I will forever emphasize the importance of BO1's DLC, it's one of the key components that made the game such a cultural icon. From the addition of the serialized storyline embedded in the Zombie's optional Easter Eggs, without them the maps held up their own by shear design philosophies, but was an arguably necessary option to maintain replayability for time to come, to multiplayer maps giving a breath of fresh air to the game mode that kept me coming back for more, with each DLC offering more than 1 forever infamous map. Stadium, Berlin Wall, Zoo, Convoy, Hotel, Drive in, Hanger 18, all phenomenal maps! The cherry on top being the final DLC, to remaster the WaW Zombies maps was a smart decision, then to have the final game Easter Egg result in the destruction of the Earth, leaving fans wondering where the developers could possibly go from there! *Chefs kiss* I'm forever grateful to be able to experience BO1 in it's prime, the hype and anticipation for the DLCs for both game modes, to experience it all first hand at launch, will forever resonate in my nostalgia bone.
Thank you, FINALLY someone deep dives on this take. BO1 DLC’s are incredibly nostalgic to me because they were special, and you truly had to be there to experience it. The weeks leading uo to and weeks after the drops of each dlc were some if the best times of my life. I would get in trouble in my 4th grade class talking to my friend about the new maps and zombies. (Yes, I was a pure bred COD squeaker when i started playing and I am proud of it). We will truly never see a launch and/or lifespan of a COD game as special as BO1…RIP.
Man , I’d do anything to be right back here. BO1 was the peak for COD. I was 14 in it’s prime. Skipping school , not doing homework. They just don’t make ‘em like how they used too. Thanks for bringing a smile to my jaded face

whenever i think of BO1 it just makes me wanna cry, the best period of my life, an innocent child no worries in the world except getting home from school quick enough to play as many hours as possible with friends life was so easy..
Black Ops 1 is my favorite COD for the content. Unique scopes for Soviet/Western guns (thermals are different, red dot was different, I think reflex was slightly different, unique style for British guns like the enfield and L91, AUG scope, G11 scope), secret weapon unlocks (they were pretty hype back then), emblem editor, unique models for HK and RPK with extended mags (becomes drums), unique grip models (I.e: Mac 10’s wire stock extended out), three underbarrel grenade launchers (Soviet/Western/AK-74U), face camos, customizable red dots (it’s a lot too) and lenses, underbarrel flame thrower, able to see all the faction models in custom class, hardly used but the camera equipment was a cool feature, more skill base weapons like the ballistic knife and crossbow, FIVE, dead ops arcade, wage matches, reroll care package and the first CoD to introduce offline bots (though you needed to update the game before you can use them). Also having map hazards were cool like the giant rocket, and interact-able map elements like the giant trap door, elevators in hotel (sneak a C4 on the roof) or kowloon’s zipline (that I wish you could shoot a pistol at least). Black Ops would have been 100% perfect if it only had AI buddies for Zombies like in BO3 mod or BO4 natively. It has its flaws (like the weirdly minimalistic font and UI) but during the 360/PS3 era, I felt like it was the most innovative cod up to that point, that BO2 felt disappointing at times.
I remember being so excited for call of the dead to finally come out on ps3 cause that’s what I had at the time and when the dlc finally dropped Anonymous shut down the PlayStation severs for a few weeks

