3.4 million and finished inside like a camper van? Sorry, no sale.
I can't wait to see the Silent 80 or the Silent 120 Explorer. Great video as always, keep it up.
Absolutely love these solar katamrans.....beautiful 😍
Other than removing any and all 90* sharp corners I like this quite a bit, would like to know how it handles in rough seas.
There were enough of them in obviously bad places - like at the helm, that I'm left questioning the design as a whole. The bathrooms and showers were odd choices too.
I agree, you could really get bashed about in rough seas.. it all looks like cheap veneer too, I love the silent concept, but the interior designs really lack style for the ticket price on the whole range.
Excellent observation. Round corners definitely a must.
They aren't designed for open ocean traveling. Designed to be in a Marina or short trip to a near Island.
@@chippyjohn1 All boats get rocky, even in a marina.
She’s a beauty, thanks as always for sharing Nick and congrats on 400K!!!
5 knots, don't wear a Capiains hat on this speed demon...Nothing like cruising Puget Sound going backwards...LIVING THE DREAM!
I can't wait for fully depreciated electric catamarans to be. It's the ultimate liveaboard retirement plan. Very low operation cost, spacious, stable, and within reach for most people once depreciated. Life goal right there!
Just amazing.. totally the way to go.
400k! CHEERS NICK! Many blessing for you and your family Nick
cant wait to see the sea trial video. im intrigued by the electric boating!
I was waiting for this video almost a year. Thanks a lot!!!
Impressive. Also impressive that you're on full display while using the head of the two port side cabins XD.
These Silent boats are the Biz, ok there's no 20+ kntts but it's horses for courses, and also no 500 litres of diesel per hour also, and the maintenance is much reduced, water makers , hull maintenance, zincs and the haul out but the name of the game is battery Harvesting and watch the Sun more than the Wind forecast to minimise the use of the Generator and also taking into consideration the Sail / kite if fitted. top product as ever waiting for tonights Lottery. Numbers. laters !
There's also a tri-deck version (Silent 62) with the master cabin instead of the flybridge... that's the version for me!!
Beautiful boat. I could live there. 😎
The set up for the en-suites for cabins 3 & 4 is a bit odd. Sight lines straight through the showers to the loos. Seems a bit odd when simple frosted glass would have provided a modicum of privacy when in use.
The math says that's about 30 miles per day on electric with full sun. That would be perfect if it was a motor-sailer. But it isn't. This would be fine as a solar boat on a reservoir, or perhaps on the Great Lakes. But on the ocean it's simply a powerboat running off a big generator that uses a lot of fuel and has plenty ofextra quiet electricity for the appliances and stereo.
Gracias, muy bonito!!!🥰
Quite basic but I like it. Thanks Nick
Amazing! Just curious if you can actually still see the toilet with the doors closed right through the shower glass?
Very impressive yacht Nick great tour 👍
I basically would like to have the luxury of a galleon with the technology of a silent 60
The difference in space by adding 5 feet is incredible! Though I liked the door on the front of the 55, that master cabin is fantastic. I think the overall layout is nicer.
Looking forward to the test run now
there's the option for the same on the 60 and honestly I don't think that master is worth it. If it weren't for the massive main deck it would make for a great quiet lounge but having direct access to the front (especially when running the kite sail or entertaining) is just too much to pass up on when the alternative is walking around the whole ship. It's still a dream of a ship and the ability to replace the flybridge with what amounts to another deck (open, closed or owners cabin) just makes it all the more enticing
this would be the dream... i would live in it
Are they looking at replacing the lithium ion battery with the sodium battery? And are they looking at multi spectrum solar panels?
My dream boat!!
Looks amazing 👏 but the house you can buy for that kind of money is 100x more impressive
If you want to buy a house, you're far better off buying a house. They're not so good if you wanted a boat though...
would love you to review the silent 120, when it comes out!! :D
I would feel like James T Kirk on USS Enterprise
Will you get to tour the 120 when it comes out?
8:31 I think they’d be called accelerator levers now, as there isn’t a physical throttle anymore!
Glad to see plenty of Victron Energy tech on board, nothing else beats it for price/performance. Any clue what the battery tech is? LFE/Li-Ion....? I'm guessing LFE (LiFeP04) given the warranty life of 8-10 years to 80% remaining capacity.
