This is such an awful and toxic lesson to be had. This is how over the years, millions of children have been molested by supposed friends and relatives because being honest and making people accountable was frowned upon. I can't believe you would just tell your child to be silent even if they see or hear something they know is wrong.
Which came first- the episode where Cindy tattles on Alice for hugging the postman, or the episode where all the kids think Alice is squealing on them? One may be a revenge.
The Tattletale, the one where Cindy tattles to Sam about Alice hugging the postman was in Season 2. The episode Goodbye, Alice Hello where the kids accused her of squealing on them was in Season 4.
A Similar thing happened in The Old School Sweet Valley High Books. Cara Walker told Elizabeth Wakefield that her Boyfriend at the time Jeffrey French was making out with a Fellow Classmate named Olivia. It wasn't true, what had happened was that Olivia had something stuck in her eye and Jeffrey was trying to get it out.
I actually think this is one of the most ridiculous episodes ever. Cindy asked Mike if somebody wanted to know where Mommy was, should she tell them? He laughed and said yes. Then he told her- no more tattling. But Sam asked where Alice was- and she told him. What's the difference? Shoot, in the beginning of the episode, Mike asked why the salt was unscrewed. Cindy told him why. And he got angry with her for answering his question... Such a bizarre predicament for ANYBODY!!
To be fair they probably figured she understood exactly what she was doing since when she tattled on bobby that one seemed intentional even so I thought they were being harsh like how carol sternly told Cindy to nevermind about their dog when she was just asking a question and was probably afraid that would be her punishment but I must say Cindy handled this very maturely in the next scene she could have gone to Marcia and Jan and complained about Mike and carol being mean but she didn't even though it seems like her parents had to use threatening to punish her as a last resort together to stop tattling
When she told Sam that she was hugging the postman he thought 💭 she was having an affair. What Cinda saw was a misunderstanding. She was giving him a hug because she won the prize. What? Have you ever hug someone when your happy bout something?
She acknowledged that in Barry Williams Book "Growing Up Brady aka I Was A Teenage Greg". I sometimes wonder about the Little Girl who played Sally Frame on Another World in the 1970's. She was so sassy and rude, My Grandmother would say "She needs to get her butt whipped!" but she was so good at being bad. Kind of like Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson) on Little House on The Prairie.
She got alot of "Shade" by her Classmates because they thought she was a Real Life Tattletale. If it were today, they could have played Whodini's Big Mouth.

But I think we now know what happened to Tiger. A Marcia scorned....
Mr. Brady: "It's time for a little one-sided discussion. Cindy, you've done a very bad thing with your tattling."
Cindy: "Yes, Daddy."
Mr. Brady: "SHUT UP!!!"
Rude mr. Brady 😡
Cindy was really gossiping over tattling but still she shouldn’t be doing that either
Susan said she got a lot of crap at school from the kids from this episode they. Thought she was gonna tell on them
They didn't understand that Susan was not Cindy and assumed that Susan was like her character.
"Mom, did I ever tell you where dad's been sneaking off to in the night?"
she says (the actress) got shunned by her peers after this episode aired...like today, people think TV is real life
TV is not real life.
@@joeyjolley3540 To some folks it's real life. Look at The Actors/Actresses on Soap Operas UK/US. They would go out in public and fans would scream at them for their bad behavior. Also remember she would threatened to open her Big Mouth when she saw Millicent Kissing Bobby, or even snooping when reading about Marcia's Diary. If I did that I would have gotten the Belt.
@@laminage Sometimes you do have to tell on someone but you don't do what Cindy did. In season 3's episode Big Little Man when Bobby feels down because he's short Cindy says "Is it tattling when you don't want anyone to know something?" Mike replies "Yes it is." Cindy replies "Then you're just going have to learn for yourselves." Jan asks "What?" and Cindy says "That Bobby almost fell off the house." and you see Mike start to get peeved and you see Carol and Jan think "Oh my god!"
She mentioned in a commentary episode, the kids who didn't know her would give her grief about this or whatever Cindy did. But the kids who did know her would say "That's no Susan, that's Cindy,"
Are we just gonna ignore the Mrs Brady "hugging the post man" comment?? 😭
When Carol Brady did not want Cindy to switch the subject and when she said to Cindy "Never Mind about Tiger remember what your father told you." and when Mike said to Cindy "Oh yeah, I'd like to believe that" You can tell Mike and Carol were very firm and furious with Cindy because she created a misunderstanding between Alice and Sam and not to mention the many times in this episode when Cindy was tattling on the others in this episode.
Cindy: "Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!" Lmao
Actually, Maria! Marcia! Marcia! was Jan's quote.
Funny how Mike's shirt doesn't match his pants.
Cindy told him
So that's where Tiger went--SIBERIA!!!
At least his Brady career lasted longer than Fluffy the cat!
I heard that he was hit by a car, and they did not want to replace him.
@@PatriciaLLogan On Wikipedia it says that he was hit by a car on the lot soon after the show began. So he was only in a few episodes. They did replace him but the new dog was hard to handle so he was off after the second season.
@@nassauguy48 I the the grandparents took Fluffy because Tiger chased her!
Heres a question I have was it tattling when I saw a mentally disabled girl from the care home I lived at about to go into the street? I had gone in the house an interrupted the Staff meeting to tell them Um Shes about to into the road they all got up and grabbed her wheelchair before she could do it She is unable to talk but she kept kicking and screaming yelling ow (to her it means no) she has the habit of trying to sneak away when nobodys around then another time I caught her putting toys in her mouth (she plays with toys because its all she knows how to do) Staff took the toy out and told her no thats not food at the time I wasnt trying to snitch but I was worried she might get hurt
Alice got busted, she’d been getting it from the postman for years, Sam the butcher couldn’t get the job done. End of story.
what did Alice win again????