I was 10 when I got my first copy in 2010, I still remember my favorite DLC maps, still remember every single map pack from first strike to rezurrection. I still daydream about the streak pattern I used to use. First, I'd turn on the SR71 to pull all the campers out of their rat holes, then immediately after I'd set the dogs loose, then once everyone was running for their lives, I'd jump in the chopper gunner. Good luck trying to shoot me down while you're running for your life!😂
I am also a huge fan of Hotel. I think the majority of Black Ops 1 maps don't dip under an 8/10 for me. So many like Stadium, Berlin Wall, Hazard, Kowloon, and Zoo are so good that I'd almost always pick them over Nuketown just because I don't think they get enough attention. Loved the video and now I think I'm gonna hop on Black Ops 1 again to relive some of these masterpiece maps.
The smile slowly creeping over my face as I’m watching this is the result of so many hours played on this game. The only cod I master prestiged on. The nostalgia is heavy.
Fire ass video, I may focus more on zombies on my channel but man the multiplayer dlc was really as creative as it gets with the Cold War/berlin wall era
I’ve never been through Black Ops when it was released, but I eventually did play play few years later. That’s interesting to hear what people who’ve lived this period have to say about it and cherish the game, whereas I really do enjoy this game too but never had any golden memories about it or whatever. However I had this similar on Black Ops 2, remember seeing the ads on TV, my dad buying my the game when I was only 12 and playing Tranzit over and over for a year (I was playing it on Wii U, no DLC sadly). Later on, my dad bought me a Xbox 360 just after the last DLC dropped and I was so amazed to discover all the new mp and zombies maps, great memories…
I started playing CoD online with 2009 MW2 as a kid and while that game is my favorite CoD, I'll never forget my first time getting over 20 kills with only 2 deaths on Search and Destroy on the Discovery map; it was when the DLC just dropped and I had no school because it was a snow day (I had 3 school days off in a row which connected to the weekend; so I had 5 days in a row of no school as a kid where I got to play the first Black Ops DLC at release. I cracked open the window to my bedroom, wrapped myself in thick blankets, had some hot cocoa, and was playing on the new snow maps while it was snowing like crazy outside. Black Ops 1 was the peak of CoD. MW2 have been the "biggest" CoD ever, but the BEST will always be BO1. The perfect balance of a great story, great multiplayer, and fantastic zombies mode.
Black Ops smoked Modern Warfare 2. Black Ops is the highest selling CoD game of all time. MW2 is like 8th or something, it had humongous hype but it was abandoned by many by Christmas, not only by players but by the devs themselves. Infinity Ward disbanded not long into the games life. Black Ops was piping hot all year long. Also, Zombies Chronicles for Black Ops 3, which is basically all BO1 maps, is the highest selling DLC of any video game, ever. Speaks volumes. Black Ops is the GOAT.
Call of duty was my whole life and i bought black ops and first strike on release day. Tbh i thought i got the other map packs but i dont remember those maps at all so i guess i didnt. I also entered my drug taking years in april 2011 so maybe thats why i dont remember lol

Sad thing is when I bought the game again on my series X and trying to buy 2 dlc, u can’t find any matches cause it’s a lot of new accounts so people not spending the money for it anymore. If u don’t have any dlc, you’ll find a match in seconds now.
Why can’t we get maps with this much theming and atmosphere anymore? I swear, each map was designed with the attention to detail of a theme park experience
For some reason Discovery was always my favourite DLC map from this game, with Hazard in close second. I didnt know hazard was even a remake until just now.

Every single one of the DLCs was an absolute treat, as were the regular game maps. The maps were fun, the design was top tier and it guaranteed good games every time. I would love to be back experiencing Black Ops 1 and all of the DLC again for the first time.

bo1 was the best cod game ever made. Campaign, multiplayers, zombies, everything was perfect. It was so ahead of it's time with graphics and gameplay too, it was back when the dev's played the game like us and actually gave a sh*t. It's still poppin' online in december 2024
Stockpile was amazing. With the number of times it was voted in, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was an original map. Totally agree, great DLC maps in this game.
Shangri-la was the hardest map therefore it made it my favorite because it was a challenge to get further than what round would seem nooby on other maps. It was unpredictable yet predictable in many ways.
I loved black ops 1 and how cod was so good back than. I use to buy those great dlc and all were good , also it was the time where activision used to release good quality maps . Mw3,bo1 and bo2 all had good dlc maps.
I was like 11-12 when this game came out and my dad bought all the DLCs and the prestige edition to have early access to the zombie maps in the 4th dlc even though I didn’t ask for it Bo2 is my fav cod ever but bo1 had the most creative maps and I think I pretty much enjoyed all the dlc maps
its my favorite too I kinda hate how bo1 zombies is more overlooked for black ops 3 for the new games inspo but nothing beat black ops 1 for me it perfected the imperfections of world at war and was just so fun.
MW2's Carnival is still probably my #1 DLC map, but Black Ops probably had the best overall DLC. W@W and BO2 had some great maps too, I really liked Knee Deep and Revolution in W@W and Grind, Downhill, Mirage and Studio in BO2.
Unplayable at this moment on Xbox due to hackers and I don’t think Activision will ever update the server on older games so they can move players to newly released CoD
Compared to them giving us shop bundles every week yes. But these map outshine all new maps from the past 4 games. Like its nothing. It's not about how much it's about how well it's made and the heart behind it.
I would seriously do anything for a remaster of this game… I don’t think it will ever happen but one can hope. One thing I also appreciate about the maps on this game is that they all had such a cool unique location and cool scenery. I feel like so many maps in new CODs are so bland and predictable.
This is the best COD IMO. Never understood why they didn't bring back the in game COD points you could wager in matches. You could unlock any attachment with them and no weapon cost real money. Just the best.
Black ops 1 DLC was the best I remember begging my parents as a kid to give me 15 dollars to buy every dlc I was addicted to playing those damn online maps that I remember losing weight of how addicted I was to black ops 1