Great concept
Let down by the interior for the price
If it didn’t look like a sailboat with interior design by IKEA, I would be a little more interested. The sharp edges are unacceptable. They need an experienced boater to help with the interior. Thanks for the tour Nick.
didn't really like the 55... but this 60 is immense! I love it :D
Well done nick once again
How much $ is the Silent 80 ?
Do they only come in white, or can they come in other colors too (pink / blue / black ?)
I didn’t think the master cabin was all that great, neither the smaller ones too. Where there no big screen tv on the boat?
So much space! The master is huge. Do any of those have crew cabins?
Beautifully appointed boat. Huge interior. Great deck space. Really fascinating and I can’t wait to see you out on it Nick.
Whats the range at 5 or 10 on a battery charge? Just wondering how far you could push it in a day. Man its a cool boat. What kind of seas can it handle also?
Not an engine I (unless that's a UK thing); its a motor otherwise. It would be interesting to compare the HH45 hybrid (diesel/electric) to this yacht.
No outside grill?
Awesome
Strange one. Mostly for the people which are afraid of sun. Not one single place on 55 for sunbathing. Must be a record.......
so am I right in saying that with a full battery 200kw,Sailing at 7 knots consuming 9kw per hour you have 20 hours of sailing off a full charge?
Normaly you see big engines from Volvo or Cat with big exhaust where you need a master bethroom of space. But know you only need a small crew space. Imagine when you are running on hydrogen. (H2) Than you can go out for a 1000miles range or more.
Does the boat have a last ditch gas or diesel generator to provide hotel and emergency power or even a limp-home ability?
Generator ... yes :-)
Wow
I love this boat but I struggle to see how it justifies its price. The profit margin must be huge.
I love the company and the CEO, but it kills me to see these bland interiors for the eye-popping price. That's where Sunreef shines.
Agreed. Sunreef is light years ahead on interior quality and design. Especially for the $$$
I just have one question Nick. How did all that food in the galley survive your tour???? LOL. Great boat.
I was waiting for a close up lol
Me wishing to know the recipe for those food
It's called sea-mless
i must say this is one of the premier channels on youtube. loads of interesting information. not overproduced with long intros and loud music, instead offering a quick welcome and then sharply delving into the content (while still providing sponsors a chance to get shown). lovely and mesmerizing voicework and enthusiasm by Nick. 12 stars out of 5 sir!
Thank you! 😃
Those motors take up so little space when compared to a traditional diesel engine.
Great tour - thanks
The batteries probably take up any space that was saved, but at least you put those elsewhere.
@@nottelling7785 the truck seems to be to sandwich the batteries between the floors which is dead space really anyway. I do wonder how long they last and will it be a million euros to replace them.
@@nothingsurprisesmeanymore "the truck seems to be to sandwich"
What?
I think they still have an option for a generator, which I think is necessary, in case of consistent bad/cloudy weather. The generator would then run the motors at low speed and charge the batteries.
@@nottelling7785 *trick
The space is impressive Nick.. I love the Master Suite and would go with that everytime over the walk through. What a boat, it's basically a home from home. Stunning. Looking forward to your next video when you take it out to sea.
I checked out the other versions on their website, the forward access version just has so many benefits over that (in my opinion) excessive cabin. The helm gets moved farther forward, you get what looks like a sun pad across from it (or maybe a double/queen bed equivalent) along with a rear cabin I'd love to convert to either a small workshop, remote office or quiet lounge (with a day head since that annoyingly seems to vanish on the other version)
Still a beautiful ship but creating a day head would be a requirement in my books.
@@KMCA779 There should be a desk, or a workbench was exactly my first thought, when i saw the video with the longer cabin. 😊
Magnificent boat. I've seen the forward walk-through, and it would be my preference - being able to get straight onto the foredeck is fantastic. Looking forward to your Silent Running video - not in a Bruce Dern way, though.
I'd be worried if the boat was named Valley Forge...
I haven't seen it in person or a video tour, only the website. Did they do something about the walkthrough not having a day head?
Last year they were $2.5 million... now this video says $3.5 million? How did the 60 go up $1 million? Nice yacht, the future... but $3.5 million?
