This is my favorite Halo game. It isn't just nostalgia, it's about the ambiguity to some extent. It's like when a quality Sci Fi film is set in a more confined space, I always enjoy those because they seem raw. Halo CE seemed the most intense to me because you're stranded on the ring, fighting an alien race that is more advanced and hell bent on wiping out the surviving crew. The Flood is described as a nuisance by many reviewers, but that's exactly why I enjoy it so much. It makes the second act of the game desperate. And despite the redundancy of returning to the control room in reverse, it really hammers in how grim the situation is. It's almost a sigh of relief fighting the covenant again after The Library. You almost forget about The Flood until it's complete chaos when it's reintroduced. You see The Covenant giving it all they've got and still succumbing to the infection. I didn't mean to write that much, and I know it's disorganized. But yeah I love Halo CE.
So many memories came to my mind when hearing “Halo 1” I couldn’t pass the flood part the first time I played it cause I was so scared I couldn’t even go further the third checkpoint haha.

Arrived at this channel because I just started replaying CE MCC. The gameplay really does still hold up. I didn't think it would, but it's still an absolute joy. So many deaths and so many near death experiences. That battle rush is still there.

You can speedrun "assault on the control room if you kill the elites at the banshee on th bridge near the tower of the control room, then take the banshee and fly right to the rntrance of the control room, it saves about 5 to 10 minutes
Bas Emaus you can speedrun the entire mission by "stealing" the first banshee you encounter at the beginning of the mission. Saves like an hour of gameplay :)
Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort to make this. I never got to play the game when it was in its prime, and sadly, my first exposure to the Halo series was Halo 5. I have really enjoyed learning the story and development of the Halo series and the lore that is so thoroughly intertwined with the game. 3:53 "The marines are insanly helpful." B O I The assault rifle sucked in CE. It has low damage and bad accuracy. And the marines only use them in bursts but are extremely accurate. Most of the time, even grunts kick their asses. The only thing good about them is that they're good distractions, and drop grenades. Edit: oof, highlighted comment.
The marines definitely suck, but the assault rifle isn't too bad. Its melee attack is fast and the weapon itself does solid damage. The thing I love about halo 1 is that almost every weapon has a niche application where it really shines.
@@imafishbish1346 I think we will have to agree to disagree. I played the game all throughout my childhood and I think that the assault rifle is definitely a solid weapon in some choice situations, (e.g. really fast melee animation, close range vs pistol, or when shields are down).

Halo CE has the most fair difficulty in the series in my opinion. For the most part if you did die it was because of a mistake you made. And you can complete each mission on legendary without dying, which is something that is impossible in the other halo games
The audio alone gives me chills. The memories of late nights playing through again and again with a mountain of eggos and a gallon of milk. I can still smell the eggos. 16 years ago and still by far my most favourite instalment.
I grew up on this game. Five year old me inherited my dads Xbox from his highschool days and decided to put in this disc in with this weird guy in a dirt bike helmet. I was thrown into a story of an awesome super solider killing aliens on a hoopla hoop in space. I felt awe looking into the sky and seeing the ring stretch into the distance just to loop around and come back towards me. I felt unstoppable shooting through waves of covenent. And I felt terror fighting the flood. Here's to a badass game we can all remember fondly!