I just picked up on that seeing it for the first time, she definitely sounds like she is saying a certain word.
a turn table she puts it in the family room (the record player by the sofa you may see from time to time.)
@@TheKippykangaroo The biggest irony is that I think it was the Turntable that was featured in an Episode where The Kids were nasty towards Alice. Robert Reed didn't want to do this Episode saying that as far as he was concerned, the Kids would never act that way towards her. Marcia had forgotten to take her Record off, and turn it off and got hollered at and Carol said she couldn't play it for Two Weeks. Instead of taking responsibility she "blamed" Alice who only told the truth.
@@laminage
you're right that did happen and if I were Alice I would have told Marcia "stay in your place little girl"
"stay in your place"
hot dogs
Cindy repeats this mistake in several episodes. Tattling, snitching, not keeping secrets, she has no filter at all.
I know like when she asked me if it's tattleting if tell what someone doesn't want you to know in this is the episode where she said Bobby nearly fell off the house 😅
So a normal female....
It was Jan's fault no matter what happened. Cindy and Marsha should get a present.
0:24 what did she win ? and should she be saying that word in front of Cindy ?
CLASSIC what word
Yeah, what word?
I thought Tiger disappeared after the first season, but here it was the second season.
Tiger was in a few of season two's episodes, then, was written off w/o any explanation.
Would everyone agree, this is Sam the butchers fault? Why would be cancel a date with his girl based on a little girl what a little kid is telling him... embarrassing..
Sam don't play no shit!!!
Besides, Cindy was telling the truth. Alice WAS hugging the postman. What's your point?
*Small Fry's* point was that it was Sam's fault. You confirmed it by pointing out that Cindy was being truthful and honestly told of what she saw. Thus, it was Sam who took it the wrong way and punished Alice for it.
He took it wrong! What's next - ike Turner? eyes down ' dontchu smile at nobody male - STAY Down ? Sheeesh !!! If you dont respect t your goid mate's good character u dont Deservr them. !
@@musicaltheatergeek79I wonder what the conversation was Carol explained to clear things up between sam and Alice when she explained what her daughter saw or if alice was mad at cindy
@@ddl4374when Carol came back after calling sam back I wonder what went on she sounded like she was ready to scold cindy and she and Mike just crossed their arms when cindy confirmed Mike was firm I'll never understand being a parent
This is such an awful and toxic lesson to be had. This is how over the years, millions of children have been molested by supposed friends and relatives because being honest and making people accountable was frowned upon. I can't believe you would just tell your child to be silent even if they see or hear something they know is wrong.
Well, for big things, yea. But did you tattle on EVERY little thing when you were a kid? I doubt if you had any friends when you were a kid.
I was thinking the same thing as I watched this. Not a good message for kids.
🤦🏽♀️
The Brady Bunch is great show.
I will agree to that. I really enjoy it!
Something similar happened in the movie!
+Streatham Soprano Yes this was spoofed in the 1995 Brady Bunch Movie.
Kids tattle they can’t force them to stop, It’s natural for kids to tattle. You just can’t keep guilt inside it’s not healthy
Barney Sam Hefner, believing a second-grader! 😂😂 Now he's at Archie Bunker's Place on his 9th cocktail! 🍸🍹
Flip Wilson!!!!! LMAO!!!!!
????
My Dad used to threaten to box me up and ship me off. It's not funny to a 3 year old.
The Brady kids were good kids but they did make mistakes.
So for being honest she gets in trouble because the guys jealous. FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Bad parenting
When I got to this video, it said it may be inappropriate and asked if I wished to proceed. I wonder why? This video seems quite safe.
Not sure why the Brady Bunch is a rated show on youtube or is it elsewhere too?
I don't know how Cindy could've known not to tell Sam Alice was hugging the mailman.
Her character wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
Don't do that. You wouldn't like it if someone did that to you, would you?
Oh, no. That's no fun.
Then why do you do it to them?
Because that is fun.
I used to work with a group of adults who tattled on others...they were immature and crazy
..
ANN B DAVIS 1926_2014 REST IN PEACE 💔😭
You said these were full episodes. No full episodes here. Clickbait.
After tiger ran off with marshes paper Marshall should have run after him
You mean M-A-R-C-I-A. Her name is Marcia.
0:05 really ? Kiss goodnight ?
Susan Olson said she hated this episode.
+RM Wilson Why?
+7beers Because people thought she was that for real.
+RM Wilson Yes thats right her friends didnt know what is fiction or reality and thought that Susan was a tattletale in real life.
Because she hated playing scenes where she had to act less mature than she though she was in real life.
She got alot of "Shade" by her Classmates because they thought she was a Real Life Tattletale. If it were today, they could have played Whodini's Big Mouth.
We all tattled at some point. Yeh its hard when ya have no filter what should be said or not. Yeh this were days when parents commanded respect fr om there kids. cindy looks scared Mike gonna punish cindy well since it had to be clean for tv he could not say i am gonna whack your butt hard if i catch ya tattling again. Cindy his stepdaughter in well the real word might have stood up and have said your not my real daddy and you can not tell me what to do. Gonna running to mommy saying lies lol. Still love the show yeh some of stuff i hear my own parents say.
Since when is telling the truth tatteling?
