Pecan Tassies (Classic Version) - Joyofbaking.com

- Recipe here: www.joyofbaking... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Pecan Tassies. I think of these cute little Pecan Tassies as miniature Pecan Pies. They make a nice addition to your holiday baking, and are especially good when you're having a large group over for dinner and want to serve your desserts buffet style. The pastry is unique as it contains cream cheese, which adds both flavor as well as making the pastry wonderfully tender and flaky. I love how the custard-like filling is sweet and gooey and has lots of crunchy pecans. Pecans Tassies store very well and can also be frozen.

I've included these in my baked Christmas cookie assortments even though it's not actually a cookie. These are always a hit. On a side note, if you mix the nuts in the filling, they will sink to the bottom of the tartlets. They'll still taste delicious, but not as aesthetically pleasing. They're perfect in bitesize portions because they're as rich and decandant as candy. Buttery, flaky, sweet, and nutty.
You are the most articulate and demonstrative person in media delivered lessons, not to mention you have the greatest recipes I know of. I really thank you for your help and dedication to us your subscribers.Thank you
P.S. These Tassies are exactly what I've been looking for.

Last time I made these tassies, I experimented by using a shortbread pie crust. They were delicious with some vanilla ice cream. Ice cream was the reason for using a different crust.
And now looking for pecan recipes, I can't decide what to make. These just made it to the top of my list! Wish I had cream cheese to make them now because I want them now!
I was so amazed by this recipe. I've never made a crust this way, but it goes perfectly well with the sweet filling.
This is a high success rate recipe
They just came out of the oven and are to die for! I used Dutch pie crust cause I dont have creamcheese on hand and added a touch of cinnamon to the filling. Thanks agains for all your great recipies..
Baked a batch today. I can confirm - these are phenomenal!
You always do things properly! Thanks for this amazing body of work!
Those look fantastic, then again I love anything with pecans. :)

Thank you very much for giving metric measures as well as cup sizes, it's makes a great difference to those of us who are from other countries (UK in my case) who are confused by the cup system, for example 1 cup flour weighs more than 1 cup of sugar. I have yet to try these but they look very yummy!

In Canada, we call them Butter Tarts. We have been baking them for so many years but found they were not made in the U.S. We add raisins sometimes. Will try your cream cheese pastry. Sounds yummy. Love how you explain things. Wonderful video.
I do have a butter tart recipe on the site. These are similar to a butter tart only they are made with a cream cheese pastry. www.joyofbaking.com/ButterTarts.html
I love this recipe!Its amazing
I make these for Christmas and I absolutely love them.
So does my mother ever since I was a little boy Kathy’s Home Decor
The same dough can be used to make a wide variety of tassies. I like lemon curd, lime curd, raspberry or cherry jam, or almost any pie filling (run it through the food processor if it has big pieces of fruit like apple).
When my mother was alive, she would make them for Christmas but she called them Teatime Taffy, not sure why hahahaha they sure are pecan pies, sooooo good! Didnt know anyone else knew how to make those.❤
A staple in our home! Mom made every Xmas ! So delicious, tasty & addicting !
Stephanie you make the best recipes, so when are you going to publish a book? When I need a recipe I always look you up, they always come out just as you make them.
Thank you so much!
I don't have any plans to do a cookbook. We're totally committed to video. But thank's so much for asking.

Love you Ms. Dee❤️
I could never do a cooking show. Besides not being a professional, I could never resist take a bite out of the mix at various points in the process. Sometimes it almost looks like she’s fighting the same urge.
OMG! I just made a double batch and they are amazing. Thank you for the step by step video.
The clear bowl is great!

