next time hold your rod tip higher in the air when fighting a fish and when the fish is pulling drag just let it do its thing, as soon as the fish stops pulling drag you start to reel agin
Respectfully disagree. What will happen to you if someone will push your head in to the water against your wish? You'll fight it and grab the air with your mouth trying to survive. For same reason majority keep their tips up bringing fish to the surface. That makes fish more "agitated" and go all over the place. In which case there are more chances it may go off the hook, break your line or your rod. That's' why I always prefer to drag the fish out SIDEWAY, holding the rod TIP DOWN keeping the fish as deep IN the WATER as possible. This way you let your fish SWIM to you in more calm and controlled manner.
@@FishTheNorth next time man, take ur time, let the fish do its thing and figure out before hand where you wanna plan to land the fish... it'll come man lol and keep the rod bent at all times.. not straight lol
Hey, I was using a 9ft medium heavy rod, the brand is Shimano. 9ft rod is a good length and medium heavy to be able to launch the lure far out. Any brand should work 👍
@@harveyheath9608 what weight is easier? I tossed a 3/5 oz little Cleo but it didn't go as far. The 9/10 oz just made it just a little further, not much of a difference tbh 🤣
@@FishTheNorth in the wind I'd suggest 3/4, still enough weight to load your rod but its a smaller profile and won't catch as much wind! Its all about experimenting to find what ya like for certain situations.🤙
What a failure. You need lessons on reeling in a fish, netting a fish, fighting a fish, using a fishing reel, using a net and gosh man when you net a fish don't do it the way you did and net half the fish and it slide out and your lure hooks the net and bye bye fishy. We have all been there.

That was a nice one! I have been trying at Toronto lakeshore this week and no luck yet.
Wait till it rains, you'll get one!
Let him run and stop reeling when he bolts
What weight was your spoon, 3/4 oz? Nice catch, almost got him in the net! You'll get 'em next time (:
Hahah definitely need a bigger net for salmon! It was a 9/10 oz weight, super windy to throw anything lighter that day.
@@FishTheNorth I'm looking for a larger net myself lol, gunna try and go for salmon on the pier. Thanks for the reply
@@FishTheNorth lighter spoons are easier to cast in the wind lol.

My guy first let him run and baby the fish by gently angling him to the shore.
Somebody teach him how to reel when fishing on the hook
Good lord, if the fish is running your not reeling. You dont want to point the rod at him either. The toilet at the end, lol
