I spruced up a '83 J-20 (3/4ton). Put in a long block 360v8, redid brakes, radiator, custom wheels, good quality paint job, new upholstery, repaired rust spots. Made it look really good. Drove it a couple years and sold it when I got tired of it. I didn't break even on it but came close probably because it was a 3/4 ton which is less available than the 1/2 tons, and the buyer wanted a 3/4 ton specifically.
I've restored to a reasonable extent a 78 Malibu and an 80 Malibu and sold them later. It was a time I went thru and that's what I wanted to do. Now I have a new Honda Hybrid and a C-6 Corvette because that's what I feel like having.

Im in no way talking about buying a car tjats worth 3k and stripping it for parts for 6k. You and Tony dont seem to grasp what im trying to say.
His barracuda for example in tjat condition sells for an average of 3500$. Exactly what he paid for it. He didnt get any (deal) because it has parts worth more than 3500 . he got fair market value for that whole car. Plain and fing simple. Now are the parts worth more ? Sure. But were not talking about that again were talking about a whole car. How this is evaiding your tiny brain and his is beyond me.
My truck is an amazing example if you look at its condition when i got it. It was an absolute pile of rusted crap. The brush gaurd alone is worth more than the truck was. No one is going to spend $7000 on a 800$ truck.

In a previous era $1000 got you a daily driver - high mileage bondo bucket, but it would run. These days, the asking and getting price for a turd is $2500, and nobody has anything I would recommend for a down and out friend for less than $4000 lien-free. Less than that means you’re calling AAA for a tow every week, or a reputable mechanic will say sorry, scrap it.
Nothing on the used corner of a new dealer’s lot is under $15K except as-is approaching end of life.
I totally wish it wasn’t that way, and once in a while somebody gets lucky, but I know I’ll never again find a turbo Shadow that needs nothing sitting on a dealer’s lot for $500. They’re asking thousands more for Cobalts and PT Cruisers. I hope it’s all just a bad dream.

That's a cool Jeep. The pickup style (Comanche?) is harder to find of course. Most are the Wagoneer/Cherokee type. What year is that? I'm more familiar with the old AMC cars than with the Jeep products. (The steering wheel and column says early 70s to me but it doesn't have the "flat" door handles.) I understand the problem when when you have a vehicle that is worth more as parts but I hate to see so many old cars being parted out. The old cars have character that is not common in newer cars.

Almost every other video of his is him responding to comments he doesnt like. Like he cant handle any form of critique or any other opinion. And he will jist toss out his years doing things and pull out his magazines he wrote 40 years ago. Like his car part sales thing he told everykne and me he did it for 10 years. Ok ? Ive been doing it for 20 now. So what ? I know what hes talking about as far as car part value. But the arguement in hand wasnt buying a vehicle cheap and parting it out to make money. He litterally said that antique cars sell for the part value. That isnt true at all. They sell for their overall condition and rarity if theyre rare. Not for what their parts are worth.
A perfect example is when you restore a vehicle. Or build a Jeep for example. Yes it raises its value. But you also rarely get the money you put back into it. Unless you did the work yourself or had employees you pay to do it. Versus being charged a premium by a shop if that makes sense.
But again were talking about cars like my Jeep or his cuda.. which are worth only about 3-3500$.. are the parts worth more ? Hell yes. But is the truck worth more ? No it isnt. Thats all i said and he blew up on me calling me ab idiot in his live streem 2 weeks ago and then making a video the next day talking about me.
Hes done this to me before when i made a comment abiut engines catching on fire. When gasoline gets all over the intake manifold and combusts. I had it happen and it caught wires rubber and plastic on fire and if i didnt hose it off i woulda lost my Jeep. But he fired back saying it isnt possible. Made a video talking about how stupid i am.. ge set his manifold on fire and it burned out. But his vehicle had no wiring. No vacuum tubing. Nothing to contiue the fire its two diff scenarios.
I at the time didnt have a channle like i do now so i couldnt respond back. But now i have a decent channle and i can respond in kind. But the only reason i would get negative comments like i have is because he has a cult following. Much like any republican or democrat does.. where people follow them simply because.
I also do not delete comments. He does. When i asked him to watch this video as i an dead serious on the bet. He deleted my comments but not before he AGREED with me that it woyldnt sell for 7k because it isnt worth 7k. Only its parts are.
