Ahh nice one mate. They are meant to be better off road than the mk2 as I think they have a actual diff lock on them and the mk2 only has a viscous coupling same as the freelander one. 👍🏻
Hi Aaron 05 rav is permanent 4 wheel drive with viscous coupling differential, which means that when either front wheels lose traction it puts more power to the rears and same the other way around. Some ravs have traction control with a button that means you can switch it off when not needed. Also ravs we’re sold originally with limited slip differentials but some had optional torsen differentials. To find out what one has what you need to get the chassis number and contact Toyota and they can tell you what it was originally sold with. But I have heard that you can add a locking differential as an after market option but no idea how much they would be to install. Hope that helps. 👍🏻
Hi mate if it’s anything like the mk3 it’s not technically a proper diff lock all it does is changes it from 2wd to 4wd but it will deactivate when you hit 25mph so also no you don’t have to be in N when you switch it on. Hope that helps. 👍🏻
I do love mine too even if it doesn’t look like it 🤣 I’ve got to be some what careful as I use the rav daily and in the last year I’ve spent more money on her than what she cost me to buy. Cheers
Just bought a 2003 rav with only 165000 kms. Stoked as! Cool little track you’re driving on!
They are good little trucks mate and definitely better than expected off road. 👍🏻
I picked up a MK1 rav4 last week and live in the same general area, will be following in your footsteps.
What’s an MK1 rav4?
@@zerokool-2058 mark 1, ie. first generation. This video shows the second generation, ie. mark 2/mk2
Recently picked up a t30 (mk1) x trail and would love to go see what it's capable of... maybe we can get a group together and go have fun
Ugh I can’t find places to take my RAV4
I’m the east coast…!
Gotta keep on searching.

Looking at buying a 05 rav soon just wondering if you know if it has diff lock and if it does where is the button for it? Thanks

@@rav4offroad it really does mate thanks for your help i appreciate it. All the best.
I got a 2011. I have the diff lock button but I don’t know how to use it or what it does… like should I be in N when I click it…?

Hearing that keys hanging about like that pisses me off. They will wear the ignition barrel down after time
Ha ha I know but it was only whilst watching the vids I noticed how bad it was. Definitely have to remove car key from the bunch next time. 👍🏻
Nice to know what it can do,but NO WAY would I subject my rav4 to that rocky part-I love my rav,I could not abuse it like that

Why so slow 🐌
I could drive my Camry on that road.
Go for it. I’d love to see that. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad I'm the US the country roads are crap. They call them minimum maintenance roads. I have a rav and a camery both look like complete shit
My corolla could do that
And my bmw
