Damn, a month before he died
Louie r 2 weeks
Looks like a good date given this.
Not even
thanks for your extremely predictable comment
John Lennon in a interview said that himself & Yoko found it funny.
So that makes two people that thought it was funny.
@@marywealth6475 I did laugh once - oven cleaning tips 😂
Yeah; one of his last interviews December 6 1980
The biggest sharp jump in history was when Belushi and Akroyd left.
John's. Hair almost as dark. as. Yoko's?! WasNt. ThAt. IN Nov, 80? Not sure. John. Did. Say. In. Tervew. Funnny. Called. IT. MICKY. TAKING". ENGLISH. PHRASE
God... Originally broadcast 2 WEEKS before Lennon died !...
Wow!
I saw that in first run. Who could imagine what was about to happen? I can't imagine they rerun that skit, but I don't know.
john loved this skit
source?
@@joshiahayash ua-cam.com/video/vvx0cWpDTK8/v-deo.html
He did. He liked this and loved The Rutles, too. John was a great wit, and had a great sense of humor. At times, it was self deprecating. God, I miss him.
Love can be a strong word.
@@joshiahayash in one of the interviews he did in late 80, he said he thought it was pretty accurate and enjoyed it. Maybe the Playboy one.
Is that.... Malcolm McDowell.... playing.... Lennon?!
Little Alex, yep.
Later on his next film job would be the voice in the documentary film "The Compleat Beatles"
@@78zappaf my parents had that documentary on VHS but I havent seen it since I was very very young... he is the narrator?
Yes he is. Had a chance to get a Betamax of the doc to get signed by Malcom but chickened out. Hopefully will try again if possible.
@@marythomas1198 shutup butthole
Been looking for this for 40 years. Remember John saying he was loving It on one of his last interviews
“oH nO me CAkE. It’S RRRUIINED”
its funny seeing him try to do a Liverpool accent LOL
"just love songs and oven cleaning tips"
"OH no me cake Yoko!"
I'm crying 😆
He (Malcolm McDowell) is from Liverpool. That’s how he used to speak.
It sounds Scottish.
@@wink37 WRONG! MM is from Leeds not Liverpool
@@glitterdrip19Uh, no. He spent much of his childhood and teenage years in Liverpool. He even talks about seeing the Beatles at the Cavern.
@@wink37 but he's from and was born in Leeds
yoko look like Olivia Harrison
...
Sad to believe that less then a month later John wouldn't be with us anymore.
God REALLY?? Wow.
That was painfully unfunny.
It was season 6, that was the usual crap fished out.
Until Eddie Murphy...
Very true. I had to laugh to make it less awkward
Yoko is loco for my bank account
Well, John gladly gave the task to her, can you honestly imagine john lennon doing banking? And she did a good job at it, made lots of money for him.
@@isadoramenk8648 Lots of money is an understatement. She doubled their fortune with all her real estate dealings, art dealings, buying cattle and land…
@@isadoramenk8648 She wanted to divorce him. He didn't want to lose his money.
Guys, this is actually funny, you only judge it through the fact that he would die 2 weeks after.. Ok, humour is getting old, but it shows how their singular characters were percieved by the American people at the time... that's all folks
No, I havent seen it in 40+ years and it is no better now than at the time. This is the season after Lorne Michaels and the original cast left. It was painfully bad. Later in 1981 they started letting Eddie Murphy into some skits, Lorne returned but it is a wonder this season didnt get it cancelled.
This is about as funny as a burning orphanage. It's not offensive or anything and Lennon was fine with it, but they forgot to write some decent jokes for the skit and obviously thought that merely dressing them up was enough to make an American audience laugh.
Yoko is just Loco about my Cocoa, LOL.
Malcolm McDowell as John Lennon
Dennie dillion as yoko ono
Not bad a hilarious portrayal.
Yeah.
Hilarious.
Not.
I remember seeing this live
Then John was dead
Surreal
Weird that he looks like Mark chapman
If that’s Malcolm McDowell, then it’s strange that a fellow Brit would portray Lennon with an Irish brogue
Irish? No.
Sounded Scottish-ish.
I think this is how most Londoners would spoof a Liverpool accent.
That was Malcolm McDowell?
Sounds Mancunian to me. Definitely not Irish.
John and Paul almost made a unplanned cameo appearance after a Saturday Night offer of $3,000 for a Beatle reunion on their show. They decided against it at the last minute. That would have been a historical music event on SNL
There’s a film that depicts that exact moment, called “Two of Us” (2000)
Totally irrelevant to this video.
@@wheelinthesky300fun police 🚨
