Thanks man! I’ve had a 99” K2500 for a while now. I haven’t had the reverse lights working. Tried just about everything. Was trying to look up the part. I figured it had a old switch probably like older trucks on the steering column but it didn’t. Went to the parts store today and an older gentleman behind the counter said it was probably the neutral safety switch. I figured he was wrong after the first couple videos I watched. With no explanation as to exactly what they did. I figured the neutral and park was all the switch had anything to do with lol. Ok I know a lot for a back yard mechanic but obviously not everything!! Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction!! I’ll be ordering one this evening and putting it on this weekend!!
Thank you for this great Video on your 2008 Silverado, I have a 2009 doing the same thing , I have the new part but I’m going to check wires first then the switch. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I can't believe how easy you plugged it in!!!!! I had half an hour doing research because I couldn't get the plug in and still couldn't find the answer. I had an hour pulling the plug apart, cleaning it, applying wd40, and finally realizing the the safety clip in on a ramped groove so that the clip must go in at the same time and amount as the plug in order to fulling seat. Jeeez I didn't replacing my switch and just put the old one back on, which is probably why yours went smoothly and mine didn't. I just rebuilt the 4l80e and am trying to get it back on the road. I know someone is going to say that I should always put a new one in. If I had that philosophy this rebuild would have cost $10k. If I had that I wouldn't have been lying in the snow installing a transmission. I tried like madd to get it all done before bad weather but the project kept getting bigger. I ended up replacing all the fuel lines, brake lines, etc. One minute it was rust free from Nashville another minute the PA roads turned it to crap. I'm taking the time to write this in case someone else has the same plug problem.
Thank you ive been having the same problem for years i replaced the switch and it remained the same, but now with your video I'm going to check on those wires.
I have no reverse lights, no under score on gear selector, when in D it won’t shift down and my speedo is out. I changed the vss and made no difference. This is my next thing to try. Idk if it can cause all the issues tho.
I might have the same problem with my lights but not sure if it is the switch. Everytime I put my truck in reverse the lights don't come on but when I turn my truck off all lights stay on and my reverse lights come on. Could it be the switch that's the problem?

Wow, that’s quite a story. Sorry you had trouble with the plug.

I hope it works out.
Did you figure out why your brake lights didn’t work ?
Reverse lights ?
Thanks now i have a idea where to look 👍
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
Thanks a lot for the video exactly what I needed 👍🏼
You’re welcome I am glad it helped
Where is it located The neutral safety switch
@@cesartorres8890 Close to the transmission.
When changing this switch does the vehicle has to be in park or neutral
I think it was in park

It’s worth a shot
Check your grounds when a bunch of things go out at once. Even your soldiers need to be rewett for your prndl like mine.
What is causing the wires to break? Pretty sure my avalanche has the same issue
I don’t know

That would be a good place to start and it’s not that expensive.
Does the switch come in the park position or did you adjust it ?
I’m not sure. Maybe you can turn it by hand all the way One Direction and that would be the park position.
I got the job done thank you for the great video. The part came in neutral . @@bkdesignconcepts
Did the transmission had to be in neutral? Or can you replace it, with the transmission set on parking?
I left it in park
Was this an Allison or standard tranny? I have a 2008 2500HD w/ Allison. Same issues.
Not sure. It’s a half ton Silverado
