Hey! Just bought your pattern on Etsy. I had to buy Lion Brand hometown instead of wool ease and I have 6 balls of 74m - do you think that will be enough for a size small if I crop it? Just realize our lion brand skeins might be different size ...
I have a vintage Disney knit book and the sweater I want to make is the oversized goofy sweater and if I sent you the pattern can you help me find the right yarn and also maybe do a video tutorial showing how to make this sweater I would appreciate it Thanks
I love this pattern! The video helped a ton. I'm making sweater #2 and I wanted it more cropped, but I'm not sure which rows and how many to take out. Any suggestions? It's all one color so I won't have stripes on this one :)
If you’ve already made one then I’d suggest using it as a reference for how many rows you’ll have to exclude for the next one. Just take them out of how many you knit for the body before attaching the sleeves.
hi! i’m knitting a size L and i’ve just finished the body but i’m stuck after reading “for large size only cast off 5 on each side instead of 6.” how do i go about this? do i have to cast off 3 stitches at the beginning of the row, 5 in the middle of the row, and 2 at the end? thank you!
Hi, I absolutely love this sweater pattern and have been working on it for the past couple of weeks. I'm currently joining the sleeves to the body of my sweater, and I realized that I may run into problems when decreasing because I am left handed. You mention that one of the decreases slants to the left while the other slants to the right. This is my first knitting project, and I was wondering if I would have to adjust the pattern in order for the decreases to slant the right way? When I knit, I'm pushing my left needle into the stitches on my right needle and passing them over to the left if that clears anything up. I would love some feedback about this. Thank you!
I am using the pattern I got from your Etsy but I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to knit in the round on the sleeve. Maybe my needles are too long? How are you able to get only 22 stitches in a complete circle? Thank so much very excited for this project!
One more question! I just want to make sure I get it right before I continue. In the pattern it says to knit a few rows (36-38) and then start the k2tog and ssk on row 39. In the video it looks like you started making decreases only on the second row of attaching the sleeve. I’m not sure if I’m overthinking? Please help! I love this pattern so much.
The video isn’t following the pattern exactly! I didn’t have enough yarn to make the exact pattern. The video is just showing what to do in certain steps so don’t worry about what the other rows in that sweater look like.
Love, this sweater and super excited to start making it!!! Did you remove some length from the body, if so after which point did you do it? I would to make a cropped version just unsure where to start removing length. Thank you, for this beauty💖
I removed 5 rows from the body, I did it basically between the bottom ribbing and when my first row of any colour patterning happens so it doesn’t affect any striping! The pattern has measurements for how each size will turn out and roughly indicates where you can add or remove rows to alter length :)
I must have done about five swatches and none were coming out the right gauge before I realized I’m using the regular wool ease (NOT wool ease thick & quick) which would explain why my swatches kept coming out too small!
Hello! Thank you for this pattern! I am wondering how long my circular needles need to be for the sleeves? I have 40cm (15.7”) for my short set but it seems too long. What do you use? Thanks again, Alex
This question has been answered a few times in the comments already, the size you have will be fine! The first few rows will not fit you will have to pull the cord out between stitches as you work around and about 4 or 5 rows in you will see that it start to fit on the needles.
Alexandra Carey Hoppe You can always magic loop anything too small to fit on your needles, i can never find longer needles so i save my money for them (bc they are more expensive) so that I can use them for more things, especially since i stick to size +10 (mostly 13)
I absolutely love this pattern and I'm starting on this sweater but I was wondering how many extra rows did you had to your white sweater with the rainbow stripes because I want my sweater that length but I'm not sure how many extra rows I need to add ?
Hi Erin! I just bought your pattern and I can’t wait to get started!! I wanted to ask, if I wanted an even flowy-er sweater do you recommend increasing the gauge? Or buy a less chunky yarn? Thank you so much!!! - also Erin :)
for the smaller cord needles, which are you working with? I am going to attempt this with a 24" and 16" but the cast on for the sleeve is too short for my 16" so I think I'll hold off til I can find that size needle on a 8" cord.
Honestly my shorter needles are too long for the cast on as well, I just pull the cord out between stitches to make it work for the first 5 or so rounds until it fits. Or you can start out with double pointed needles and transfer to the circular needles when they will fit.