Love how the toilet has a solid door so you can only see someone through the massive glass shower . Great boat though!
I really hope silent yachts brings you to tour more boats, I would love to see the 80' tri-deck as well as the 120, when it's available
4:03 this is wrong, it's not 210 Kilowatts of batteries, it's 210 Kilowatt-hours. Completely different unit. Please get your facts straight.
WOW!!! 😀😊☺ I JUST LOVE IT. HOW GOOD WOOD IT BE TO CRUISE AT FIVE KNOTS SELF SUFFICIENTLY, THATS A METAPHOR FOR THE SPEED MY LIFE WILL GO IN RETIREMENT HAHAHA....😀😀😀 JUST PERFECT JUST ROMANTIC....
I really like the conception of electric catamarans - covering so little surface means that smaller engines can do the job just as well, reducing the needed space, while, being electric, allows even and clever distribution of the power which further frees up space. It is a really practical, smart and efficient, many people will love this.
But, and this is a big but - I do not believe we are there yet. Batteries, while getting constantly cheaper and easier to acquire, are still the weakest link. They quickly degrade, even when not in use, and are under the constant risk of failure. The batteries on a brand new boat will allow you to travel the world, but, what about after 2 years? 3 years? And they are not so easily replaceable. Same goes for the solar panels, which, not only are a target of degradation, but are also out there and are under the risk of being damaged by hailstorms and heavy weather.
Still, lets finish this on a brighter note - tech is constantly getting better, new types of batteries are being tested and perfected, which are going to boost electrical far ahead, so, given few years, the concept of electrical catamarans could actually become the preferred one once long life is assured as a quality.
Whitin video years we have solide state accu's. Problem solved. But personaly I think whitin ten years this kind of boats wil run on hydrogen.
Love this, ever won the lottery I’d be ordering one of these for the family and go….. be a tough one as I love the Fleming but Zero running costs is a great option….
Great tour Nick, looking forward to the on water experience and congratulations on the 400k mark 👍🏻 👏
Thank you! 🙂
Seeing that electric motor being as small as it is with the amount of power it produces it’s truly amazing. Power density.
Once batteries achieve an energy density equivalent to a full tank of diesel we will see this kind of propulsion setup becoming the norm and not the exception.
@@rajeevmasilamony8395 It may not be too far into the future.
@@rajeevmasilamony8395 We're 2% there with lithium-ion batteries! (45Mj/kg for diesel vs 0.9Mj/kg for batteries)
@@karld1571 yup.
@@karld1571 The figure is not qiuite as bad when you consider the mass of the whole propulsion system rather than just the batteries. The motor/gearbox etc in an electric system are many times smaller and lighter than conventional propulsion.
After watching these videos, I've officially created a playlist called "things to buy after getting filthy rich"
I know this is supposed to be green and we are to care for the environment, but it was to formulated and blocky, but o guess that’s the trade off for being green.
Ahh this is my favorite silent, so glad you did this tour. I’m defiantly watching the episode of you taking it out 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
I like, that you are always saying "take care" at the end of your boat-tours... you must be a very empathic person, Nick!!!
I try very hard to get excited about a solar powered vessel, but it just is not happening. At 5 knts I would go 🤪. Even 8-10 knts would bother me knowing I was going flat out. Nice review though!
It's the kind of speed many sailboats cruise at, and they have to zig zag sometimes!
Go on , Nick, grab a canape from the galley !
When will they let someone, ANYONE on the Silent 80 for the love of God...
Coverage on the Silent 80 onboard ANYWHERE is nonexistent, its actually kind of annoying tbh.
The doors to the toilet on cabins 3 and 4 seem a bit pointless when you can still look at it through two walls of a glass shower.
It's just to keep the smells out after one has a big one...
depends what you've been eating... commenting for a friend :)
XD that’s still only 240 nm of range, and it’ll take you two days to cover it. After that you’re down to 60nm a day, and no cabin power at night. That’s assuming perfect conditions.
I suppose these boats spend most of their time in the marina, as do most yachts I’m sure. Maybe I just don’t understand the use case.
Ocean capable apparently www.silent-yachts.com/silent60/
Great video of a great yacht Nick.
This makes me think you had this one ready when the 55 was posted.
Thank you for your work.
