This is awesome - I've been feeling daunted, having just ordered the PCBs today, but now I can't wait to get ordering all the little components tomorrow. Thanks for your work here!
Darren what a fantastic instructional video, you have inspired me to revisit my project as we have been in lockdown for so long in Melbourne. Really appreciate your dedication to this project
Nice job Darren, correct order of components, and so many tips. Thankyou for doing this video - it is extremely helpful to the AgOpenGPS Project. I really tried when designing to use similar components like 2 sizes of resistors/caps etc. I'm working on version 3 of the board - any tips to make it easier to assemble? The LED is a poorly marked symbol for sure. The voltage reg symbol is for a non switching type linear 7805, it has a metal tab on the back so the picture is more obvious. You can use hot melt glue to keep stuff from wiggling on the board while driving - especially the mma. It won't hurt the components, but really helps with mechanical rigidity. Farmers Helping Farmers - Ya!!!!!
Thanks Brian, and many thanks once again for all the time going into this project, it just gets better and better by the day, and as I have just wrote in a comment below, despite having already got most of the hardware required for a commercial solution, it still makes no financial sense to me, and would still not have all the features AOG has already, never-mind in the future! Have replied to post on forum with few ideas. The hot glue was going to be my fix for the MMA, although I think thats going to be back up only anyway, as thinking of running a pair of Ardusimples left / right on the roof, to give me roll, and also accurate / fast heading corrections....
Thank you for taking the time to male this tutorial. I have watched it sooo many times while assemblying my auto steer box. As they say the devil is in the details and you covered them. Being a true novice at this I think it is fair to say I couldn't have done it without your generosity. Now on to building yhe RTK base station, the steering angle sensor, steering wheel motor bracket and getting them all to tal to each other.....How hard could it be?
Hi Darren, great to see you with your camera back out. Hope you can find time to film the process of fitting it up to the tractor, the fitting of the steering angle sensor and hydraulic valve as well. Have had a Trimble system here for just over a year now with no auto steer and already wish it had it fitted. On the subject of a building wish I could help but can’t, have just had a quote to put up a extension off of an existing shed at 9m by14m and 5m to the eaves came in at £25,000. Have not made a decision yet. Anyway cheers for the content.
Was always quite content with manually steering the tractor, but after my first season with AutoTrac in the combine (new machine already had the valve and controller etc on it)....I have realised what a joy it is / how life changing it is! Its actually quite ironic that despite me already have a Deere display, and activation, and GPS receiver (SF3000), it would still cost an absolutely ridiculous sum of moneys to give add full hydraulic autosteer to the tractor AND have full section control...activations / hardware etc all adds up insanely....and I'm just not really a fan of the wheel motor solution, so would rather keep the tractor on my own hardware and with AgOpenGPS which is just getting better and better by the day! If people would be interested I could definitely video the project as I continue....Anyone else interested in this?
@@darrenjlobb Yes I would be interested in this also I would like to know how your are going to connect up the starfire 3000 module to your board. Also this is one of the better videos on how this stuff works.
Hi Darren definitely interested in more videos on your install. I'm also a farmer in cornwall. With a keen interest in gps. I own my own jd system. But would be interested in a cheaper system for other tractors on the farm

Wish I found this video at the begining, really great for step by step
Glad it was helpfull.

1st video of the new year 😀, hopefully more regular videos 😀

Darren Lobb completely agree on the choice of the hydraulic valve, much more elegant solution in my mind.
@@darrenjlobb please do continue to film this project as it develops. I won't pretend to understand all of it, but it is fascinating stuff.

Welcome back
Very impressive.
Have you guys stopped the field car vids??
Can I fit this to my van and have it autosteer the m5?
Hi where can I find the arduino AutosteerPCBv2 firmware? Thank you
On the AgOpenGPS Board repo on github :)