If u trhow the smoke grenade in the "red zone" in Berlin Wall, the machine gun aren't able to shot at you due to smoke
what a time to be alive
Amazing video btw took me on a nostalgia trip
Glad you liked it
I was like 11-12 when this game came out and my dad bought all the DLCs and the prestige edition to have early access to the zombie maps in the 4th dlc even though I didn’t ask for it
Bo2 is my fav cod ever but bo1 had the most creative maps and I think I pretty much enjoyed all the dlc maps
I gave bo1 another chance after 2 years, Bought all the dlc, absolutely amazing game and dlc 👌, also loved zombies
For sure one of my favorites
When the black ops 1 dlc were coming out I was too young to buy them for myself I never knew Danny Trejo was a character that’s fire
Call of the dead is one of my all time favorite zombie maps. You should play it.
GOATED COD
2:38 nice emblem
Haha
Richto that was ….The golden age of COD!
its my favorite too I kinda hate how bo1 zombies is more overlooked for black ops 3 for the new games inspo but nothing beat black ops 1 for me it perfected the imperfections of world at war and was just so fun.
Battlepasses ruined creativity
I agree. sad to see.
MW2's Carnival is still probably my #1 DLC map, but Black Ops probably had the best overall DLC. W@W and BO2 had some great maps too, I really liked Knee Deep and Revolution in W@W and Grind, Downhill, Mirage and Studio in BO2.
This game was so formative in my childhood the best game in the series hands down!
Hotel is my favorite CoD map of all time. We need more maps with elevators and ways to get around besides ziplines
I agree. Never was the biggest fan of zipline travel
14 years later. Facts.
Acession zombie map was goated edit: moon was my favorite and the easter egg was fucking awesome
Hangar 18 might be a reference to Megadeath.
3:50 Zoo was remade in black ops Cold War !
Unplayable at this moment on Xbox due to hackers and I don’t think Activision will ever update the server on older games so they can move players to newly released CoD
Yea its sad to see these old games die for good. Got on black ops 2 the other day for zombies and only 300 people were online
i played today and found 0 hackers
Great video! Memories...
I was thinking to myself like damn we were spoiled back then but in reality this is the bare minimum
Compared to them giving us shop bundles every week yes. But these map outshine all new maps from the past 4 games. Like its nothing. It's not about how much it's about how well it's made and the heart behind it.
I think CoD Ghosts’ Multiplayer also had the one of best DLC maps not including the extinction missions which were also fun to run.
These were amazing map designs I really enjoyed them. Golden age of COD before AI, data tracking, greed.
I would seriously do anything for a remaster of this game… I don’t think it will ever happen but one can hope. One thing I also appreciate about the maps on this game is that they all had such a cool unique location and cool scenery. I feel like so many maps in new CODs are so bland and predictable.
I agree. The maps all stopped having personality
Those maps were lit!
Beat jumpin while you explaining
Black ops 1 was the pinnacle of cod games
amazing times amazing game oh how i took that for granted as a young teenager😂😢
Hears Bo 1 music starts crying
Hard agree. This was before Treyarch got trapped in the 3 lane hell all of their games turned into
They use to be our savior.
This is the best COD IMO. Never understood why they didn't bring back the in game COD points you could wager in matches. You could unlock any attachment with them and no weapon cost real money. Just the best.
The wager matches were a really cool part of that game.
The first COD I ever owned and to this day the best one ever
Black ops 1 DLC was the best I remember begging my parents as a kid to give me 15 dollars to buy every dlc I was addicted to playing those damn online maps that I remember losing weight of how addicted I was to black ops 1
I wasent that addicted but close. Get home from school to only play call of the dead.
