo, limited allies meaning even more limited ammo, infinite enemies unless you push, and if you screw yourself, you have to restart the mission because you have no ammo and no allies left. That being said, WaW tested my limits and gave the biggest rush when I finally beat it on veteran.
12:37 these trenches are bringing ptsd flash backs for me. Its been over 10 years and its still in the back of my gamer lizard brain. The hills and Stalingrad can kick rocks too. Basically crawled through the whole game
so for some reason if i remember correctly is that in that mission at the 28:00 mark the AI was made to kill not just the player but specific soldiers in your troop, if you watch your soldiers they will die and respond to then die again to simulate war. but for some reason one of the NPCs that is on the AI target list is immortal and can't die similar to npcs like reznov specifically (character will never die but will get shot at sometimes but not as much as the killable ones.) so basically speaking, the AI targets the one "killable" ai you have only for it to be immortal and for some reason won't change targets until that one is dead, otherwise basically there is a infinite meat shield.
Snam, I discovered your channel at the start of the year and it's fast become my favourite subscription! WaW is my favourite CoD. I remember trying this when I was 15, and that's when I first truly experienced gamer rage. Keep it coming! Love the content!
I beat this on PC way back in the day. Two moments that I still remember is that cave in the Pacfic mission where you have to clear the mortars (same one he got stuck in for a bit) and the final causeway. In the end that causeway is just luck of not getting grenade-ed to oblivion.
A deeply buried and nearly forgotten trauma was awakened from this absolute nightmare... A piece of my soul that died surfaced in horror as the agony it endured from this resurfaced....
Veteran campaign achievements are a total pain, but honestly, the pain is kinda fun because at a certain point you just shrug. Death ceases to have meaning. I definitely hit that point in Black Ops in Khe Sanh going down the hill.
I completed BO3 on PS4 on Realistic back in 2017 and It was 0.1% Earned. It still is to this day, I guess the name of the Achievement was true to its name.
when i heart the "last 2 missions" I litterally had PTSD flashbacks from my childhood playing those levels on veteran difficulty because of how hard they are, even on hard its so difficult but those are my favorite 2 missions in the game, especially the last one
Dude, I haven't even gotten off the first mission in COD MW3 and BO1 on veteran yet lol. I'm always impressed with how you do these runs. Mama didn't raise no quitter, but damn these levels make me rethink sometimes: "Mama should've raised someone who knows when to quit." Currently I'm training. Able to get to round 34 solo on MW3 Survival though.
Ahh yes, I remember my first and last try on veteran for WAW lolol it lasted up until them grenades started coming nonstop. Screen staying red etc. good video lol I hated this campaign but LOVED it at the same time.
Frankly, whenever I wanted to replay WaW campaign I'm reminded that it's full of infinitely respawning enemies. Seriously, it's one thing when you're defending a point or something, but in Treyarch CoD games there were plenty of moments in which you're attacking a position and th enemy will not stop respawning, so your only real option is to shoot a couple and then rush to the next checkpoint. My "favourite" example was in Black Ops 3, when you're storming the office in Switzerland (iirc) guarded by a bunch of robots including a few really big ones. You can't take things slow and reasonable, even the big ones will respawn after a while, the only real option on a higher dificulty that worked for me was sneaking around the sides and rushing to the door. Same here, when you're storming the Reighstag, the enemies will NEVER stop coming from inside of it.
This has to be my favorite COD campaign because the story is just amazing, and the fact they used real WW2 footage in each cutscene really makes it feel more real, because this war really did happen. But goddamn, this campaign on Veteran is so fucking hard, luckily I’ve completed it on Veteran twice already.

Beating Heart of the Reich on veteran is genuinely one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done. It didn’t even feel satisfying to beat, totally understand the pain
I have to be honest. Your positivity and attitude is what brought me here and even though I've been watching you for maybe 2-3 days, I'm watching everything you post and I'm having a blast! Keep at it, Mr. Positive ❤️
The one good thing about veteran difficulty is that it takes away the "you died from a grenade" text
Beating this game on veteran was unironically one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in gaming.
Ayyy but you did it though!
This achievement was hell, But I love it ironically. Not only has this mode scarred me for life, now I can't play War at War on anything but Veteran.
"Can we go up this way?"...."Of course we can...". Fucking hilarious. And that moment was the real calm before the storm. Great content, bud. Brings me back to my "completionist" days.
I haven’t seen anyone else notice the .935 second reference. That was god tier thank you snamwiches.
The flamethrower makes it so easy idk why he never used it
@@tomkapa I don't know but in "Takedown" nothing makes that easier. I mean the shotty is great but doesn't have a magazine so it takes to damn long to reload.
The sigh at 18:25 and the fact that beating the mission didn't even feel satisfying... they really wanted you to experience that war is hell hahaha
as someone who got this achievement i just want to say that this game on veteran is a nightmare that will haunt me for all time. Grenades, Grenades everywhere.
