Here's the maths:
Texas Toast $2.99/17= $.17 per slice
eggs $2.79/12 = $.23 per egg - (In my case, the eggs were 'free' since they were laid by my hens.)
American cheese $4.28/16 = $.26 per slice
ham $5.99/17=$.35 per slice (Enough to make 2 sandwiches.)
($.17x2) bread + $.23 egg + $.26 cheese + ($.35/2) ham = $1.00!

Your channel is still relevant, entertaining and wonderfully educational.
Yum. Kind of like a croque madame
costs vary... here that would have a base cost more around $3.. and we'd have to use something besides Texas Toast, that disappeared from the shelves here back in 2020 and never came back.
Dollar Tree sells Texas toast here in MA.
@@josephteller9715 Right! What the heck happened to Texas Toast, I can't find it anywhere either.
I bet, instead of parsley for color, chopped green onion would add as much color and amazing flavor.
Sure ! Captain Obvious !
@@JohnHausser do tell. I know you must have breathtaking thoughts and ideas to share with the whole of the internet. So, please. Do tell.

Cheer up John. I hope you can feel better soon. 🤗❤
i gotta stop watching food shows at midnight right before bed, this does look really good
I know how you feel - I am currently trying to break a 1am second dinner habit .
Breakfast inspo for the morning!
This sounds like a twist on the Croque-Madame, sounds tasty!

@@Valen_WolfSam the Cooking guy. I had to look it up because, well, I'm nosey.😆 But he has a croque madame recipe
100% the same idea indeed!
I make croque madame all the time. Definitely a western twist! 😊
Can't get over "liquid plastic cheese flavour" description for American Cheese which is totally true🤣🤣🤣🤣
Get a lighter and burn a slice.
Burns just like plastic with black acrid smoke too!
Just gross.
Plenty of videos on YT of it
It is a congealed sauce basically
This just inspired me to take the open faced bologna sandwich from my childhood (cheese, bologna, slice of tomato) but make a whole oven-roasted sandwich outta it with an egg on top!
That sounds familiar! When my mom didn't feel like cooking, she'd throw together cheese, tomato, and bacon open-faced sandwiches and broil them. SO. GOOD.
I was thinking about this! Im not a fan of ham so im happy to see bologne works just as good
Prosciutto
I do tomato, bacon, and cheese open faced. I've loved it since my childhood.
IDK about the rest of y'all, but I grew up with my dad make "egg in a hole." Always awesome. Then, I was given a flip pan little panini pan and I quickly learned that baby omelettes and eggs-in-a-hole were so fun and easy for my kids to make.
Also known by some as Rocky Mountain Toast.
Yum, in frying pan.
Then people switched to the panini machine/sandwich maker. And now Airfryers.
Still looks delicious!
We make egg in the hole and turn it into grilled cheese by slapping cheddar on after flipping, then putting them together. Decadent.
Toad in a hole...or, when I was a kid a German Eyeball (I know, eek!)
I love garlic fermented in honey. That garlic and honey would be incredible for this.
Ooo…fermented garlic in honey is soooo good. Thanks for reminding to make more. 🧄🍯

