Yeah its very similar to wireless controlling of an LED just you will need to wire your micro controller to your 12V power supply and lighting to give it the input from the switch which is also wired to a separate micro controller
when AT command is given in the serial monitor... i am not getting OK response... not just OK .... im not getting any response.. please help me out..???
Great! But at the end of the process, my two modules don't blink together. Master(connected to mega) blinks, blinks and then Slave(connected to UNO) blinks but nevere together. Can you help me?
Hello pathbots, this was very helpful and I almost finished in less than 10 minutes but I ran into a problem. It says that my modules are binded and stay binded but they won't connect. I'm using an Arduino uno and have checked every step and everything is correct. Not sure why?
The default baud rate of AT command mode is 38400 and can not be changed. You can change the communication baud rate. Use the command AT+UART? You'll see the default communication rate it 9600. You can change that to anything you want
Best video on this subject I've seen so far! Great job! I'm assuming you're using a 3.3V arduino (since you're not running the arduino's TX pin through a logic level converter or resistor voltage divider)? You might want to specify this in the video. I'm pretty sure that the HC-05 can only handle 3.3V on its TX and RX pins and that 5V would fry it. Or maybe I've heard wrong and the HC-05 can handle 5V just fine?
Just fried my HC-05 board by connecting my arduino's TX pin to the HC-05's RX pin (without first going through a logic level converter). So it's definitely possible to fry it (as I feared). Not sure how you're getting away with 5V.
Yeah man, doing some research it says you should use a voltage divider on the RX pin to get it down to 3.3v. But I have 2 sets of HC-05's in my BB-8 driod, and I use one set for testing things all the time and have never had a issue with frying them. Really strange.
No worries. It was cheap. The back or your modules look a bit different than mine. It seems that not all HC-05s are created equal. There's probably varying base boards and manufacturers out there. Anyway, it would be awesome if you added a quick note about this in your video so no one else has to go through this.
So i used arduino mega 2560. During plugin into PC i held button. Beep says i am in AT configuration mode. I set all commands you mentioned and i was getting response OK. After test my bluetooths are able to pair because they both blink synchronized but they are unable to communicate and i dont know why. Both have same baud rates. Also i would like to ask i see ur mac address is xxxx.xx.xxxxxx this is format. When i check my mac addres its xx.x.xxxxxx is it because there are 0 digits hidden in it or its weird that i have diff format of MAC than you? Thanks.
Hello! Great Video! Right to the point. One question, do we have to set the AT commands every time we disconnect and re-connect the arduinos ? Or do the HC-05 "remember" their master or slave state ? Thanks!
@@PatchBOTS Oh, you could add in the description that Error (7) may also come up in case the address is two characters less; For example an address FCA8:9A:22ED is two characters less than in your tutorial in the end. This is simply fixed by adding zeros in the end, i.e.: FCA8:9A:22ED00 :)

"AT+NAME?" replies "+NAME:HC-05 OK". Model no. ZS-040.

Hi @PatchBOTS , i followed the same steps but after they both are paired, one HC 05 blinks every 2 seconds as in communication mode like yours but the other one blinks every 6 seconds. I think there is something wrong but can't figure. Pls Help....
Oh okay let me explain a little better. Tx is your "transmitter" and Rx is your "receiver". When you're programming the modules through AT you want the transmitters connected to each other and the receivers connected to each other. After everything is programmed and you have your master and slave, you need to switch around one pair of those wires such that the Transmitter of your Arduino is connected to the Receiver of your Bluetooth Module and vice versa. This way one receives what the other transmits.

Worked well until the AT+BIND part. I got ERROR 7, which is not from a forgotten space. But I looked up over some forum and a guy wrote that different versions of BT modules can be the issue. And indeed I have version 2.0 on the problematic BT module and version 3.0 on the other one. Do you know something related to this?
Hi Lulian. Hm, I never ran into this problem with different Firmware before. Just double check you've replaced the colons with commas, and there is DEFINITELY no hanging space at the end of the address when you paste it in. If that doesn't clear the issue, try switching the roles of the modules. Maybe one firmware is more likely to bind than the other. If none of that work i recommend pouring through the information on Martyn Currey's blog. He has done extensive write ups on the HC-05 and all it's firmware versions. You may be able to find an answer in there: www.martyncurrey.com/hc-05-fc-114-and-hc-06-fc-114-first-look/ Good luck and PLEASE post your results back into the comments to help others who may run into the same situation
@@PatchBOTS Definitely there was not hanging space there xD. Indeed the issue was the different version of the BT modules. I connected two BT modules both with v2.0 and the pairing is done. Important fact: if I connect directly to RX without the voltage divider (like on Martyn Currey's blog) I cannot even enter to AT Command. If someone else struggles with this, take a look the connections of this guy : educ8s.tv/arduino-two-way-bluetooth-communication/. Thank you for your tutorial!

