      @@MeredithRyncarzPhotography I shoot Nikon as well and my 35mm f1.4 | 105mm f1.4 | 70-200mm f2.8 if I could only take 3 lenses. If it was only 1 lens the I can shoot a wedding with the 70-200.
      I can shoot virtually anything with those three though. I've added the 14-24mm & the 24-70mm was my 1st lens when I moved up to the D850 two years ago.
      Thanks for the info, good to watch, and always great to learn. Well done video. 😊
      Question...the sticker you have on the hoods and back lens caps, very cool! Are those custom ordered or readily available?

    • @MeredithRyncarzPhotography
      @MeredithRyncarzPhotography  3 роки тому +2

      @@SpawningFish that is a great question. They actually aren't stickers. In hindsight, I should have explained that in the video. The 70-200 is one of my husband's personal favorites as well and we pull it out at every wedding. My personal fav three are the 85mm and 35mm 1.4 and the 105mm 1.4. I shoot all of my weddings with those three lenses usually.
      The back lens caps are custom and we got them from www.lenzbuddy.com/. We have used them for years and we found it is easier to organize lenses at weddings with these. Hope that helps. Thank you again for stopping by.

    I mainly shoot with 35mm 1.8 and 105mm 1.4. I love the 85 but I was always wanting a little more compression so sold it. If I have enough room I might do 50/105 combo (stepping back some with the 50). I might opt for a 24 one day instead of the 35. Then have a 24/50/105. That dang 35 is just so versatile tho. My favourite wedding lense is probably the 85mm 😊 like you said, it’s great for the reception! I do love my 70-200mm for the ceremony, my alone complaint is that I wish it was possible to get a f1.4 70-200! Sometimes churches can be very dimly lit

      In general most zoom lenses don't go below 2.8 just because of how they function and operate. It would be nice one day for them to go to 1.4 but i fear of how much that would weigh or how large it would be. But we cal always strive.

    thx for the grate content ,im really stuck on what to get next ,i do agree on good glass ,im finding it hard to chose between getting strobs or getting glass ,im curently use flash sb 910 my walk around lens is 16-85 iv had it for years but deffentlly needs to be replaced , having speed lights find not powerfull enough when in in strong back light condisions ,for me really hard to decide which to get first ,i agree buying twice is the worst thing to do ,i have a d500 and z6 and z50 ,love my 70 -200 2.8 vr2 on my z6 or d500 ,i so enjoy that look and feel of the photos

    • @MeredithRyncarzPhotography
      @MeredithRyncarzPhotography  3 роки тому

      Anthony, this is a great question. I would definitely go with the glass upgrade first. You can actually do impressive lighting with just speed-lights which are really cheap. We only upgraded to professional strobes when it was a necessity. No matter how good your strobes are, if your glass is bad then the picture won't turn out well. I wish we would have done this, because I would have avoided buying lenses twice ($$$$).
      Another suggestion for your speed lights is to using modifiers such as a soft box or umbrella. This helps to diffuse the light and create a "larger" light source that will give you a better and more natural light. This will allow you to use a cheaper light source without having to upgrade. Hope this helps.

    I learned a lot about photography. I didn't realize that a 35mm lens was great for landscape. I appreciate you teaching about the different uses for each lens. It was interesting to learn that the larger the number, the more detail the picture was going to be.

    • @MeredithRyncarzPhotography
      @MeredithRyncarzPhotography  4 роки тому

      I am so glad you learned a little something. Generally the lower the number, the wider your field of view for a lens. One of the best lenses for landscape (not covered in this video) is the Nikon 14-24. It produces stunning landscape portraits and is considered a standard lens for landscape photographers. Let me know if you have any more questions.

      Wedding preparations should be slow moving. I would check lens calibration on that and make sure your shutter speed is high enough. Even at the risk of higher ISO. For walking/ leaving church I would shoot burst. Even then I would over shoot. Sounds like you have the lens you need.

    Wedding photographers differ in their choice of lenses. I sold my 70-200 f2.8, it’s too big and heavy for those long wedding days. I bought a 135 f2. I shoot with 2 cameras on a dual camera strap. For wedding ceremonies one has a 24-70 f2.8 and the other has either a 85 or my 135. For receptions it’s usually the 24-70 and 85. I’m done with huge and heavy 70-200 f2.8 zooms. I also have a 50 f1.4 and a 24-120 f4 for emergencies.

      @@MeredithRyncarzPhotography I use the 300 more for landscapes and wild life.
      I had the 35 Art, I agree the tamron is better and deserve the extra price (the f1.4G is just...to forget 😅).
      Personal use, I have old MF lenses, the viewfinder of the D850 is such a pleasure and the focus peaking in liveview is really helpful.
