On this episode of Captain Moonbeam's Travels, we see a good natured, yet slightly bored pilot attempt to entertain himself for a few days in the Bahamas. Empty forts, cruise ship traffic, people running, and MORE! Will Moonbeam spiral into a Hemingway-esque, booze-fueled existential crisis? Will he catch the start of the marathon in time?! Stay tuned to find out!!
Flying my Cessna 340A from Van Nuys to centennial Airport on my simulator, I allowed myself to get off course watching this. I have watched many of your videos and wanted to say thank you. A lot of time must go into making these as they are so well done. Good thing I wasn’t flying for real, I would have had everybody yelling at me. Thanks again.
HI Cap, really enjoyed this video. I have had a pretty nice 70 years, I am envious of you occupation for sure. But I am most envious of your mobility. You don't seem to be hindered by bad knees, sore back, access weight etc. Be thankful, when you are seventy I pray you and wife will be as agile as you are now.
Hey Captmoonbeam I remembered when I was growing up in the Bahamas I would love to go on the field trips to the Forts especially Fort Charlotte, ever since I moved back to the U.S. I was fortunate to come back to visit with my kids to explore the Forts once again. Thank you for the memories.
Your candid and friendly nature makes your programs fun. Thank you for taking us along with you. We all feel like we went with a friend to the Bahamas! And in a Cessna Citation XL no less.
Captain Moonbeam thank you for a sweet vacation, then back to this snow and ice reality. That tour of the Fort was awesome and what’s better you had the whole place to yourself! Really enjoyed this video.
WOW!! My wife and I took the Inaugural Victory Cruise out of Miami in October 2000!!! We stopped in Cozumel,Cayman Islands and Jamaica!! We came back with a baby LOL...we found out later!!!
I went to Nassau last year, great times, we even went off island to Saddle Back Cay right by Normans Cay... anyways next time you are in town, just off the square is JETLINE SIMULATION. Totally worth going into and flying the 737 full scale sim. Ryan is awesome!!! Like the videos!! Keep them coming!
Grazie Jimbo! 👍 Thanks for showing us your trip to Nassau and your time there, including some of the food and restaurants, also the rain storm! May God remain with you on your travels. Every best wish from Italia.
I just returned from a 3500 mile trip round trip in my Cirrus SR22 from NH to Key West and then Nassau. I enjoyed seeing the way you spent your free time.
Great video Jim! I have been on vacation and yes, even in Waikiki I had time to watch your videos. This one really makes me want to visit Nassau. Thanks for all your hard work doing these posts.
Capt., I was thinking the same as you were, as you were exploring the fort. "Where is everyone?!?" Sure makes counting the daily gate short and easy!! Great video, as always. Loved Steve's comment...smart a...
Thanks for the fort tour! That was great! That whole area there reminded me of Bermuda - just bigger. Still have yet to hit the Bahamas. I've never seen so many cruise ships in one place ever! In Bermuda, 2 was all they could fit there. Pretty big ones, though. Anthem of the Seas sailed in after we arrived, dwarfing our boat, lol (Norwegian Dawn). Up until that point, ours was the biggest I had ever seen. Nothing like snow and cold to greet you after a few days in the islands! I can't wait for summer. Great flight - thanks for sharing.
Cruise ship going back and forth, back and forth. I *tried* to warn that guy there wouldn’t be any parking down there and that he needed to take an Uber instead... 😉 That trip puts a whole new spin on “paid vacation”. You make it look good, sir! 👍
Still love following you at work.. :-) Has been doing so for maybe a year now. I have only flown modelplanes, am a musician and your channel is what I’d like to watch, when I need a break from my teaching, from music and my practise routine. (Besides reading books). Btw. I often like your choice of music to accompany your videos. The vibe in the tune by the end of your videos is lovely. Always looking forward to the next one. :-)
Very very nice....Yes, the weather in Nassau Bahamas looks nice...My best friend here in Chicago just got back from Honolulu, Hawaii. I asked why he wanted to come back here to a cold!!!! Hehehehehehe!!! Yes, I would rather be somewhere a lot warmer...You made me laugh about breakfast on the beach...To see the cruise ships come in and out is very nice...Breakfast in the morning on the beach I have done many times in in North Beach, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and in Kona, Hawaii....You had a great mini layover vacation there...And Fort Charlotte looks very nice...Very very nice.....As always fly safe....
Another great video! I really enjoy that you show beyond the flight and really show some of the life of a pilot. One thing I noticed on this video was that the cockpit audio sounded off, almost like there were two recording sources, each in their own ear. I only noticed in when I was wearing headphones. It is only a slight issue, but I thought you may like to know. Would love to see you back in Napa if you ever make your way back out!
I inch of snow? Up here in Ottawa we have 10 feet at the front sidewalk. Unbelievable. Your videos are the much appreciated antidote!!!!! Great work :)
Capn, glad to see the video! Just an FYI, my fiancé got to see a 777 named Crystal at RSW. Oh my gosh, it was gorgeous inside, and It flies international only. I will post some pics on my Instagram or yours for you tomorrow. Tiki bikini huh, lol!
Hi Captain Excellent video as always lots of information I have stayed at that same hotel, same view, while doing the consulting and engineering for the new Cinema Complex in Nassau It is at the corner of JFK blvd and Gladstone road. Next time you fly into Nassau go check it out, it is very nice with state of the art auditoriums, restaurant overlooking BahaMar hotel, Kids Zone and Gaming and the biggest IMAX screen in the Caribbean 80 feet wide x 56 feet high it is really impressive I had to go several times while planning and construction Best regards and safe flying Arturo
Me thinks you could have used the FMS in that fort to guide you along. Make room for lots of bags, that’s no way to talk about your pax. LOL Great video.
Love the mix of flying and your land excursions. Have you been to the fort at St Augustine Florida? Kind of looks similar. BTW your videos from your phone are great.
Been wondering of late how your flying has been with all the bad weather Jim. MO recently looking very nasty. Lots to see at Nassau - plenty of cannons! Fort is fascinating. Odd you were on your own! Enjoyed your tour. Don't follow Instagram purely because of lack of time to cover everything - anyways as always, enjoy your YT vids Jim. Stay safe.
Hi Captain, New subscriber from Australia. Working my way through all your videoa and loving them. If you don't mind me asking how many hours are you up to now? i'm a low hrs sailplane pilot.
Clearing customs - as you fly across national borders often, I presume you clear customs frequently. Can you talk a bit (or make a video segment) about the difference a commercial/private pilot would encounter as opposed to a passenger on a large commercial aircraft? In my travel experiences as a regular passenger, I fill out a card that says where I've been, how long have I been out of country, what am I bringing back, etc., then I stand in line at the terminal until a customs agent reviews my card and speaks with me. Thanks - Ben Price - San Antonio
The next time you get a chance to fly into Rochester Minnesota please allow yourself some time to check out the local cuisine’s you will not be disappointed
When you said at 9:41 "3 hrs, 4, 6, 10" I thought like "why this guy adds to each number the difference between previous two numbers multiplied by two?!" :-)
No need for a flashlight, just take off the sunglasses. lol Enjoyed the video and the tour of the fort.
You Florida guys were born with sunglasses on. Don't know how to take them off. LOL
Thanks Steve.

