This film is basically an Avengers 2.5 film. It's based on Cap's storyline but with what the story entails, it includes so many more characters. And it's probably in my top 5 of the Infinity Saga films.

With all the CGI in our movies today, you'd probably be shocked at just how much of them Marvel tries to do for real. Like Cap jumping out of the car as it flips over behind him. Or them running super fast between the cars. They did all that practically. They had them running on a long strip of material that they were pulling at the same time. Yeah, there are some egregious CGI shots, but the big action stuff, they do a lot of the old school way. Stunt people and all. Which makes it fun to watch.

Ross showed a lot of footage, but he overlooked Thor’s fight with Malekith in London, Hulk vs Hulkbuster in Johannesburg, and the Avengers vs Ultron and his sentries in Seoul.
Steve and Tony swapped ideologies. There was a time when Steve trusted the government, but the times have changed in more ways than one. After what happened with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the present, he knows better than to trust the powers in charge.
As for Tony, he always did what he wanted and refused to listen when people tried to dissuade from going overboard. He’s late but he’s finally starting to take accountability and wants to able to continue as Iron Man.
Vision delivered a good argument without being hypocritical. He literally knows his own strength. To ordinary people, he’s basically god-level like Thor.
For Sam and Rhodey, they didn’t have much of a choice. Even if they did, they were still gonna side with their respective best friends - and not just because of their friendships with them. Rhodey, for instance, is still an active member of the American military whereas Sam has seen the things that Steve saw during the HYDRA uprising.
The language T’Chaka spoke is Xhosa. It’s widely spoken in South Africa which is where his actor John Kani is from.
Zemo’s actor Daniel Brühl grew up speaking German through his father. He also learned Spanish and Catalan from his mother. Daniel reprised his role as Zemo for the German dub.
Sebastian Stan is good at speaking Romanian because he grew up in Constanța, and unless I’m mistaken he did his own motorbike stunt.
The elite death squad included some of the actors’ stunt doubles at the time.
In a deleted scene when Clint and Nat were fighting:
Nat: Don’t you think Laura would be disappointed?
Clint: Who, in me or you?
In another deleted scene, Nat watches the fight in horror after recovering from Wanda’s attack. While evading War Machine, Cap loses his shield. Bucky grabs it and throws it to War Machine. It bounces off of him and Falcon throws it back to Cap.
    Cap: Nice save.
Bucky: I gotta get me one of those.
What’s most interesting about Zemo is that he messed with the Avengers without laying a finger with them. CinemaWins goes into further detail as to how and why his plan worked.
In the Latin Spanish dub, when Tony grabs Bucky in the silo, the dialogue gets changed a bit but holds the same meaning:
Tony: Do you at least remember my parents?
Bucky: I carry them in my mind, too!
I also think that Nat and Sam knew about it as well. Nat was with Steve when Zola showed them the article. She also dug up some info on Bucky which might have included some info about that night. And of course, Sam would help Steve look for him.
“Tony Stank” is still my favorite Stan Lee cameo in terms of comedy. Also, you know it’s a cool scene when you put three legends in the same room.

Again, one of the best movies the MCU has to offer. Not only is the conflict so universally relevant, but the positions the characters take make sense. Tony wants oversight because he doesn't trust his own moral compass -- with good reason, as he's proven to himself more than once. Steve who's probably as close to infallibly good as a human can get, knows his own judgement is more reliable than most of the people who have given him orders.
My only regret is that this is basically an Avengers movie and has to keep up with a lot of characters. I wish we'd gotten at least one more Cap movie.

i LOVE how this movie pushed two very different characters to another end of the spectrum. Cap, a patriotic law abiding military man, now has lost faith in the government after the whole Hydra situation, whereas Tony, a proud I-do-what-i-want billionaire, now is carrying so much guilt from causing destructions due to his own recklessness to the point that he's willing to give up his freedom. His decision wasn't completely out of nowhere, btw. Remember this is the same man who tried to shut down his entire weapon manufacturing company, Stark Industries once he found out how his inventions had been used in the wrong hands due to his negligence.

Yes, but they, those 2 specifically, are 2 people with tremendous powers and abilities that could destroy nearly anything if they turned or lost control a la Hulk in Age of Ultron after Wanda got to him. In fact, the only person sitting at that table who is potentially more of a threat, power wise, would be Wanda.

