Short vid of a byway I stumbled upon after going off for a family walk one day then coming back and doing a short vid seeing that I had no one else to do the camera work so I had to do a bit of running back and forth to reset the camera each time.

love your channel! i have the same car and didn't know it was capable of all of this, taught me a lot on how to drive it too.
Hi, thanks for that. Yeah I must admit it surprises me how it gets through what I put it through. And all it’s got is a 40mm lift kit and all terrain tyres. 👍🏻
Que medida de ruedas llevas ?
Hi mate 16” with 235/70/16 tyres. 👍🏻
@rav4offroad en carretera funciona bien o es demasiada rueda para ese coche ?
Hi mate sorry for the late reply, I haven’t noticed any difference on the road to be honest as the only size that went up was the tyre wall bigger by 10%. 👍🏻
Very nice car, driving and nature. How does the on-road balance of the car affected with the spacers?
Hi mate thank you, I have not noticed any difference with on road handling since the lift but to be honest they don’t have the greatest road holding to begin with🤣
@ thank you🙂. Just want to make sure it will not be even worse😄 I saw at one comment that you were planning to go for lifting springs instead. Have you done it? If yes any differences compare to the spacers?
Hi mate. I didn’t go with springs in the end due to needing to save some money and the lift blocks were a lot cheaper. I think the only difference if I had the longer springs would be more travel range but not sure if that’s a good thing seeing that the ravs sit quite low to begin with and with 40mm lift it still bottoms out on deep ruts. 👍🏻
Tyres 235 70 r 16 A/T. ?
Yep that’s correct. Triangle are the make. 👍🏻

Hi mate yeah should be ok. I had that size tyres on mine before I did the lift. 👍🏻

Awesome content mate, whats the wading depth of 2nd gen rav4 ?
Hi. Thanks mate. Not sure what the wading depth is but probably less than I’ve put it through 🤣 the air intake is behind the headlight so it’s quite high up and mine is lifted and also has bigger tyres than standard so it should add a bit more to it. When I went through the deep water on strata Florida it was just a bit higher than the bottom of the headlights but the only problem I noticed was that because mine is petrol it started to lose power near the end even though I was in first gear, whereas a diesel would of kept powering on. Diesel power for me next. 👍🏻
@rav4offroad Thank you for the reply mate. Awaiting for more content. Cheers ✌️
What tyre depth do You recommend? 70mm vs 75mm? Have You tried both? For the larger rocks I can imagine 75mm is beneficial over 70mm. To have some separate road alloys and tyres also.
Hi I’ve got 70s and they seem to be ok. 75s might end up rubbing the arches if you have muds on. Another option would be going with 15” rims instead of 16s then you would have more room for bigger tyres and also more scope to air-down when needed. But unfortunately the rav ain’t no rock crawler so we can’t go to extremes unfortunately. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad Cool, Its a Tucson premium se I was looking at and install a 25mm Bilstein lift kit. 75mm 16 will fit without rubbing they have 45mm 19 as standard. I do love Toyota rav 4 obviously. invincible spec but they miss a lot of gadgets like cooled seats, heated steering wheel, DSG gearbox ect. Amazing soft roader though it was my first choice.
Ces 4 roue motrice permanent?
Yeah. Permanent 👍🏻
Nice video... Is your Rav lifted ? These are constant AWD's, they have good traction in all sorts of terrain.
Hi mate. It is lifted by 40mm and also slightly bigger tyres than std 235/70/16 a/t 👍🏻
Bonjour ces une 4x4 roue motrice permanent svp?
Hi. Yes they are permanent 4wd. No traction control either. 👍🏻
Ok merci beaucoup.elle est magnifique.donc elle rest tout temp en 4 roue motrice.
That’s true. It also doesn’t have traction control so it’s better when stuck in mud.
😂😂🤣🤣
Soon be time to get my swb d4d lifted
Do it, you won’t regret it. Then try either wheel spacers or wheels with 0 offset so they stick out a little. 👍🏻
RAV4 has no business in off-roading 😂😂
It may well have no business in off-roading but it done good. 🤷🏼♂️
Why not ? The Rav 4 is surprisingly competent... I know I had one.
@@Wolf4wdadventures.576 well I mean any awd is competent with the right tyres 😀

Thats it im getting one asap. Prius paid off timento save for this mini overlander. Thanks for the video
Ha ha nice one. Glad you liked the video and glad to enlist a new disciple to the rav4 family 👍🏻
sorry if i missed it, but what PSI did you air down to for this trip?
Hi mate. I didn’t air down much they were on about 32 psi. I should have aired down to about 20psi to be honest as we were bounced around a bit and I’m surprised I didn’t get a puncture or lose much grip. Lessons learnt. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad Right on! What tires are you running? Can't tell

