Xtrusion makes cool stuff. Like legos for Overlanding. I just sent this vid to my Gladiator and Raptor friends and trying to get them to go this route.
Love the new set up. The great thing about Xtrusion is their flexablity. While they have pre-configured bed racks you can also custom configure your rack and have it built the way you want and need it. There are also are so many options in RTT's now, anyone would be hard pressed to find one that doesn't work for them.
Saw you at Moab Diner during the Safari but didn't want to intrude. Love your content and you are the one who can really wheel when leading your friends around the Moab trails. Peace
It's a fantastic rack, I got mine in April 2021. Takes me less than 5 minutes to mount or dismount on my Gladiator and all by myself because it's not heavy. I like the new connectors, that's the only place where the rack separated slightly when I was in a collision (I T-boned someone at 25 mph that cut in front of me), but otherwise the rack held up fine.I love all the stuff we can add to it, but honestly I don't have much on mine (just a fire extinguisher and shovel most of the time). I just love the way it looks. So glad you got connected with them and help give them some exposure. A nice hack I figured out (because my rack sits just below the roof) is that the Yakima rain gutter towers fit in the channels of the extrusion. So in just a few minutes I can prep for a load of lumber or throw my kayak on it.
Wow I was literally just watching the Moore 2022 expo and you were talking about in the future about what you’re going to do with the back of your bed. Refreshed my UA-cam and this was the first video that popped up lol love it
I love it! That rack is freaking awesome! I’m super jealous not gonna lie lol 😂 I really like how slim the wedge tent is. Look forward to seeing it in person at Moore on Friday.
Hey Matt, Very nice set up! You mentioned kitchen lighting on the back side of your tent. May I suggest rock lights on the cross bar of your rack. This would allow to place a small awning or your moon shade to attach on the tent and provide cover for your kitchen area. Rock lights will allow red or amber for trying to cook with the annoying bugs in the area. Definitely enjoy your videos. Oh by the way, I saw that giant band-aid on the left rear corner of Sully. Hilarious!
I have the exact same style setup on my zr2, freespirit odyssey rtt on top that’s 55”x80” so whole bed stays dry, some outdoor led lights wrapped around the bottom of the tent to have lights to see in the bed and some ambient lighting at night, and two cyclones pointing down at the tailgate for daylight at nightime cooking, hope it works out great for you, love the content bud
Love the setup, and since I'm shopping for a new rack for my Gladiator you may have saved me some trial and error! Noticed the bandaid on Sully's left quarter... ouch!
That is the first wedge setup I have seen with side entry... very interesting. I do like the hinge type that allows a wedge to gain some clearance at the front though. It looks like this one just uses some fixed pivot hinges. If it were just a li'l longer it would be easy to add a port to the bottom at the head or foot to route the diesel heater (it would need extra length to be able to do so without covering it with the mattress. I am putting a contractor style rack on my Tacoma once they are back in stock, but this has given me an idea for an alternative tent build option as most RTTs are not designed to work with contractor racks. My current design for a clamshell though allowed me storage under the mattress, plus a "headboard" that would allow for storage, charging ports, and vented port for a heater (or potentially outdoor air if I were to attach a bug guard on the 3" port, and at 6' long would allow for a queen size mattress and still have about 5 feet of cargo rack available over the cab.
Dude nice! Got my clamshell from Centori about a month ago and finally had a non-rainy or working weekend so my son and I had our inaugural trip with it to Cape Henlopen State Park. 2 nights in about 40 degree temps and just a blanket each and an unzipped sleeping bag as a blanket and it was fine. Well and a hat for my bald head. Lol. I went clamshell bc Im big into mountain biking and want to be able to leave Fri nights after work to get to trailhead so I can get up and ride the next day. So getting in late and want quick and easiest setup possible. The clamshell fits that bill, and after our one trip I can tell I made the right call. I suggested that exact idea to Alan at SEMA but it’s too complex for non-JLU owners. So I bought their rack and designed custom supports to make it work.
Good looking rack. Looks like it’s super functional too. Also that band aid sticker over that oof you got in Moab is hilarious. Don’t remember seeing it happen in any of your videos, but I saw you explain it to Rob in his video

My rack comes in today. Delivered any second now. My question is wheee can I buy 1/2 of the truck bed storage like you have? I love that idea as I don’t wanna use up my whole bed with a platform. Thanks!!!

Would be nice if there was a rain fly off the side entry so you didn't have to hang your feet out in the rain to take off your shoes. Quick setup is nice tho!
Looks great, like most racks when looking at the side profile I wish they'd utilize more of the truck box length, not necessarily where it mounts but over all length. Just for esthetics, a couple inches closer to the back of the cab and bit closer to the end of the box would be nice to see. Overall still looks great 👍 👌.
@jonfuller4923 is right. The corners flare out. I know they did make some different mounts after I bought mine in early 2021 that allowed the rack to extend a bit more front and back. But it's more about aesthetics as you say as I haven't found it to be to short for any of my applications. Still love my rack Jon!
@@scottsnyder8691 im well aware the corners flare out, maybe I wasn't clear.