WOW!! My wife and I took the Inaugural Victory Cruise out of Miami in October 2000!!! We stopped in Cozumel,Cayman Islands and Jamaica!! We came back with a baby LOL...we found out later!!!
That's why they say when you get back home from a cruise you should always unpack right away without delay just to take stock of what you have. LOL!

Nice tour. @7:29 I forgot they drive on the left side of the road in the Bahamas.
I inch of snow? Up here in Ottawa we have 10 feet at the front sidewalk. Unbelievable. Your videos are the much appreciated antidote!!!!! Great work :)
Thanks Floyd. 10 feet is about 9' 11" too much.😀

Great edutainment Captain!
Frankly, I'd rather drink 26 beers, over a few days, than run 26 miles.
It is much less taxing on the legs
Hey capt., nice video! My wife & I are going to check out that book, sounds interesting.
Watching the video, drinking coffe out of my Captmoonbeam mug, life is good :D
That makes me happy. I drink my coffee from it every morning because, it brings back flying memories.
Are you sure you were on your own? Those places have their own spooks you know. 😁 Great video. 👍

greeting knight of heaven
Another enjoyable video...thanks Captain!!
thanks for watching.
Looks pretty close to the HIlton, spent many a night there.
great video, do you have advice for someone about to take their commercial pilot checkride?
nice polite air traffic controllers in STL.
Jim, the curved corners and sloping walls on the fort were meant to deflect canon balls from enemy war ship.
Funny comment at 16:45. You're alright with me Jim, lol...
Great trip! I too, did some traveling......South County to Arnold... did not post my v log yet...😀😀. Really enjoy thanks!
!
Thanks, that can be an exciting journey.
captmoonbeam well it’s no Paradise Island...parked close to Arnold water tower,,,
Nice video. Do you get a set daily per diem? Or do you claim “actuals” for meals?
I'd like to be in Nassau today!!! LOL
Light snow here in Ballwin.
I can see why. After about the 3rd or 4th snow it gets old.
@@captmoonbeam At least it's sunny this morning!
New ride? I haven’t been here for awhile, what happened to Two Quebec?
Bryan from Vancouver

Hi Captain, New subscriber from Australia. Working my way through all your videoa and loving them. If you don't mind me asking how many hours are you up to now? i'm a low hrs sailplane pilot.
are you still flying? Haven't heard for you in over a month. Hope all is okay.
You been busy, or is it the weather .have not seen you in couple weeks.

I just read The Outliers, you will enjoy the chapter about aviation.
The next time you get a chance to fly into Rochester Minnesota please allow yourself some time to check out the local cuisine’s you will not be disappointed
Nice video! Is that a different XL to the previous one?
Why is your altimeter reading FL410 when you are 2 for 3?
Jim, been missing you and new videos,
Is N9U a new one to the fleet or am I just forgetful ??
What are the landing/take off hours at Spirit? 24 hours?
Bahamar looks much nicer than the courtyard...do you fly to other destinations within the Caribbean?
Is N9U your new 9-passenger ride?
Enjoyed the video
Thanks Matt.
Cool old school Excel video! Miss the XLS any?
Yes I do.
When you said at 9:41 "3 hrs, 4, 6, 10" I thought like "why this guy adds to each number the difference between previous two numbers multiplied by two?!" :-)