Thanks mate. Appreciated 👍🏻
Good driver!
Thanks mate. 👍🏻
That’s sounds nice mate. There is a way of turning off traction control when you get stuck as that won’t help when that happens. Can’t remember exactly how but I found it on google.
Do you have a centre locker on your rav
Hi mate, no I do t have a centre locker it’s just permanent 4wd with viscous coupling unit - VCU that act like a locker when front or rear wheels start losing traction. It’s not great though but it’s better than nothing. 👍🏻
Yeah I just purchased the o4 rav4 cruiser mine doesn’t have the centre locker either mine has Vehicle control ABS (antilock brakes) Traction Electronic stability EBD (electronic brake force distribution) Differential Centre differential Viscous coupling It’s a very tidy rav only 120,000 km on the clock
I just found it. Don’t know if it works but this is what was on google. Disable trc vsc 1 turn on car 2 clutch in 3 press brake then brake and hold 4 hand brake 2 times 5 brake 2 times
Thanks
Funciona bien el bloqueo aer equation?
Hi, if you mean aer locker ? I do t have one sorry. But I have heard that they do work very well.
@@rav4offroad que llevas la tracción 4x4 de serie del coche ?
Hi mate yeah standard full time 4wd
Do you still go up there? If so I’ve got the same car and go up there all the time. I’m from Southampton
Hi mate. I haven’t been up there for a while or anywhere off road unfortunately as I’ve had a shoulder problem for a while but when its feeling a bit less painful I will have to get out there again. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad fair enough that’s a shame. I’ve just got insa turbo tyres on mine and as good as they are noisy as hell on the road. Think your all terrain are best of both worlds
They’ll get you out of the shit, the problem I’ve found with mine is that they are good in mud in a straight line but if you wanna turn like out of ruts etc they got no biting power and I end up just going in a straight line but with the front wheels sliding sideways. That’s where those insa’s will do the job much better. 👍🏻
Keep going.Enjoy your car and anything makes you happy without disturb anybody. Nikos from Greece.
Hi Nikos, thanks mate will do. And same to you too. 👍🏻
When you get a wheel spinning and your struggling for grip try dusting your brake pedal with your left foot. It will stop the loose wheel spinning and send drive to the wheels still in contact with the ground. loving the Vids, thank you
Hi mate. Glad you’re loving the vids. Very appreciated. I have heard about doing that and I’ve tried it a couple of times but I’ve found 2 things wrong either mine doesn’t like doing that or it could be that I’m not good at doing that 🤣 probably the latter but I will keep trying when I get the chance. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad Takes practice. A bit like rubbing your belly and your head at the same time 🤣 lol. The key is to be gentle. Too hard and you will stop moving 😁
Also, try and practice with the hand break if the issue is with the rear wheels
I loved it
Glad to hear it. Thanks mate. 👍🏻
Vídeo top
Thanks mate. Appreciated 👍🏻
Hello is it lifted?
Hi mate it is but I think the rear springs are too weak it’s lifted 40mm front and rear. 👍🏻
Полная фигня, на девятке проехать можно.
Interesting to watch, thanks. My wife and I are looking at options for a 'small' 4x4 to give us more access to remote places around us and we've been looking in particular at the Vitara or Rav$, so it's great to see one doing what we would be doing. Thanks again
Hi mate, thanks for the comment, they are better than expected but if I had my choice again I would go with the diesel option. The vitara is a great option too and probably better due to it having low range so more control when you need it. Thanks again 👍🏻
your rav4 is 4x4 version? mine is 4x2 23 model....
Alright mate I’m Wiltshire based just got a RAV4 dirty cheap
Hi mate nice one. And you’re lucky being in Wiltshire with Salisbury plain in ya back yard. 👍🏻
buen auto
Thanks mate. 👍🏻
Keep on Rocking! :)
which suspension lift kit did you use and have you fitted a diff lock?. Thanks I'm running a mk2 d4d
Hi mate. I bought a 40mm tema 4x4 kit from eBay it was around £180. It doesn’t have a diff lock just a torsion rear diff. Also I wish I bought the d4d as it has better torque and better mpg. 👍🏻
Como faz para que eu possa acionar o 4 por 4 no Barro vermelho