My friends and I called WaW on Veteran "Grenade of Duty" because of exactly what you said. It was AWFUL.
I still get so excited when one of your videos comes out. They definitely brighten the days haha.
I’m really glad to hear that man :)
Even though I only started watching you not that long ago, it’s crazy to see how much you’ve grown in that time. You’ve quickly become one of my faves on here and deserve every sub you get!
thank you for uploading snam, your videos really make my night. work has been horrendously stressful and the laughs really help 💕
Thank you man, glad the vids can spread some positivity:)
Swear whenever the day is really slow I watch your videos and my day flies because I really enjoy your videos Snam. Hope you make a million more
Hey Snam! How about you do the "I CHOSE THE IMPOSSIBLE" achievement from Bioshock? You must end the game without dying on the ultimate hard mode.
All you have to do is constantly save.
I am proud to say I beat WAW on Veteran and "Keep your heads up and we'll get through this in three days."-Sgt.Roebuck
People paid me to get them this achievement. Unreal.
Back in the older days when I was young, I knew about world at war having a zombies mode. "Just beat the campaign" they said. I was on the Wii.
Did veteran for my first playthrough, I ended up finishing it, and became an amazing sigma male.
Look at Snam BLOWING UP. 136K ALREADY?! Seems like you were at 6k when I subbed and I've blinked and here you are... well done man
I hope you're feeling a little better knowing that this video is done ❤️
Boss must have stayed up most of the night for this.
@@Tanto95 LMAO basically but I can finally rest (for like a day then it’s onto the next haha)
@@Snamwiches I respect the grid.
I am so glad I found your channel. Your content is so entertaining and I really enjoy all of the effort you put into the videos with the editing. Also, the dedication to completing the achievements, despite all of your pain and suffering for hours on end, makes it THAT much better. Thank you Snam for the laughs ❤
Oh god! This brings back memories! This was one of my first platinums as a kid. I felt so proud when I finally got it. Those grenades!
Did this in 08/09 when it came out and everypart of your video was still burned into my memory like it was yesterday. Has to be the hardest campaign
I got rejected by my crush today but this video is here to comfort me
Go beat this campaign on Veteran. They'll come running!
@@firehawkd thx dude will do
i completed on veteran when this game came out - decided many years later to show it to my son. i never made it past the first level on veteran - was not going to suffer through that again
What the fuck are you talking about, this isn't true at all 😂
I remember playing through this with a buddy a few years back, and every once in a while I think of the words "Press G or Middle mouse to throw back" and I smile a bit
I stopped this challenge when I got the infinitely spawning grenades on the final American mission. They'd hit the ground and immediately explode. Took it as a sign that the gods didn't want me to beat it lol
A hacker gave me maximum prestige 🥵
>Snam is on the part storming the Reichstag at 196 deaths when the video says he died 308 times
Oh boy this is gonna be fun.
A deeply buried and nearly forgotten trauma was awakened from this absolute nightmare... A piece of my soul that died surfaced in horror as the agony it endured from this resurfaced....
That tall grass mission you're supposed to use the flame thrower to burn em out the grass and also removes their cover
That add transition was smooth as butter
I finished this on vet but on PC with KB/M seeing some actually finishing this on a controller makes me think you're some kind of god
This was one of the biggest reliefs getting Vet done on this my god! That one trench hallway i will remember forever.
when i heart the "last 2 missions" I litterally had PTSD flashbacks from my childhood playing those levels on veteran difficulty because of how hard they are, even on hard its so difficult but those are my favorite 2 missions in the game, especially the last one
Last mission is iconic for sure, so many cool set pieces!
37:32 gave me War Flashbacks to my Veteren playthrough. Thank you for that.
I've played through and completed every COD from Call Of Duty II to Advanced Warfare on Veteran difficulty, and WaW was the hardest no contest.
I remember this hell. Glad to see snamwiches enjoyed the same amount of fun.
The Nein minutes cooking time joke got me real good.
this video is absolute comfort food feel for you every time with this one Snam
This has to be my favorite COD campaign because the story is just amazing, and the fact they used real WW2 footage in each cutscene really makes it feel more real, because this war really did happen. But goddamn, this campaign on Veteran is so fucking hard, luckily I’ve completed it on Veteran twice already.
One of my old buddies had a video for me to watch many years ago. Rage Quit: Call of Duty WaW and I laughed so damn hard.
This video brought back those memories ha. As time went on my friend and I haven’t hung out or even spoken in a long time now. Growing older and having a family and all, I’m sure many of you know how that goes, but it just kind of hits you that, damn, where’d the time go?
22:11
Damn, son. You weren't even presented the pure evil option, and still took it.
Congratulations, man! I overcame veteran two days after the release date. WaW and COD 1 are a good challenge.
100%ing waw back in the 360 days will always be something I'm proud of. That game was not easy to 100%