I can not get the HC-05 to enter paired mode. I feel like I am following this guide exactly. PLEASE HELP!!!

Sorry this comment got flagged by youtube, I just saw it for the first time. Are you still having trouble? Please post a more specific problem you are having and I'll be happy to guide you.
@@PatchBOTS I actually got them to pair! I found another circuit that used a level converter, and it worked great! Thank you!

Sir, actually i was trying to connect to my smartphone to a hc05, i put hc05 in master mode, i made cmode to 0, then i input my smartphone's mac adress (bluetooth) to the hc05 using serial command AT+BIND= (), but i dont know why my smartphone is not able to find the hc05 in device list ..
Sorry, not sure. I've never tried pairing with a smartphone.
Sir,
I want to know when the HC-05 bt module is paired ..the external LED what's to glow ....is there any possible ???
You can attach an led to the "state" pin. That will glow when it is paired
Hi.. What if we can't enter to AT mode.. When we type AT then enter, OK not showing..
I have some common trouble shooting in the description tot he video.
Great video. Would you mind if I asked a question? I want to remotely control some 12v lights, but need to use a standard toggle switch. How would you connect a switch to one of these units.
I am a new boy to these products so my knowledge is limited. Thank you.
Well it would be connected to a microcontroller on both ends so connect the switch to that and transmit the on/off data
Yeah its very similar to wireless controlling of an LED just you will need to wire your micro controller to your 12V power supply and lighting to give it the input from the switch which is also wired to a separate micro controller
How do I send a code to the Arduino via Bluetooth on my laptop (without using the Arduino cable and the alternative is Bluetooth)
when AT command is given in the serial monitor... i am not getting OK response... not just OK .... im not getting any response.. please help me out..???
Are you using an UNO?
Can I do the same if I want to connect to smartphones rather than another HC-05?
for me everything else works , but when i try to change the role it doesnt let me, what can it be ?
Great! But at the end of the process, my two modules don't blink together. Master(connected to mega) blinks, blinks and then Slave(connected to UNO) blinks but nevere together. Can you help me?
They don't necessarily have to blink together as long as they are blinking the same way.
@@PatchBOTS thanks!! Later i Will try again and i Will let you know :)
@@PatchBOTS and if i want that the two modules communicate eachother, which Is the Arduino's code?
The Serial monitor is not responding to AT commands, I did everything as stated. Any help?
Are you using an Arduino UNO?
@@PatchBOTS no Arduino nano
That's your problem. Programming must be done on UNO
Is it possible to pair a peripheral to the bluetooth module. (Ex. a bluetooth joystick to arduino via HC-05/etc)?
maybe, you'd need the MAC address of the joystick to pair it. I've never tried this though.
Sir my hc05 is blinking twoceand turning off
Can you help me?
i have one but what can i do with it?
In the part of entering the "AT" In serial monitor with 38400 buad rate both NL& CR No result or anything response
nvm thank youuuuu for this, it will help my thesis!
Hello pathbots, this was very helpful and I almost finished in less than 10 minutes but I ran into a problem. It says that my modules are binded and stay binded but they won't connect. I'm using an Arduino uno and have checked every step and everything is correct. Not sure why?
Is it possible to change the baud rate other than 38400? I want a high baud rate for my application.
Nah I think they can handle it. Haven't had any problems yet.
Yeah, maybe a brand issue. I'll put a notation in there later today and make a section in the description of the video.
it is possible that thus setup is control by mobile phone?
I don't have a reset button on my Bluetooth module, please help
So i used arduino mega 2560. During plugin into PC i held button. Beep says i am in AT configuration mode. I set all commands you mentioned and i was getting response OK. After test my bluetooths are able to pair because they both blink synchronized but they are unable to communicate and i dont know why. Both have same baud rates. Also i would like to ask i see ur mac address is xxxx.xx.xxxxxx this is format. When i check my mac addres its xx.x.xxxxxx is it because there are 0 digits hidden in it or its weird that i have diff format of MAC than you?
Thanks.
Great video thank you!! I follow your instruction to write AT in serial monitor but there is a problem in writing AT+BIND. Can I know why?
Hi I have Normal USB speakers and I have HC05 module with me.. How can I make the connections in order to turn the speakers to Bluetooth? Any way?