Heaven... Right there! Thanks Stephanie! :D
Thanks :) I like your recipes very much.
I've been making this since the 80s with Mac nuts and I mix the nuts in to the wet mixture before spooning into crust baking at 350 till brown.
They look delicious, thanks
you are sooooo nice to listen to
OOO! Great recipe! Love the new clear bowl too!:) (haha it's the little things you notice when you are a long time subscriber)
I usually make a chocolate pecan pie that is outstanding, I am going to try it with your recipe and cut the number of pecans in half and add the same amount in chocolate chips. It should be a winner!
Ooh, that sounds wonderful. I’m going to try that, too.
You don't have to roll that dough. You can put a bit in each cup and press it in. I have a wooden tool that does that beautifully. It's a lot quicker.
What kind of a tool do you use to press the dough into the cups? I would like to know. I use my fingers.
I have one also...it’s from The Pampered Chef. It works just dandy!
That’s what we do Barbara Rickman
Thank you Stephanie Jaworski for this precise recipe. I just made it and its very tasty and delicious. My family is very surprised that i can make this dessert lol. Thanks again. I just subscribed to your chanel too. Going to make my family surprised again and again. Hehe 😀
They look yummy! I will be giving these a try for Christmas! Love pecans :)
I really enjoy your videos.
Joy, thanks for the well articulated directions and TIPS. I used a "restaurant style ketchup squirt bottle" to fill my pastry cups to save time - works well. My other tip...after quartering the pastry and refrigerating, you may not have an exact quarter and may roll out an inadequate amount of dough...be ready to break off a piece from another part . AND, don't roll out pastry and throw any away... put the leftover back with a portion in the fridge, as the amount of pastry dough can run tight. LOVE YA....
One of my favorites
Great website and better recipes.
I'm definitely making these, or considering using your regular pecan pie recipe. I was going to ask if you could use the regular pecan pie ingredients with syrup and fill the mini pan with that? Thanks!! Love your videos!
when putting in your dough u can us a shot glass to push great indents and then feel ..i do it all the time with my cream cheese bits :0)
MINI PECAN PIE RECIPE AWESOME
Thank you for the great recipe, they look delicious, can it be made in one tart pan?
I've never tried it, but it should work.
Im currently making this delicious looking recipe! Is it okay to save left over filling and dough in the fridge for another batch?
Amazing. I have to try this.
Humm I never rolled my out I have a wooden dowl that came with my tazzie tin that I press my pastry dough in the tin...
Thanks for showing me another way.
I have a press too and it's so much easier than rolling, cutting and shaping the pastry. Just put a scoop of dough in the pan and squish it into shape.
I never rolled it out either. Just a small ball of dough and shaped to the cup. The greatest kitchen tool I ever found was a simple hard plastic dowel for spreading it out and shaping it to the tin - boy does that simple gadget save time!
If I was to bake it as a pie.....Would I have to bake it longer,? and if so, how long? And oven temperature, does it change, or stays the same?
Hi, I love all your recipes. I'd like to know if I could bake this in a big iron pan instead of small muffin size pan.
I find that putting the pecan's in first then the filling works much better.
I just love you Stephanie
I love pecan tassies and this is a great recipe video! I found some pecan meal/flour at MillicanPecan.com and hope to try swapping out the all-purpose flour with pecan meal to see if I can create a gluten-free version for our gluten intolerant daughter. We'll see. Either way, these are a great alternative to sitting down to a slice of pecan pie with lots of calories!
What brand is your mixer?
Hi Stephanie. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe! Could you please let me know if I can store these at room temperature ? If so, for how many days will it store well?
Hii...that looks really yum..will try soon...is it possible to make the same in microwave oven????if ys wht would b the temp nd timing??
I wonder if you can bake it like a pecan pie. I like the crust.
Going to make these!
Thanks
I probably missed when you said the temperature.Looks great.
Oh my.. these look tasty. Can it be Made as one big pie? I know it will change the baking time but I wonder if the custard Will come out the same as with the small ones..
The pecan filling for these tarts is about the same as for a pecan pie so it should work.
WoW what a quick response, thank you! I’m going to give a try right away.
Thanks for the video! Is there a reason why you do not use the gold syrup for this recipe like you do when you make pecan pie? I love a rich pecan pie and am trying to figure out what to use for the filling whether its light corn syrup, maple syrup, golden syrup or just brown sugar. What is your favourite of all these sugars to use when making a pecan pie? Like i said I love a rich, sweet pecan pie. Should i just stick to corn syrup. I bought some light Crown corn syrup versus Karo because I could not find it. Have you ever used Crown Corn Syrup? Thanks!
For a pecan pie I typically use golden syrup, although you could use corn syrup or even maple syrup. I've never tried crown corn syrup.
This looks wonderful...Questions....please share what mixer you are using..make
and model...PLS.... #2...Would using this crust recipe be workable & favorable
for the Electric mini machines? I have Breville & WolfGang & Curtis Stone... Thank you so much....:)
I use a Kenwood Titanium Chef 5 quart mixer. You could use another type of mixer or you could make it by hand.
@@joyofbaking Thank you...I thought it was a Kenwood... Is this recipe for pie crust a good one for using with electric mini pie maker... pls... thank you
Bravo
Ur the best..
Hey Joy love your videos! These are what I’ve been looking for. I’ve been making pecan pies for our holidays for more than twenty years. Sooo no syrup in these little tassies?
I would really love to see a chocolate souffle video!!
Can I ask a question If you leave out the Pecans and just have the filling is it a butter tart? you can put raisins in them or just the filling.
Butter tarts normally use a butter pastry rather than a cream cheese pastry. You can leave out the nuts or you could replace them with raisins.
Hi Steph could you use ready shortcrust pastries to make this pie pls? Makes life a lot easier
Yes, you could do that.
Can i use dark brown sugar intead?? Thanks for your recipe
look divine!!😋
I already have some shells, can I use them with this filling?
Yes, you could use this filling with other types of pastry shells.
Hi Stephanie, have a question. The pan you're using was a mini-cupcake size pan? If not, which type of pan was it?? Thanks u, love your show.
Yes, I use a miniature muffin (or cupcake) pan.
Do you have a video doing this sort of thing but with pumpkin pie?
I have this recipe for pumpkin tarts www.joyofbaking.com/PiesAndTarts/PumpkinTarts.html
Is the mensure of the butter correct ( 1 cup) ? Becuse it seems to be more
YUMMY 😋 AMAZING THANKS YOU GOODNESS JOY OF BAKING ✨, ♥️🖤💚 BROWN FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME🦋 WOW BEAUTIFUL 💯.