Mebbe... 🙂
the very first video I watched on Aquaholic was the torqeedo review years ago, have been an avid viewer from then on and have been loving the electric boat content. I've since converted my sailboat and tender to electric and haven't looked back. cheers for the videos!
Awesome! I need to do more Torqeedo videos...
do they offer an wind generator as an option?
Fantastic Video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 How is the electrical Range oft This Beauty?
FINALLY A SILENT YACHT 👍👍
If I win the lottery silent yacht will be my 3 call
Mercedes to get an SLS
Princess to get a X95
Then silent to get an 80
Thanks you Nick 👍
Hi Nick another great Boat tour, looking forward to the 60 sea trial, thanks to Boris the ( insert your favourite word here ) my 40 years of planning to live on Corfu have been somewhat scuppered, but this might be the answer, had fallen in love with the wally why 200 but this looks just as much fun but without the running costs and a meter less draught. Just need to Spank the Euro millions tonight before placing my order 🙂
love your work! have a question... are all catamarans clad in blond wood? have you seen diferent? what mfgr, Thanks, Tom
That's it! I'm selling my house and 2 cars and going deep into debt. This should be enough to put a BIG smile on my face. All that's missing is *a little* bit of that "Princess-quality" look inside, it looks kinda... plain?.. I'm digressing.. Cheers!
Hello. Have a safe blessed night! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The bathrooms are a little weird. In the final bathroom the person sitting on the toilet can make direct eye contact with someone laying in the bed.
Was wondering that myself!
I HATE to be negative as it’s a fabulous boat with great tech but I just feel that the space is not well configured. As you said Nick layout options are available so I’m sure that would fix my ‘too much space’ issue! 🤪🤷🏼♂️
This is a freaking full size house. Basically you have everything, and can literally go everywhere (by sea).
OMG Nick, congratulations on 400k subscribers ❤️
Great technology, but it seems that’s where attention to detail ends. The fit and finish looks cheap. And why did the designers put a mausoleum-like structure in the starboard side of the salon? Very poor! Compare with Azimut magellano 66
Curious, What kind of Tender do they use? Electric also? How would you charge that?
Those aren’t engines they’re motors. A motor is electrical an engine is internal combustion. I’m not being technical nor am I being critical; some people hear engine and might wonder about the fuel tank and vessel range.
I’ll add that I enjoy watching the boat/yacht tours you show.
Heyyyy…. I have the exact same Espresso maker! Excellent choice.
Shame I don’t have the exact same yacht haha
I love the concept but I am terrified that for 3.4 million there isn't a complete Class C fire extinguisher system built in over each of those battery bank systems. Electrical Fires can only be handled safely through Class C's and these yachts have tons of space where air can get to those batteries. That's such a huge risk for me that I'd warrant how these can even be built and sold without them. It's like the seatbelt of electrical engineering.
Well Nick, did you just give us another interesting tour and showed us the future as far as smaller yachts are concerned? I wouldn't be surprised if you just did. Great job (as usual)!
About £30 to charge it up. Hold on, the electic price went up. £60 to charge it up. Still not bad.
Neeh.. its not my cup of tea. That front cabin i would loose. second: What i dont like is the huuuuuge plateau at the right side of the salon. What a waste.. what to do with that? put a tv on it or so? and still a lot of m2 left. Im not so impressed with this boat. How can you steer from the flybridge.. all you see is xxx m2 of solars. Nope i pass.
Well i couldn't afford the 55, so i guess i may as well fantasise about the 60 instead.
Having watched a large number of your videos this just doesn't look as well speced as other yatchs of a similar price and the finish doesn't look as nice, but then your paying for that motor system etc for me diesel engine any day
I wish someone made a steel hull displacement boat that was fully solar and electric. Maybe like bering. Seems like a displacement boat could house so many more batteries due to their massive capacities.
Can it cross the atlantic ocean? Love Silent Yachts.
I as well would really like to see one of these in the wild with real world usage...especially crossing an ocean like the Atlantic.
Apparently so! www.silent-yachts.com/silent60/
I thought i be looking at a ordinary Hull design of a Catamaran, the feature of a forward cabin was a intresting! Nice
It will have its uses, and I understand the potential savings of an electric boat but... The interiors (and exteriors) are so dull!