Sorry, I have no idea. Would depend a lot on what each HC is connected to.
Hello! Great Video! Right to the point. One question, do we have to set the AT commands every time we disconnect and re-connect the arduinos ? Or do the HC-05 "remember" their master or slave state ? Thanks!
They remember!
@@PatchBOTS Insanely fast reply, thank you, really appreciate it :)
@@eleftheriostriantafyllidis3012 No sweat, if you run into any issues post them here and I'm happy to help
Can we use 1 master & and 3 or 4 slaves sir.....i want to my 3 or 4 bluetooth modules using my mobile Google assistant, is it possible sir? If so could u plzzz give a brief note sir.
Hello,
I'm using it for Arduino Micro
while I type AT commands it doesn't respond and shows nothing, not even error..?
can you please help me out?
You can use a micro for your project, but for programming in AT command mode you need to use an UNO. that is why you aren't seeing anything
When I connect the HC-05 they are already in slow blink mode but when i write the AT command i get no response
me also same problem
Great tutorial. This might be Ok for connecting couple pieces what if you have a 100 or 1000 Bluetooth pairs is there a way for two known Bluetooth hardware devices to auto connect?
followed your instructions for wiring, but I cannot enter AT commands on the serial monitor, what have I done wrong. I am also using an Arduino nano.
Same problem
You can not use a Nano for this method. You must use an Uno. Once the HC-05 modules are paired, you can attach them to Nano's, but the programming must be done on an Uno
Hello sir..I am working on. Robotic arm arduino uno and hc05 module..but blutooth is not connecting
Be happy to help if you can be more specific
Great video! Subscribed!
Thanks man!
Hey so I followed your video, (great job by the way!), and they are blinking twice every 2 seconds like they are paired, but it’s back and forth and not synchronized. Is it still paired? I couldn’t find anything wrong with what I did.
Please help me. I am using Arduino UNO. I read the issues you have written in the description. I have followed all the three techniques from Issue no. - 2. I have checked the connections several times. When I type "AT" command, it replies "OK", it replies "AT+ROLE?", "AT+PSWD?" etc. But when I type "AT+ROLE=1" it replies nothing!! "AT+NAME?" replies "+NAME:HC-05 OK". Model no. ZS-040.
almost the same problem: after changing the role (AT+ROLE=1) to hc-05, the board returns OK, but with AT+ROLE? answer: +ROLE:0, that is, the role does not change. have you found the reason for this yet?
@@secrey36 I didn’t find the exact reason. But I think, firmware versions less than 2 (two) don't support 'Master Mode'.
@@muhammadtamim451 Thanks for the suggestion :) I'll try further, maybe I'll go through the hardware. I really want to make a remote control for the manipulator
@@secrey36 welcome!
Hi @PatchBOTS , i followed the same steps but after they both are paired, one HC 05 blinks every 2 seconds as in communication mode like yours but the other one blinks every 6 seconds. I think there is something wrong but can't figure. Pls Help....
Should be fine. They may just be different firmware versions. You can check this by typing AT+VERSION?
@@PatchBOTS Yeah, one was of 3.0 and the other of 2.0. Could be the same reason, thank u so much for the quick and prompt reply, saved my day.
Nice video. I made Master and Slave, but I didn't get last step when you used other arduino and exchanged RX-TX and TX-RX (bluetooth and Arduino uno)?
Oh okay let me explain a little better. Tx is your "transmitter" and Rx is your "receiver". When you're programming the modules through AT you want the transmitters connected to each other and the receivers connected to each other. After everything is programmed and you have your master and slave, you need to switch around one pair of those wires such that the Transmitter of your Arduino is connected to the Receiver of your Bluetooth Module and vice versa. This way one receives what the other transmits.
@@PatchBOTSthanks for 1st doubt. Also if I want to send 5 sensors data by bluetooth, in that case which of the following two methods will be better.
1. Using 2 arduino uno and 2 HC05 MODULE...One arduino uno connected to Laptop for monitoring in Serial monitor.
2. ONE ARDUINO uno and one HC05 MODULE directly interface with laptop bluetooth.
Also can we interface the master module with MATLAB?
Kindly share your experiences. Thanks
My bluetooth module is not entering in AT mode by pressing the button and powering on arduino.. it keeps blinking fastly.. Can you help me to solve this problem?
Can I use it like one uno and one nano
Is it possible to connect number of HC-05 Modules at a same time? i connect to modules at same time but on bluetooth terminal app the names of these modules overlapp each other. What should i do?/Please suggest.
Not sure if you can connect more than one.