Hey! Sorry I'm late to the party commenting, but I JUST discovered your channel and am having fun catching up!
Fun fact on this movie, especially since you are "DC fans"...
This is probably the top example of Marvel's brilliant "vs DC" marketing, and it was the first real admission (by DC) that they couldn't compete. It came out back when Marvel was dominating, but DC was still "clinging to hope," building towards their planned Justice League movie. About 1 year before Civil War came out, both Marvel and DC had a movie slated for release the same month.
DC had announced theirs would be "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice"... so, everyone thought, "Marvel is successful, but NO WAY can they compete with that!"...
Then, a few months later, Marvel announced the movie in their slot would be "Captain America 3"...
I remember reading articles talking about this... Financially, they were saying, "Well, Marvel is successful, but they can't beat Batman AND Superman in the same movie... Especially with "just" a Captain America movie," so the speculation at the time (laughable now) was that Marvel was planning to keep the date, "take a loss" going head-to-head w/ Batman v Superman, and count a "win" by cutting into the profits of Batman v Superman...
This is what everyone thought for ~2 months or so... Then, Marvel announced, "Oh, yeah, the full title is "Captain America: Civil War"."
Now, as you might imagine, EVERY Comic Book fan knew what that meant... "Cap vs. Iron Man"... (It was a VERY famous and well-known mini-series across multiple Marvel comics titles years earlier)... So immediately the articles changed, because now Robert Downey Jr. / Iron Man was going to be in "Captain America 3"!...
About a week later, DC announced that it was delaying the release of Batman v Superman...
The ultimate game of MCU vs. DCU "release date chicken," and DC hung their heads in shame and moved their date... Batman and Superman together totally powerless in the face of the god-like box-office power of Robert Downey Jr.!
    Hilarious!

ever since i was a kid reading the comics i was always on Caps side teams stars stood against the mutant registration "the Sakovia accords" if you wanna know just how powerful cap can be go back to the chase from where he jumps from the building and nearly catches up to both Barnes and panther in the tunnel in almost no time at all and the helicopter shows his strength

11:38 Banner? You mean the guy that you made him a fugitive from the US Military and wanted to weaponize the Hulk?

Cap and Tony are always juxtaposed since the very first avengers movie. Cap always stays true to his character, the righteous guy, while Tony always try to change and improve himself to be better, 'the futurist' (in Barton's words). This movie is the culmination of their two opposing, yet similarly valid, point of views. Marvel movies are great because at the core of it they are stories about great characters.

Tony tries to be better, but it's not really two equally valid sides here. Tony's most self-aware action is probably requesting oversight, but he's doing it because *he* needs it. I mean he brings an underage kid to a fight where he can get hurt without even explaining the situation to him.

Legal Eagle did an episode on the Sokovia Accords and their general legality, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

In the marketing of this movie, they basically did promote it as a moral/judgement choice. All the ads encouraged you to choose Team Iron Man or Team Cap.
I always leaned Team Tony simply because I love him (not because I agree with the Accords), but was cemented to that side in the scene in Bucky's apartment. Cap doesn't KNOW Bucky's innocent. He may have done the bombing under mind control, and Cap is perfectly fine letting him go and fighting off the cops because Buckys his BFF. Not ok. You should have brought Bucky and then helped him after he was restrained.

Something that each time I watch this movie, I realize more and more, is that Tony Stark impulse to sign the accords and to kill Bucky, comes from the same place, his own feelings of guilt, and inability to forgive himself. With the accords, because he was responsible for Ultron, and with Bucky, because of his own strained relationship with his parents, set up, during the presentation of BARF.😅
In regards of 7:26, the vial was an infections agent. So dropping it could have caused a pandemic or health crisis of some kind.

The interaction between Bucky and Sam is great. Down the line there will come some MCU TV Shows do you wanna watch them when the time comes?

Stark shouldn't have gotten involved with Sokovia. Don't want lil Charlie to get killed. Better to just let Ultron wipe out all life on Earth. What a stupid woman.

Phase 3 is goated and it’s cool to see Bucky and Steve fighting together just like in the war , cool how they both best friends and got to stay alive longer than everyone lol and one didn’t outlive the other through old age, just wish it was the proper Bucky and not a messed up mentally one, as they ain’t got the same relationship

I still have hopes that they cast either Keanu Reeves or Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) as Ghost Rider for the MCU. Reedus would be cool because he was already in Blade 2 another Marvel character that had his own live action trilogy & who has already been recasted for his entrice into the MCU. Reedus has also voiced another Marvel character The Punisher in a Iron Man animated film; The Punisher Marvel licensed character who has had 3 lve action films a 1989 one staring Dolph Lundgren, in 2004 played by Thomas Jane, and in 08 played by Ray Stevenson who was Volstagg of the warriors three in the first 2 Thor films. But i highly recommend Watching The Punisher Series originally made for Netflix but is now on Disney plus because Jon Bernthal (Shane) does a great job playing him.

The MCU shouldn't have titled the Captain America, or Avengers. It simply should have been Marvel's Civil War. Titling it Captain America tells the audience shouldn't the "good guy" of the conflict is. The thing that made the comic series so interesting is it allowed you to see the morality and immorality of both sides. And involves more heroes that are not actually Avengers
