    I've built 4 of this class, the fifth is under construction,tamiya is still the best,i wish they would produce a hood or a nelson/rodney class,the modelling community's crying out for a 1/350 rodney, well done on your version.

    Although I may not have seen some of your builds close up mate, but this build has got to be my favourite. She is just stunning my friend and seeing it saddens me that the real ship and other British battleships were sacrificed so stupidly in an attempt to 'fly flag'. Bloody well done sir. 👍 👌👏

      Your favourite? Wow, now there's a compliment! Thank you very much. What in particular makes it sparkle? It gives me something to think about for the next model

      @@JJModelMaking I think firstly, it's the Prince of Wales! I love her design and, well, she's British! But your weathering worked really well. The dark grey of the superstructure makes her look menacing. The rigging adds the icing to the cake too, for me mate.

    +JJModelMaking I'm really keen to start modelling, but I am undecided on what ship to model. This ship, although my dream, looks way too hard for me to start on as I am a beginner. Do you recommend any ships?

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      Good for you Henry! Yes the Prince of Wales would be a bit tricky to begin with. I always recommend starting with something smaller. The USS Coronado kit would be a good one to start with. To start with it's pretty cheap at approx £25 and not too many parts, it comes with photoetch so you could try that if you wanted. Plus it's a trimaran so looks very cool. I've made a video of it if you want to take a look? If you do decide to buy one, let me know as I could send you a link from my Amazon affiliate shop front. I would receive a small commission which I can reinvest into the channel. Have a think...

    • @henryhall8238
      @henryhall8238 5 років тому +1

      @@JJModelMaking Hi. Thanks for the recommendation. Sadly i am not that keen on trimaran, but I really do like the idea of starting with a much easier ship. I have heard that the bismarck is tough, but a great beginner ship for 1:350 modellers. It also looks really great, and I am always up for a challenge ! I am all for going via your amazon affiliate, as long as there is a ship that I may like, what is the website and I will take a look! I would love to help your channel out, it is really great and informative; keep up the good work ! Thanks, Henry

    Do you put weights inside the lower hull, make it water-tight, and make your model ships float? Because I’m planning to do so to my 1/700 scale full hull ships.
    Are my plans to make them float okay?

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      I have to admit I don't do that, well at least not yet. The idea should work for a 1/700 ship but probably won't need much weight. The hardest buy will be keeping it water tight

    Great vid and model , one question I was given both the POW and KGV will the wooden upgrade deck fit both models haven't look at the decks, as I plan to get one as they look fabulous on all the pics I have seen ? cheers

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      Thanks Dave! The deck layout is slightly different on each ship I'm pretty sure. The KGV has more anti-aircraft pods on the stern for example. Which one are you planning to build?

    • @daveelliott5855
      @daveelliott5855 5 років тому +1

      @@JJModelMaking Many thanks for your reply. I would like to do them in Tandem and want to get the decks at the same time ,and now having seen the great look the Eduard upgrade kit does will invest in them as well. Will take time out to study the deck of both ships before buying of course. do you have videos of all your ships constructions on UA-cam? as these ships I have are the first I will attempt only use to building aeroplanes and now Dinosaurs. but watching your vids will give me so much visual experience when I come to build my ships keep up the fine work

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      Thanks Dave! You'll do a great job I'm sure. I'd suggest buying a set of main gun brass or aluminium barrels as well (wouldn't bother with the secondary guns) as they aren't included with the Eduard set. As for videos of my various models on UA-cam, yes they are all there in playlists. Some of the smaller ships only have one or two videos per build but hopefully you'll find them interesting too. Any one ship in particular?

    hey! what do you use to put the small parts onto the wooden plate, i tried finding some material for easier painting and not getting finger prints all over.. is it some sort of playdoh or a Special material for modeling? thanks in advance

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      Hi Peter, I didn't actually use a wooden deck on this kit. Essentially I painted the deck wood colour and then painted the smaller bits by hand. You could use Maskol or something similar though?

    • @peterzellinger6316
      @peterzellinger6316 5 років тому +1

      @@JJModelMaking i should have specified, sorry. at 5:08 for example you stick the small parts into some Kind of gum, and ive been looking for this material since it is making the painting process of the small parts so much easier.
      ive done the same octuple 40mm guns for the war spite from photo etch parts, but when you have to touch them so often to get every side coloured, then it gets deformed and some parts may break off.
      i dont know if what i mean is understandable for a native Speaker though.. :)

    • @JJModelMaking
      @JJModelMaking  5 років тому

      @Peter Zellinger AH! I see what you mean. The gum is what we call Blu Tac in the UK, a slightly sticky reusable gum made by Bostick - I'll past a link below. Something similar will be available more locally to you I am sure, maybe from a stationery or arts and craft shop. It's often used in schools for examples for displays?