@@erinlizabethw yeah, I'm leaning that US 13 circulars do not come with any cord shorter than 16". Some ladies in my knitting fb group also suggested dpns or the magic loop when i mentioned my cord being too long. I'm most familiar with a crochet magic loop so when everyone kept saying magic loop, i found videos to learn. Oddly enough I've done that before but not knowing magic loop was a real term. I thought i was just being clever in getting past a tight section. Mostly with my hat crowns. I'm excited to try this pattern. I suck when it comes to garments but I'm facing my fears and discovering my potential😁
I’ve been looking for the lion yarn but the only kind I’ve been finding say that it is for 9mm needles is that what you have here but you use the 10mm needles with it?
Yes. The needle size on yarn is just a suggestion. Different needle sizes can be used as a choice to create the desired drape (how tight or flowy) you want a piece to have or to match the gauge when following a pattern. Everyone knits with slightly different tension so in order to follow a pattern and match the size you need to make sure your gauge is correct which might require adjusting needle sizes or contiously knitting tighter or looser.
Great vid!! I'm just starting off, and I'm wondering... How do you manage to start the sleeve in the round with so few stitches!? It feels so crammed. Particularly difficult to do the rib with so little space to work :S
I was just going to say you can work with DPNs! I honestly just stretched it for the first few rounds since it’s a pretty forgiving gauge anyways and once you’re like 5 rows in it fits on the short needles fine
Ok I'm on row 67 and i keep screwing up with my count. Do i do that row if I'm working on the large size? I say i do because it says for small size to skip or am i a nerd misreading and it should only be for small size? All of my row counts have worked out up to this row.
for the sleeves, what size needles did you use? I'm using smaller 10mm needles and the plastic part in the middle seems too long to join the sleeve in the round.
The ones I used were 13” I believe. For the first 4 rows the wire will absolutely be too long, you can just pull the wire between stitches as you make the first 4 or 5 rows work and after that it will fit! Don’t worry it will not affect your final result. You can also use double pointed needles if that is easier but I don’t personally find that to be the case
Is anyone else ending up with stripes that aren’t aligned? I’ve redone it almost four time now and have been very careful to make sure I start on a new row, but my stripes never align from front to back. Please help.
The stripe will never align perfectly in the back because you are working in the round. There isn’t a clear start and end to each row because the work is continuous. This is the reason the colour changes are in the back.
@@erinlizabethw My sweater seems to lean toward one side. I thought it might be because we had an uneven amount of stitches, but I’m not entirely sure. Is that something that can be blocked out? Thank you in advance!
@@ilovemusic333ilmusic I don’t know exactly what you mean by your sweater leaning to one side but my guess it that no you can’t just block it out and you’re probably doing more of one type of decrease than the other. If all of your decreases are right leaning (k2tog) and non left leaning (ssk) the sweater would start to lean. That’s all I can think of
@@erinlizabethw Hmm. I definitely followed the pattern so I have the same number of left and right leaning. I am left-handed though so maybe that plays a role. I bought the pattern and I’ve started to try but I’m stuck on one row. Row 12. I’m making a size Small. So the pattern would go K5, inc 1 repeat two more times. However...when I finish the row I’m left with 23 stitches when the next row calls for 24 knits. Basically I can’t finish the last inc on row 12 because there’s no yarn left on the left needle. hi! can i use smaller knitting needles? i'm finding the 10mm is really large and hard for me to use (I'm a beginner!) and what length are your circular knitting needles?
If you use smaller needles your sweater will end up smaller. If you need to use smaller needles I would suggest going with a pattern meant for smaller needles so that the gauge is correct
If you can match the gauge with 9mm then it will work, if not then it will turn out smaller than you expect but you can try it. You’ll need 18inch or smaller for the sleeves and for the body I use 30 inch

hi! can i use smaller knitting needles? i'm finding the 10mm is really large and hard for me to use (I'm a beginner!) and what length are your circular knitting needles?
If you use smaller needles your sweater will end up smaller. If you need to use smaller needles I would suggest going with a pattern meant for smaller needles so that the gauge is correct
@@erinlizabethw ok! what about 9mm needles would that be ok? and would you recommend 24 or 29 inch?
If you can match the gauge with 9mm then it will work, if not then it will turn out smaller than you expect but you can try it. You’ll need 18inch or smaller for the sleeves and for the body I use 30 inch
@@erinlizabethw thanks!!