How is garlic honey made please? Yum!!
You know you're going to have to make that an episode now, right? @@emmymade
@@emmymadeisn’t the Korean cream cheese garlic bread also topped with honey?
Oh wow!! That egg yoke reveal when you sliced it open. Yum!🤤
🍳🍳🍳
I make something similar, but I scramble the egg & mix it with the cheese, then spread it on lightly buttered bread and air fry until the egg is puffed up & set.
Like a Welsh Rarebit?
there is no eggs in Welsh Rarebit. At least not one i've seen until now.@@PippetWhippet
Mathed it out for Real Canadian Superstore shopping. Bread .49 for 2, egg .34 each, cheese slice .25 each, mayo using 1 tbsp serving size measure .19, butter same way of measuring .20, shredded cheese was a range for serving size so went with 35g was .74. Total 2.21 for each sandwich.
Take that McDonalds!😊
Plus the slice of ham... groceries in Canada are expensive. But Emmy made this look like it's more than worth it 😊
Thanks for the calculation!
I just made this. The entire egg was super runny after baking it at 355 for 15 minutes. I recommend baking for 25 to 30 minutes if you have a large egg. I finished mine in the microwave for one minute and it still tasted yummy.
I'm making this right now and it's been 20 minutes at 350 and the egg is not cooked. I'm gonna follow your advice.
I had the same problem. After 30 minutes, the the bread and cheese are toasted and the egg is soft boiled. :)
I think her 2nd sandwich had completely liquid egg whites?
I'm so going to make this Saturday for my son's bday breakfast😊 thanks for the recipes! Always enjoy watching your videos😊😊
Did he make you mad 😮🎉
I grew up in Oklahoma and (at least in my house) we never used Texas Toast for regular garlic toast. (If we wanted that, we bought a French loaf and cut it ourselves.) Texas Toast was reserved for this type of sandwich. We didn't always do an egg, but we did always use a rough & tumble 80s toaster oven that got the outsides extra crispy while the inside stayed soft. Great with all the typical savory sandwich fixings but I would also make PB&J or PB&B (banana) this way, with a divot in the bread to hold just a little extra filling in the middle and having gently pressed the crusts together to reduce leakage. 🥰
I wonder if cutting out a circle in the top slice of bread would work better for bigger eggs? Like for egg in a hole? You could butter and bake the cut out circle alongside the sandwich for dipping!
I've been a fan of Cooking Haru for years, I'm really glad they're getting recognized over here in the states now! Sometimes it seems impossible to make food from Asia authentically but you make it look so simple. And this sando looks sooooo gooooood.
The one with garlic butter sounds GREAT!!
Oh god my mouth is watering! I'd also like you to know that I didnt used to eat eggs (texture issues) but because of your bright positivity I got myself to eat them again, and find ways to enjoy them! Ill be looking out for some texas toast so I can try this.
Yes, texture of the egg white made me gag, but I loved the yolk. I always preferred scrambled until I outgrew my texture problem.
I would have cook it longer so that the yoke was hard.
Emmy, this reminds me of a breakfast sandwich that I once had on an Amtrak trip across the country. It was very tasty!
Fresh garlic in the morning... your co-workers are going to LOVE you! 😆
But just think. No vampires for 10 foot radius! 😂
Texas toast, in Texas, is just thickly sliced white bread, buttered on both sides, and toasted lightly. Usually served as a side when any type of gravy is involved.
I really appreciate your joy and your bright, loving enthusiasm the food. You are refreshing an amazing host of food and culinary cuisine. I really appreciated you with your MRE reviews and your emergency style food reviews. You always have a great perspective and a very inquisitive mind for shelf stable foods. It’s great seeing you produce, what you love!
I’ve been a long time fan of been watching your channel for years and watching it grow. Well deserved.
Always take big bites! Texas toast is awesome. It's grilled with butter. This recipe looks great! Thanks, Emmy ❣️
My dad didn't think spaghetti night was complete without Texas toast with lots of garlic butter. Toasted golden brown. Used it to sop up the sauce.
Cooking Haru is awesome 💯!
I was so down for this until the 2nd cut the rush of lots of slimy uncooked egg white. I will definitely need to cook mine a tad longer.
Sounds delightful 😋
I didn't have ham in the house so I used thinly sliced SPAM and it was outstanding! A drizzle of hot honey would be amazing on it too. or chili crisp.
Leave it to Emmy to make me crave "plastic cheese flavor"
Your house looks so warm and cozy, love the decorations.
Thank you. It looks very delicious! 💜
#1 Happy 🥧Day, Emmy! #2 This recipe looks fantastic! #3 You are nearly to 3 MILLION!!! subscribers- who woulda thunk?! Congrats♥

Yum! I can’t get over the thickness of the bread slices!! 😮 I bought a loaf of extra thick toast bread last week, and the slices were half the thickness ! I would prefer your version 😊

It takes a certain amount of courage to eat something like that while wearing a white shirt.
Definitely Trying this
Looks bomb! Imma try. Thanks!

