YES, IT IS HARDNESS 10 ON THE MOHS SCALE, AND IT CAN ONLY BE SCRATCHED BY ANOTHER DIAMOND. A HAMMER DOES NOT SCRATCH A DIAMOND; IT SHATTERS AND BREAKS IT. Goodbye.
This test was great. The simple way to tell a CZ from a diamond is to get a carat weight conversion chart, measure the stone in question, then weigh it. CZ and diamond are so different that it'd be impossible to confuse them in this regards. Fun fact: the first cubic zirconia (CZ) was found in nature, as an inclusion in a metamict zircon. While unstable and eventually breaking down, CZ is actually a natural gem just like sapphire or any other...except that what we have was all grown in a lab.

Mossanite is a gemstone in it's own right and was was found in a meteorite around the 1893 and has only been used in jewellery since 1998 you could say it's rarer than diamonds, diamonds are not rare as many people would think it's the way diamonds have been marketed, one of the biggest diamond buyers in the world has stopped using mind diamonds which is Pandora they are going to use lad grown, there's another gemstone that was found meteorite and that is Moldervite
If you want a 1 ct diamond, any quality, you need to mine 1 M stones to find one. If we talk top quality, proberbly 20 M/1. Pink and light blues are even more rare, especially bigger sizes. I call that pretty rare, don't you agree?

If you wonder why hard materials are brittle - it's exactly because they are hard - the chemical bonds are short, giving very little 'wiggle room' to distribute kinetic enegy - like a duct tape being very strong unless you bite it, then it rips instantly. For extreme strength one needs sheet copolymer (carbon loves to make planar structures) that has relatively strong bonds and is flexible enough to absorb the hit. This is why aramide (or Kevlar) is used to make bullet proof helmets and vests.

I played with diamonds and nice bit as well as other gems and I've noticed for some reason the refraction of the color seems to be fairly noticeable I usually get it right about 7 out of 10 times
The only way to learn is to look, look and look a million times, at different colors, qualities, brilliance and at fake and real ones side by side. It's like with paper money: by knowing what the real paper feels like you detect the fakes.

I had a solitaire diamond ring that got tossed & it hit the side of a kitchen sink. When looking at it afterwards, I noticed the chip on it. The sink was not stainless steel. It knew it wasn't a very good quality diamond but didn't think it should have got chipped. Took it back to the jeweler & it was very obvious that it was a slightly larger, as well as a much better quality diamond had replaced the original. Was there a good possibility that the original might not have been a genuine diamond?

Put it under a Black Light. My wife's Diamond Engagement Ring was bought from Rosendorff and they laser cut a ID number into the underside of the diamond.
The hardness scale is not linear, so it does not compare to a diamond in hardness. It's higher than other gems, but not better than a diamond. Obviously it's a lot cheaper.
Hardness : durability against scratch. Toughness : durability against impact. Hardness of a diamond may be the perfect one but its toughness much below a metal.
Really I didn't know that fake diamonds can be damaged from the fire after you cool it down and put them in water and the real diamonds can't stay the same after you put them in fire and cool them off and a glass of water I never knew that wow 😲

4:09 that's just soot from the candlewax - diamond just gives off a tiny amount of CO2 - strong heating with a blowtorch in air or oxygen would eventually turn the diamond completely into carbon dioxide gas. The diamond however turn black on its own... evenutally. Diamond spontaneously turns into graphite at atmospheric pressure, but the process is so unfathomably slow that you don't have to worry - it would take eons until one can spot any difference.
I was shocked by the hammer too, the CZ, probably looked like the small diamond. They could have avoided this scene, and just said diamonds can break. Much sensitive.

As far as i know. Real diamonda have inclusions when viewed in a microscope. While lab ones are clear. That is the only difference. While spcificgravity . weight brilliance remain the same
i don't have, and probably will never have, enough money for a diamond, not even a fake one to take these tests, but still watched it to the end, great job lol
You can't tell the difference between a diamond and a moissanite from a conductivity test anymore. That was a few years ago. New good quality moissanite is indistinguishable on this point
There’s no such a thing haha and the truth is the company lost their patent for synthetic moissanite in 2015 , now everybody can make moissanite. You can buy the best quality 1ct moissanite under $100 from India and China. Moissanite sellers say moissanites’ resell values drop less than diamonds do. But the value of moissanite got more than 10 times less than before 2015 (even if you think about it’s not resell value. It’s market value. So actually it dropped more!). Since patents don't last forever for industrial development, the price of synthetic jewelry can only go down ridiculously over time.

yes the high specific weigh of cubic zirkonia is a disadvantage to create jewelry for the ears with setted bigger stones.

It might survive a blow depending on the angle you hit it and the force exerted, but it'll eventually shatter if struck.

How about man-made diamond from lab, i saw this video on Producer Michael youtube, is it possible to detect it?
You'll need different testers to detect lab grown diamonds, which are typically much more expensive than the regular testing equipment.
As far as i know. Real diamonda have inclusions when viewed in a microscope. While lab ones are clear. That is the only difference. While spcificgravity . weight brilliance remain the same
Lab grown diamonds can have inclusions and blemishes too.
i don't have, and probably will never have, enough money for a diamond, not even a fake one to take these tests, but still watched it to the end, great job lol

You can't tell the difference between a diamond and a moissanite from a conductivity test anymore. That was a few years ago. New good quality moissanite is indistinguishable on this point
There’s no such a thing haha and the truth is the company lost their patent for synthetic moissanite in 2015 , now everybody can make moissanite. You can buy the best quality 1ct moissanite under $100 from India and China.
Moissanite sellers say moissanites’ resell values drop less than diamonds do. But the value of moissanite got more than 10 times less than before 2015 (even if you think about it’s not resell value. It’s market value. So actually it dropped more!).
Since patents don't last forever for industrial development, the price of synthetic jewelry can only go down ridiculously over time.