Hi mate sorry I don’t get it what’s 5:17?
Hi mate, love the videos currently looking at getting a rav 4 like yourse what kind of upgrades have you done to you’re one?? 👍🏼
Hi mate cheers for that. I have replaced all the coil springs and shocks and it has a 40mm lift kit (not that it looks like it at the back) don’t know what seems to be wrong with the rear as the front is nice and high but rear not so much so gonna see if I can get longer rear springs plus stronger ones so it don’t sag under weight. I’ve replaced std size tyres with 235/70/16 a/t to give it more height as well. If you’re going to get a rav mk2 then I would suggest diesel due to much better mpg and better torque, mine’s petrol and it seems to have a drinking problem 🤣
@@rav4offroad Ahhh brilliant mate!! By any chance where do you get the lift kit from and is it permanently 4 wheel drive or what mate can’t quite work it out online and does it also have diff lock?? The One I’m looking at is a diesel i believe I can imagine the petrol engine has a big drinking problem haha 😅🤣
@charlieedward8909 Hi mate most are permanent 4wd with the exception of some of the 2door versions that are 2wd. The lift kit I got is from eBay the brand is terrafirma, think I paid about £180 but if fitting it yourself careful when torquing down the top strut mount bolts as they don’t seem to take as much torque as the original bolts coz I snapped one when I fitted mine 🤦♂️ but they did send out a few replacements so that was good.
G'day ive bought a 3 door rav4 and im currently getting it registered. However i want it to be offroad worthy so im going to put at's on it and a lift kit. But im mostly confused on how to source a Lsd for the rear so i can have rear locking. do you have any advice or recommendations for what diff i can get and how to get rear locking to work. btw im based in Australia
Hi mate. Cheers for the message, with the rear diffs some were lsd and others had torsion diffs but to find out which one you have you can ask your Toyota dealer to look up the vin number/chasis number, and they should be able to find it that way or drain the rear diff and remove the back plate and you will see which one you have then, but just adding a lsd won’t make it a locking diff you will need to buy an e-locker and have a separate switch added for it. That’s about £800 just for the locker and then you need it fitted which would cost about the same again unless you’re pretty good mechanically. Hope that helps mate. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroad cheers for the reply, this does help im hoping to do the diff with some of my mechanic mates so it shouldn't be to bad. I've checked already and I have the non lsd version. So im trying to source a st205 celica gt4 rear diff and then get some lockers, and it should be a great project.
Sounds cool mate. But check the e-locker first as I think it comes complete with the diff. Might be wrong but worth checking. 👍🏻
My rav4 is a cheap toy so i went to the cheap mod which is welding diff
Sweet brother, i just bought a 07 v6 with 4W. Cant wait to take it off road. You have any lockers?
Hi mate nice one that’s the mk3 bet it’s nice with the v6. Only lockers mine has is a torsion diff. So no lockers as such. 👍🏻
@@rav4offroadcan I do this with an Vauxhall Corsa? 😂
@missemmett5401 corsa ya can if u lift it put some decent tyres on it and add 4wd 🤣
I have the same toyota rav4 and this color. My toyota rav4 is 2002. Greathings from patagonia argentina
Hi mate. That’s cool it is a lovely blue. Also hi from the uk and thanks for joining 👍🏻
To the right is Big Uplands and to the left is Small Uplands
Ahh thanks for the info mate. I tried to look for it on the maps but couldn’t find it. 👍🏻
No problem. Are you aware of the Green lane association (Glass) You can join them for route info through Trailwise2. Best 40 quid you could spend for info on lane
I live local by the way.
Yeah I’ve heard of glass I was thinking of doing that as it looks easier than hunting but just had mot and it needs a full set of brake pads so that’s costing enough for the moment so probably give it a couple of months then get it. 👍🏻
Know what you mean. but well worth it.@@rav4offroad
Great fun! AWDs are lil' weapons 😊 I know because I "torture" a KEI car off road ua-cam.com/video/5Egcd9s0f18/v-deo.htmlsi=drmXjmDC7FIS6SE_😅 Many happy miles! ❤

Thanks mate👍🏻
I really like these little buggers...but didn't want to get one because they are UNDERPOWERED... -- or so I thought-- til I found out they made 07-2012 in V-6 which is plenty of power and they will RUN FOREVER.. the engine and tranny in them is BULLET PROOF. I'm researching now- found several to go check out... :) CAN"T WAIT..
Hi mate. Yeah the petrol one is quite under powered I wish I got the diesel version. I e put mine through quite a bit of abuse considering it’s not really an off roader but it still surprises me sometimes what it can do. Good luck in your search and hope you find a good one. 👍🏻
I don't like the new ones-- or the hybrid mess-- just more tech to cost a fortune later when it screws up-(and it WILL)..... I"m thinking of getting an 07 to a 2012 in V-6, then it would have enough power to do what's needed.
Nice off-roading at the night, thanks for sharing Ben.
Hi mate. No worries. That was after some heavy rain that we had for a few days. Still waiting for some snow though. That will be fun when we get some or it might be a bloody miracle if we get some in Bristol. 🤣
greetings from Croatia I have a rav4 2004 2.0 D-4D
Hi mate. Thanks. That’s a nice rav you have. I wish I had the diesel version due to better torque and more miles on fuel. 👍🏻
damn what a nice looking rav4. She tackles everything you throw at her quite well too lol.
Thanks mate. It does surprise me some times what it will go through, the only problem with them is height as I bottomed out once and had to be towed off a mud mound. 👍🏻