I made a loaf of bread yesterday and it will be PERFECT for this tonight. Thank you 😊
I am absolutely trying this
Just made the garlic version! Omg it’s so delicious and you’re right about the honey 💯 I think this is my new go-to easy meal
Looks amazing ☺️
I bake eggs on toast like this often for breakfast, making it a sandwich is so brilliant! cant wait to try it 💜
That looks like it would be very comforting on a cold day.
That looked awesome. I need to try that.
😂well, thank you once again dear Emmy! (Your videos are so very enjoyable always! --I'm happy to hear you've continued with your bees!)
7:28 “itadakimasu” Im studying Japanese and just learned the meaning of this word, and the beautiful deeper sentiment it represents. I feel this word resonate through this simple dish. How wonderfully appropriate. Bless you and your channel. ❤😊
Instead of using a small bowl to make the indentation, I'd recommend using a spoon and making the indentation bigger. Closer to the edges and in more of a square shape with a border near the crust to hold it all in.
Damn!!! Both look amazing!! Must try!!!❤
That looks delish!
That looks SO good!
🤤🤤🤤
Looks Yummy
Loooove cooking haru! I fall asleep to their videos 😊
looks good!
🤤That looks _great._
Looks so yummy❤
I saw this video and was immediately moved to try the recipe for myself, I switched up things a little and combined shaved ham and turkey just for a little added jazzy pizzazz thanks for sharing much appreciated!
Yum, almost like a shortcut version of the Georgian Khachapuri egg and cheese bread.
Thanks Emmy, this is a great recipe. Here in Australia, I don’t think we can still get Texas Toast, but a trip to the bread shop and a request to slice a loaf extra extra thick would work.
Emmy literally made my perfect egg 😂 whites fully cooked yolk runny as possible
I have to make this!❤
I will be making this today.
That's an egg in a basket on steriods. I love it. ❤❤❤
This feels like a fun reimagining of something like a croque madame, and as one of my favorite sandwiches, that seems like a good time.
I’m Celiac and you can find GF Texas Toast. I’m definitely doing this and great for company as a breakfast choice. Thank you!!
I love cooking haru! I watch him all the time. After I have eaten cause you will be hungry when he's done
This looks so stinkin' GOOD
That Crispy egg toast looks so good really like how it shape it was a good Crispy eggs toast
I'm laying watching this while being hungover and my gosh that looks good!!!!
Im going to make them for dinner ❤
Mmmm. That butter one looks so good.
OMG those look amazing - I’m definitely going to make them this weekend! The only thing I will have to try and do is cook them just a little longer, I really don’t like eggs quite that soft but other than that, Chef’s kiss :) ❤
Yes, I agree. I also wonder if it might not be an idea to separate the egg and add the yolk in later, somehow? I like a runny yolk, but not runny whites. Maybe placing a small metal cookie ring on top and the white part around it might work. And then in the oven for the first 5-10 minutes and then take out and remove the cookie ring and put on yolk and cheese around it. And then back in the oven.
Now that's some gourmet spread!!! Im so hungry 😅
More breakfast type recipes please!
Omg that looks so delicious I’m going to go get some Texas toast tomorrow and make this ❤
Let me know what you think!
Definitely going to try tomorrow. Thanks Emmy 😊
5:35 butter the sides, because...yeah!
making soon.....😎
I love Texas toast because when you toast it up, it goes crunchy on the outside but stays soft on the inside. (We have it in Canada, too)
I make that with reg bread it's so good
Oooooh this sounds absolutely delicious!!!!! Love that it’s two levels!!! I just tried something fun called crispy egg salad and that was fun- great way to use all those leftover Easter hard boiled eggs. You have always been my favorite channel- and my biggest bucket list item is doing a collaboration with you ❤❤❤❤
I grew up eating those sandwiches, my grandmother are them for me and now I make them for my grandchildren.