SnL probably felt pretty bad a few weeks after this aired.
why would they? john and yoko loved this skit, he said it himself.
"Yoko is loco about my coco" That's some really weak comedy writing.
This whole thing is
What writing?
It was SNL in 1980.
well I sure imagined Yoko that way
What a surreal thing this is, not even creepy, considering that Lennon said he enjoyed the skit in an interview from one of the links down below in this comments section (and that MacDowell, the Clockwork Orange guy, is playing him). Unfortunately that video's been removed, had to do it on the Wayback Machine.
This was probably one of the funniest moments of Season six.
Not exactly a high bar.
If this is the funniest part of an entire season, the whole season must have been unmitigated shyte.
Painfully unfunny
Just before the assasination.......!!!
This is not funny ....
Yeah, this was the worst season of SNL ever. I would have been cancelled if not for Eddie Murphy.
You can tell by the limited reactions from the audience.
This was made 1 month before John died
That wasn’t funny
The pre-saint Lennon.
Thats so true! To the press, before Dec 8th he was just a once witty ex beatle, and now grumpy hermit! After that day he was cannonized, He became a Martyr.
@@anthonyD2365 they were wrong either way
By this time, they were losing their audience to funnier shows like SCTV and Fridays.
SNL-humor is 20% good and 80% shit. This was in the 80% pile.
This is horrible to watch. Historic significance I guess, but damn, not cool.
The album is mainly love songs and oven cleaning tips - hilarious
Aired 11/22/80. They deserved better.
It’s crazy that Lennon was murdered not even a month later.
No it isn't.
There was a renewed spotlight on the Lennons when Double Fantasy was released.
This aired Nov. 22nd, 1980, the 17th anniversary of the JFK assassination and 2 weeks prior to John's. Someone said the real John and Yoko saw this and found it funny. That makes 2 people who thought so.
This is eerie looking at the date it aired😢
That couldn't possibly have been any less funny
I guess John Lennon was on the way out of the music game anyway, but it sucks he died so pointlessly. At least we still have Bowie..... wait..... WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Lennon had just released his first album in 5 years and was only 40. He was on his way back into the music game. Double Fantasy has some great tracks on it like Woman and Watching The Wheels.
He was actually planning a 1981 tour before he was murdered. Not out of the music game at all.
I am totally sure that had all 4 Beatles lived to be 80 there would have been a reunion in some form or fashion. If they weren't up to a new studio album and/or a tour, it probably would have been like the '95 TV reunion without John. Interviews, rarities, and a couple of new songs.
Definitely not SNL's best bit.
I just saw the date this aired.
I so wanted this to be funny. Oh well.
Fucking brilliant ...SNL used to be funny; who knew?
You mean before this?
This is really really bad and cringeworthy. Looks and sounds nothing like John and the comedy is non existent.
I wonder how they felt a month later
Is that what passed for humour back in the day? Even the crowd knew that was shockingly unfunny
shocking death of an icon....R.I.P. Charles Rocket
What the hell was that?
Painfully unfunny.
They were being really nice in this skit. Yoko isn’t half that pleasant.

That was the worst John and Yoko imitation EVER!!
This aired just two weeks before Lennon's death.
Wow. Just a few weeks before the tragedy.
No wonder this was the worst SNL crew ever.

John and Yoko liked this.
You are too fucking sensitive.
Oh yoko
Weird
I don't remember John Lennon being from Scotland
That’s how a lot of people from Liverpool sound
Yoko has what is called borderline personality disorder.
You were her doctor?
@@cactaceous no. But I was with one for years. Understand what you're saying though.
However, she meets the criteria.
@@Cjones322 She meets it if you are a narcissist who thinks you can diagnose a person you’ve never met. The irony is hilarious.

Looks like their personalities were a big joke "before " the murder. Before the myth started ??
Not a myth. People still mock them, anyway. Always have. Nothing's changed.
Typically horrible sketch from the Doumanian season. And why Does Lennon have a Brogue?
Well, I heard that John and Yoko themselves really liked it
Why does he speak with a Scottish accent?!
To me it sounds like Lennon

that was actually an Irish accent the actor playing John was doing
and not a British Liverpool accent. Just so you know. T
